This is the second time we have stayed. Our room was in the new area across the road. Rooms were lovely, great size and decorated to a high standard. We had an evening meal and breakfast. The evening meal was superb. Fantastic choice and great flavours. Nicest meal I have had in a restuarant for ages. We went to the spa in the morning which was very relaxing. Overall 5 stars. The location is second to none. The staff are very helpfull. Would 100% recommend and we will hopefully be back again. P.s cocktails from the bar are great!

Very nice amenities, staff and accommodations. The staff went out of their way to provide any services requested. Quiet area with comfortable rooms. Centrally located near St. Andrews Old Course with many restaurants and pubs close by.

Excellent hotel just steps from The Old Course. They were extremely accommodating as to go out of the way to make us coffee for our early morning (5am) departure the final day. I would also mention that the facilities are great (esp for small town Scotland) and the breakfast was excellent. 5-stars all around

Pros: great central location, 5 min walk from the towns free long stay car park. Room was comfortable, well resourced, nicely decorated, bathroom was great. Spa was really nice, friendly helpful staff. Definitely recommend, would stay here again. Cons: I found the bed very comfortable, but it was much too firm for my wife who struggled to sleep. Personal preference. I booked a one night stay through booking.com and between the hotel themselves and booking.com I received 18 emails, a confirmation phone call and a request to download an app for my room key - it was just way, way over the top. Actually really annoying. The majority of the emails we’re just the same confirmation email over and over. 1 or 2 emails would be sufficient. I like the option of a room key on my phone. But I made the effort to download the app and check in online, then when I arrived after my check in time the Key on the app didn’t work. I believe it is an ongoing project, but if it’s not ready don’t send the email. A minor complaint. Only frustration on an otherwise brilliant stay.

Itison voucher for lunch and spa treatment for 2 gifted to me by my daughter in October as part of special “big birthday” gift. What a farce trying to book a time slot for using the voucher. Kinnettles Spa don’t answer phone and very lax responding to emails. We were patient but Covid can only be used as an excuse for so long. Hotel at least extended the expiry date of the voucher as it was impossible to use before. Eventually secured a booking only to have it cancelled a few days before. At last after 6 months …. yes SIX months… we travelled by train/bus to St Andrew’s looking forward to our treat. Whilst seated awaiting lunch a girl from the Spa arrived to say we didn’t have a booking after all but we could have lunch and rebook Spa for another date 😵‍💫. Needless to say this news totally spoiled our experience of lunch especially when another couple of guests who arrived after us were using an Itison voucher deal. What a disappointment. My daughter was embarrassed as it was a gift and felt she had to inform Itison who then also had difficulty when trying to communicate with Kinnettles. Full credit to Itison for refunding the voucher. Kinnettles Spa most definitely are not on.

Stayed as a birthday treat and had a lovely time. Room was spacious and well equipped. Clean and airy. Location is perfect for exploring the town and breakfast was delicious. As no evening meals on Mondays and Tuesdays the receptionist had recommended somewhere to eat nearby which was fabulous and somewhere we hadn’t been before. Staff were very accommodating. Will definitely be back.

We arrived after paying £258 for our room. It was clear from the remaining toothpaste from a previous guest which was stuck to the tiles behind the tap in the bathroom and from the marks still on the shower screen and shower taps; the drip marks on the top of the small bin in the bathroom and the dust and marks lying at the back of the toilet that the bathroom had not been cleaned. I went downstairs and was told that it would be cleaned within 5 minutes and apologies were given. 45 minutes later no one came to clean it and I had to ask again and was met with a very impolite " I'll deal with you in a minute" response. It was properly cleaned after this. We had booked the spa for the evening which was required but at no point did we see any staff there nor were there clean towels provided to us to use. Some previous guest had left an unused single towel on a chair which I used but there wasn't one for my husband and clearly no one there to ask for another nor did any appear to be lying around. Breakfast for my husband was excellent but my porridge was luke warm at best and the service was a bit haphazard. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and in the UK and indeed in St. Andrews itself and this is not one we will be returning to. This is not a 5 star but a very good 3 star hotel and was very disappointing as this stay was for a special occasion.

We had been to St Andrews before but had never stayed at a hotel right in the heart of town. We didn’t know what to expect but we certainly didn’t expect the level of service we got at Kinnettles. We’ve stayed at 5 and 6 star hotels and the personal and friendly touch of the staff at this hotel rivals the best of them. Right at check in, Abbie and Scott made sure we were settled in and helped us with our golf bags and luggage. Like most buildings in St Andrews, this is an older building without a lift. Like many small businesses, they are short staffed so it was gratifying to see them all helping each other particularly during a busy breakfast service. Our package included not just breakfast but also dinner (what a deal!) Unfortunately, some of their night staff had called in sick. The night manager, Claudia, arranged dinner for us at a nearby hotel and made sure we were well taken care of. A big shout out also to Raf who by night is one of their night managers but trades in his suit for an apron in the morning to be our breakfast cook. He made sure we had everything we needed and went out of his way to prepare the breakfast we wanted. This hotel also has a spa that takes privacy to another level as you can reserve the spa just for your party. A very nice touch indeed. Well done Kinnettles.
