Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

Good hotel and great location but two issues was asked to pay a £50 bond on arrival and also had to pay additional costs for a hot breakfast which we weren't aware of when booking I have stayed in numerous hotels for both business and pleasure and never had the two issues before.

We have stayed here many times and loved it so much every time. The rooms are slightly different each time as to their layout. Love the hotel and restaurant next door. You cannot go wrong. It’s close to the train station, the bus location and near the castle. Perfect location in

Hi Monica, You can get a taxi door to door which will take approximately 30 minutes and cost around £25. You can also get the tram costing £6 each way or a return for £8.50. this will bring you to Princes Street and we are about a 7 minute uphill walk from there. Dear SGlady, Thank you for your question. We do not have parking here at the hotel, there is some limited on street parking however we recommend that our guests park at the New Street Car Park at Waverly train station. Our guests can benefit from a 20% discount. The car park is approximately a 10 minute walk away so you are welcome to drop off any luggage with us prior to parking. Driving in the Old Town can be a bit tricky due to the layout of the city however our friendly team will be happy to provide you with a map and directions to the car park. Kind regards, Michelle
