I booked a table for a family of 7 get together since restrictions were lifted and hadn't seen other for almost two years. We went on 22nd July at 5.30pm and our table was in the bar area next to the door for the shop which was really quiet even though each table was taken. Our waitress who saw to us for our time in the bar I could not fault her at all, she was very attentive and friendly. Our meal choices were excellent and none of us could fault the quality of our meals. However, I am really disappointed in the other members of staff and management who were working last night, as they were not interested in the customers in the bar area, they preferred to stand and chat at the bar together having a laugh. At one point the waitress came over to see if we were finished our meal which a couple of us were still eating, so she left which was fine but eventually after waiting about 20 minutes (but I had to wave my hand to get waitresses attention) our table was cleared. This was despite as I have already said there were up to 5 other members of staff standing at the bar area and meandering around the restaurant. I did go to the bathroom and noticed the waterside restaurant was full, but this should not have affected the quality of service we received in the bar area. We have been here on numerous occasions and have never had to complain about the staff before. One of our party is actually a very good friend of the owners and she was disgusted in the service like the rest of us. At some points during our time there, it felt like we were being watched by the staff who were standing about doing 'NOTHING' which was very off putting and made me feel uncomfortable at times. The previous members of staff were all very friendly attentive and hard working, the manager in his appearance looked scruffy and did not appear to be interested in his customers satisfaction.

Dear Ferndoodle, Firstly, can I apologise for the poor service that you received on your recent visit to Kingennie. Our aim is to have every guest leave having had the best service that we can provide, and it is very clear that we failed to deliver this on this occasion. At no point should our staff be standing around doing nothing when we have guests that are needing served in the building, especially not making guests feel uncomfortable. I can assure you that I will be raising your points with Claire our Restaurant manager and I will also be discussing the feedback with the manager and team that were on duty to ensure that this does not happen again. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding your waitress and the food, I will pass these onto your her and the chefs who were on shift. On a final note, I would really like the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail and ask if you would mind calling me on 01382 350777. Bruce Sheridan General Manager

Firstly, let me start by saying it's not average but by no means verg good. I'll explain. So I would not have given it a 4 star as that implies it is very good. The setting and the interior prepares you for a delicious meal but it's just above average. My husband had a very basic hallumi salad and a side of garlic bread. The garlic bread was 3 small discs and was £3.50! Not much imagination had goue into the salad either. My dad had a steak which he enjoyed and I had fish and chips. It's basically pub grub in a lovely setting - style over substance. Nice for a coffee or a light lunch, as I had been the week before for lunch with a friend and had the hallumi on a flatbread with salad and that was a delight. That was why I had returned for dinner, shame the main meals weren't as tasty.

We visited Forbes of Kingennie to play golf. The course was in fabulous condition and we thoroughly enjoyed our game. We stayed for some “light bites” and the waitress (didn’t catch her name) and duty manager (Jacob) ate assets to their team and made our visit all the more enjoyable. I will definitely recommend the golf course and restaurant to my friends. Date visited 13/7/21

We stayed for 3 nights in the lodge closest to the venue, Glen Prosen, as part of a party celebrating a wedding being held at the venue. Overall, the food was good and the accommodation was good but the big let down was that some of the bar staff had no idea what products they had on and made many mistakes delivering our drinks orders. We felt that more attention to training is needed here. The app the resort encourages you to use is pretty bad too, I was able to order successfully once from it but anything after that was not possible, it refused to take my order. Also, in the app, you may order any manner of gins but you cannot specify what sort of mixer - the option is just "Schweppes mixer" so, if you want slimline tonic or any other mixer, you have to order from one of the staff (with all the confusion that that exercise entails). The lodge itself was comfortable and clean, well equipped for our stay. The only niggles were that our lodge had no hooks on doors to hang your towel whilst in the shower or anywhere else to hang other clothing. In a similar fashion, the bathrooms could have done with a couple of grab handles strategically positioned for the older or infirm guests. The bath in the main bathroom was exceptionally deep and the aged grandmother of the bride could not use it - there was no way she could get out of it without grab handles. There was a lack of a full length mirror anywhere in the lodge, frustrating for some attendees at the wedding wanting to check their outfits before the off. The wedding ceremony and reception afterwards was very good the food on offer (pre-selected) was very good. Sadly some of the waiting staff taking drinks orders were lacking in knowledge of what was available leaving me to make my own way to the main bar so that I could order what I wanted and knew was available. Apart from that the rest of the day went well, probably because Bruce the manager was in constant attendance.

Hi bigbadjoe, Thankyou for your review, i am glad you enjoyed both the food and your 3 night stay in our lodges. We are sorry to hear you have had a disappointing experience in regards to our new App aswell as the service. As the pandemic hit and with the re-opening of our business we had to employ staff to keep up with the demand and staff are both new or settling back down after what has been a tough year. We ask our guests to be patient during this time as staff are trying to get back on their feet with the huge amount of changes that have happened during this unprecedented time. All issues reported were passed onto the relevant departments in order for us to solve these issues. In regards to the bathroom all of our lodges are standard and we do have an accessible lodge that caters for both the elderly and those who may struggle with bath's etc and have the walk-in shower and lowers sinks etc for this reason. We appreciate all of your feedback and will take all of your comments on board. Kind Regards, The Kingennie Team

We were staying in Glen Clova lodge, we had the most peaceful stay and our dog was made so welcome. The staff were lovely, so helpful and friendly. This was our second stay at Kingennie and definitely won’t be our last. Book you won’t regret it.
