Staying in St Andrews with friends. Took ourselves off to the Fairmont for dinner. We had a lovely meal in the Italian restaurant with friends. Very attentive staff, particularly Tomasz. Good atmosphere. Drinks and food delivered promptly.

I am so overwhelmed with my spa experience. “Grace” the receptionist made me feel at ease and welcome. I complimented her eyelashes and told her I’d love to have them. Grace told me on departure she had printed a list of beauticians in the area, to my room that could apply the same eyelashes. I had the best personalised experience ever and the true meaning of “going the extra mile”

Bare with me while I bring myself back down to earth after the most amazing 3 days… We had the absolute PRIVILEGE of working with The Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews, Scotland. It is a 5 star luxurious resort with two amazing 18 hole golf courses, a spa, a sports bar, restaurant and lots more! We have been looking forward to this well needed trip for the last few months and can now 100% say it was absolutely well worth the wait. We were lucky enough to have the sun shining for us when we arrived and were blown away driving up to the hotel. See for yourselves ⬇️ As soon as we stepped foot out of our car there was a member of staff there to welcome and accommodate you. He offered to take our luggage in and directed us on where to go to check in. When we checked in the lady who dealt with us was so friendly. Sometimes you feel a bit intimidated walking into a 5 star hotel but absolutely not this one. They made you feel calm and at ease but like you were their friend at the same time! Check in was super fast and we then got to go and see our room… I think that picture speaks for itself doesn’t it? THE VIEW!!!!!! If I could wake up to that view for the rest of my life I’d be a very very VERY happy girl. Once dropping off our bags in the room we thought we would have a wander around the hotel and have a little explore. We came across a bar, a sports bar, a restaurant, a toy room, the spa, a shop and conference rooms. It barely took Fraser 10 seconds to decide he wanted to try out the sports bar and….. GOLF SIMULATOR! How could this hotel be ticking so many boxes! There was a wide variety of alcohol in the sports bar, in-fact it had everything we asked for! The staff behind the bar were so lovely and there were tvs all over the bar with sports on them. Oh you could even get food here! From haggis bon bons to burgers! After the sports bar and a wander around the grounds, it was dinner time! We booked the Mediterranean restaurant – La Cucina. Again we could not fault the staff, so accommodating and nothing was ever too much for them. We both had a 3 course meal and enjoyed every single bit. Scroll down – Warning — may cause drooling. The next morning Fraser was booked to play golf on the Kittocks course (I will post pictures below but I will probably get in trouble because I don’t know how good is position / posture is in them or if he even managed to hit the ball 😂) and while he was playing I got to spend most of the morning enjoying the view before heading for breakfast! I’m not usually a fan of breakfast but this breakfast was by far both of our favourites ever! There was so much to choose from and all cooked fresh, some even right infront of your face! My favourite being the pancakes of course, mmmmmm! 🥞 We spent the afternoon in the town and beach in St Andrews and what a stunning town it is. I think it could be my new favourite. So many restaurants, cafes, bars and ice cream shops to choose from and not forgetting clothing shops… there’s loads!!! When we got back from the town we then used the spa facilities (which are free to use if you are a guest) they have a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a cold bucket shower! I was in my element in the steam room and sauna, 10 minutes of PEACE and RELAXATION! I was then booked for a facial in the spa with a lovely lady called Alexandra. I never like to book in for any treatments when I’m away as it just feels selfish of me for some reason but my goodness I have been missing a trick and I won’t be listening to that old motto anymore! The spa has relaxing music and smells even walking past which makes it hard not to go in and it only gets better when you do. The facial was absolutely amazing, she made sure she used the products my skin would benefit from most, for example I have quite dry skin so she used nourishing gentle products on me. You could tell she was experiences and knew exactly what she was talking about and had a passion for what she does. I can’t tell you how sad I am to leave this amazing hotel and amazing staff. This has been the best trip for my husband and I and we’re already looking at dates to book again and to bring our little boy too. I would give this hotel more stars if I could but it is absolutely 5 star all around. Please book in if you can, you will not regret a single second of it.

The best hotel and place to be in St Andrews. Everything with this place is amazing. From the minute you drive through the huge gates, the road along, the stunning views, amazing two golf courses and the hotel too are all just out of this world. You’ll be blown away. It gets better with the helpful hotel staff from the minute you step out of your car. I can’t recommend this place enough for your stay, visit to the old town and golf.

Room Tip: Play both courses and don’t miss the breakfast. They serve traditional haggis and black pudding too.

Great to stay at the Fairmont St Andrews. It is everything a top class hotel should be. The staff, the layout, the setting and the service; all excellent. From our arrival on a busy Saturday we were welcomed and made to feel like valued guests. Reception staff - especially Cate, were excellent throughout our stay. I know that many hotels are still finding their way back to excellence since lockdowns and Covid, so it was good to be at The Fairmont where so much of its five star service is fully operational. The breakfasts were good too; lots of choice and well provisioned. We also used Room Service and again it was excellent. Dinner in the Italian restaurant (La Cucina) where we dined on one of our evenings, was really good - especially the baked aubergine - and staff were attentive and friendly. Overall it was notable how polite and well-trained ALL the staff are. It was a great stay and one we plan to reprise in the near future.

This hotel is not in St. Andrews proper. It is on the outskirts of the town, not within walking distance. It is set up on the seaside coast and if you are lucky enough to have a sea view with the two golf courses in view it is truly breathtaking. Our room was excellent. The bed is comfortable, the linens great, shower pressure great. Very clean. The room was very quiet for being full. And the best of all IT HAS GREAT AIR CONDITIONING. The meals we had in the hotel were mixed. The pub hamburger was not like any hamburger in the US and we did not enjoy them. However, the Italian restaurant in the hotel was very good, better than much-hyped Little Italy in St. Andrews. We ate at the Italian restaurant twice. Both times great service and food. And I need to mention the very pleasant woman who works in the gift shop. I was there daily and her cheerfulness and helpfulness were very much appreciated. I don't know her name, only that she lives in Kingsbarns (which came up because that is where we had just played). The two golf courses are a reduced rate for hotel guests and are enjoyable to play. We did get a golf cart for one round and walked the other. We both agreed they were very good and interesting. The only downsides of this hotel are the overwhelming stink of whatever air freshener they use in the lobby. It is sickly sweet and thankfully doesn't extend past the lobby. And the second downside is the dark and dreary interior. Whoever did their paint scheme made some big mistake! I would not hesitate to stay here, it all went well, and we were happy (in fact it was one of the best hotels we stayed in on this tour)

Arrived today and had inedible salty cullen skink with hard chewy seafood. Was told the chef tasted it and it was all salt but he hadn't made it! Begs the question who did! Despite being inedible I was told I wouldn't be charged and they'd give me a free diet coke!! I then asked twice for a menu and so much time passed that I gave up and left. So mid afternoon after no lunch made the mistake of asking for bar snacks! The waiter had no idea what I was asking for!! I was then told chips were available and after a lengthy discussion it was eventually clarified it was crisps. 5 Star hotel and the only snack is two flavour of crisps! Then headed to the Italian La Cucina for dinner with low expectations and I was right as it was on par with the chain ZiZis. Then they gave out soft toys to other people's children. I asked why my child wasn't getting one and they proceeded to tell me that they do something called sparkle moments to make customers day!! So my child watched as others got a goody bag and was upset. Even after asking they ignored it. I then went to the front desk feeling livid to be told I couldn't give feedback to any management!! I could only go on Trip Advisor!! So I'm not a big rich American. I'm a hard working teacher and it took a lot of hard work to earn money I'm spending here. My custom is not valued. This is not a 5 star hotel or anywhere near it. I would never return.

Since we paid a small fortune to spend a longer weekend at the Fairmont in St Andrews, we have been quite excited and were happily looking forward for a grande experience. Also we booked 10 months in advance and asked for a quiet room. Since we booked with Fairmont directly it also said, there might be a free upgrade on arrival upon availability. On our day of arrival we arrived around 14:00 h and this were two hours before official check in times. Even though some hotels also arrange an earlier check in, we were informed that this is not the case, since the hotel is fully booked and thus also no upgrade possible. Ok, so far so good and we were informed that we will be informed on my cell phone as soon as our room will be free. I asked if there is a kind of welcome drink, so we might enjoy ourselves on the terrace. The response was, that the bar is right opposite, where I can buy myself a drink and enjoy it on the terrace. Not quite the welcome I was expecting in that category of a hotel where I spend nearly 1200 Pound on the weekend. Anyway, we had our drink and then decided to relax in the Spa. As by 16:30 h there still has been no phone call that our room is ready I went for the reception to check. Nothing has been prepared yet for us, but this time the young man was smart enough to overcome that and arranged our room immediately. However, our room was just adjacent to the outside terrace where, due to great weather, many guests had a laugh outside until late night. So I asked for another room, since we especially asked for quiet room 10 months ago, but since we have been checking in so late (!) , there were no other rooms available.. So altogether it certainly is a great location. Rooms are spacious, design is nice and matches the entire style. Restaurants, breakfast and tea time are great and staff here is kind an helpful. Even though you realize that there is a shortage of staff and students from the area took over. But no problem with that at all. For us, it could have been a great experience and it would not have taken much to realise that. Still, welcome makes the first impression and when you don't really feel welcome due to lack of interest and motivation, then you wonder if it makes sense spending so much money for a stay. One more positive topic is, they offer a free shuttle bus each full hour to St. Andrews which brings you back ten past of each full hour..

Even though the hotel was busy the staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful and there is a good range of food and drink on the resort. Cracking views to St Andrews and plenty of transport options to get there. Good activities on resort.
