The reason I rated this is due to the lack of respect in this hotel. The reception staff are absolutely nice, but its just getting things done is the issue. We requested new towels for the room as house keeping is only on request. So the lady at the reception got onto the radio and requested this, however nothing was done after the first request, and we had to request this the second time, which was then done. Second thing is at breakfast, there was originally table service when we booked this however due to the restrictions changing it went back to buffet. The food is not that great, bacon quite tough as its been sitting there for a while, sausages quite pale, and you get scrambled eggs but no alternatives even if you request it? The kitchen staff don't provide an alternative which is very poor as it could be relating to dietary requirements or someone just doesn't like scrambled eggs. Other thing that has annoyed me is the hotel as 2 metres, social distance still shown around the reception area, however on the lifts, they have details inside but not outside, and earlier one guest was not happy that we didnt let him in the lift and it clearly states inside on the information poster that 2x maximum in the lift or one household, but he was still wanting to come in, staff will need to put this information outside the lifts, whereby people can either read it or not but thats their choice, but rules should still be followed! The room was brilliant and cozy, only thing is paper thin walls, next door to us were either doing the business, jumping up and down the bed, or doing a bedroom makeover, but to be honest I think we all know what was happening, but the banging against the wall made everything shake on our side which if anything got damaged we would have been liable for it! Please be respectful to other guests and if your feeling frisky, please move the beds away from the wall.…
I Stayed over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. I was delighted to be able to be checked in at 1pm. The front desk agent ( Abi) was fantastic and I was given my HH Diamond amenity choice of a drink and a snack item from the pantry and 2 bottles of water. I booked my breakfast time slots at check in . I had room 511 (5th & top floor) with a view across the road to Bash St and a sideways look towards Dundee Law. The room was spotless with 2 twin beds ,tea/coffee, a fridge and a good tv. The bathroom was also spotless with a shower and good water pressure. Dinner was very good with quick service and the food was fresh and hot and very good value for money. The gym was also spotless ( you have to book a timeslot) and good for a workout ( only has a light workout as I spent most of the day walking) The beds were very comfortable. The buffet was an assited buffet with your choice of hot items being put on a plate for you and self service for the cold items. It was very good. Lots of wipes and hand sanitiser and social distancing signs around the hotel. There is a Lidl and Tesco express very close by . The location is very good with about a 10min walk from the railway station ( and the RRS Discovery & V&A Museum) and about a 5min walk from the main shopping street. All the staff were excellent. Overall an excellent stay…
We stayed here for 1 night on driving through Dundee. Service and staff here were excellent all round. Some of the most helpful and friendly we experienced in Scotland on our trip. Hotel is located in Dundee city centre. Plenty of car parking space and hotel was very new and clean. It had a gym which was modern and new, great for a night stop. Large breakfast room and lounge area. Room was of a good size, very clean and bed comfortable. Was the perfect hotel for the night. Couldn’t fault for the price and location. Highly recommended.
Central Hotel which appears to be surrounded by nightclubs - thank god they are shut lol. Check in was simple but rooms usually not ready until 3pm. Parking is quite limited and you have to pay. Room was large, unfortunately the bed wasn't. However the room was clean and well maintained. Bathroom was fab with good shower. Small amount of mould around shower screen at bottom. A small fridge would have made it pretty much perfect. We didn't eat dinner in hotel but did order panninis and toasties for supper and they were delicious. We took them to our room. Sleep was good (apart from small bed). No noise externally. Why can't patrons close doors quietly in hotels? Quite disappointed with breakfast. You need to queue (if its busy). It's a buffet affair. Fruit juice was awful. Watery with no taste. Haggis was tasty, as was sausage. Bacon good but quite cold. My biggest disappointment was the eggs. No choice - only scrambled. When questioned I was told that due to the pandemic they only make one kind. Apparently you can't fry an egg during covid. I obviously jest, but I mean....come on. Bread was good for toast. Hated queueing. All in all - a good stay. Would book again once they do fried/poached eggs. …
Stayed two nights. Excellent hotel, comfy room and easy walk to centre. Breakfast was average, but if included in price, go for it, if not there are plenty of places to eat in the area. Service excellent, plenty of parking onsite.
