We stayed here for 2 nights on a voucher deal, was totally dreading it after reading some of the reviews, but to be fair we has a huge room clean bed, clean towels and it was nice and cosy, and the breakfast was more than expected all fresh, and staff all very friendly and helpful, although the hotel does need a total re vamp and could be made really beautiful… would I return, possibly if I got a cheap deal, but there are nicer hotels to choose from in Oban. But hey thanks to the staff for making our stay comfortable.

Going to make this short, went for 2 nights on a voucher and for the price paid didn't expect the Ritz, and certainly never got it, that being said staff were all nice, room was big with great sea view, bed sheets were clean but bed and pillows so uncomfortable. The hotel is very tired looking in places with squeaky floor boards, but the breakfast was very good, considering what we paid all in all if your looking for somewhere to get your head down for a couple of nights and a decent breakfast for a decent price, then this is the place. Recognise that it's not going to be the Ritz but for the price, it's a good deal. Would I stay again, depending on the bed/pillow situation I would.

Room very smelly. Opened window to air it out to be met with 3 rats running around the bins. Brilliant view… tried lighting a candle to mask the musky smell of the room… but it’s that bad it’s impossible. Mirror all streaky. Lamp broken Toilet leaking Dampness, seal on the sink and the tiles were an absolute disgrace in bathroom. Dust everywhere. Bed extremely squeaky, scared to talk as they squeak. As well as all the floorboards in the entire place! I could hear the people next door, literally every word they said as if they were in the same room as us. Shower curtain covered in mould, sickening. Lifted pillow to find dark spots of who knows what.. Dinner- Seated right at the door. Very awkward atmosphere Thought the table was going to fall everytime someone moved an inch as table was unsteady as was the floor boards! Waitress that served us seemed uncomfortable but done a brilliant job so big applause to her! Every single edge of the table was falling apart, my sleeve got caught numerous times. (We noticed every other table was also falling apart) Simple glue job. Ceiling looked horrific with stains and dampness. I had the salmon terrine. Never tasted stale bread as bad in all my life! Partners goujons were cold. Sea bass was lovely not that there was much too it and the sweet sour chicken was not great. We skipped dessert. On way to Oban we looked the place up on booking.com. We were excited and the place looked great… Nothing like the pictures. I will add pictures of the room. The entire place is needing a good clean, new floors and fresh paint!

I booked this hotel thinking I was going to get what I paid for-a 'superior' double with a sea view. After checking in on Friday 2nd February (after a mammoth 5 hr journey) I have to say my heart sank on approaching the shabby looking hotel exterior. The room itself was utterly disgusting. What looked like dog biscuits were scattered on the floor, dust around all the skirting boards, chipped paint and a bed that had been haphazardly made (with the odd pubic hair on the sheets thrown in for good measure). The room smelled stale and the atmosphere generally awful. As a former hospitality manager (within the Scottish hospitality industry I might add) I can honestly say this is the absolute worst hotel I have ever encountered. After deciding I couldn't stay there (too filthy to even consider lying in that bed) I left as quickly as I could that same Friday night and thankfully was rescued by the fantastic team at Premier Inn. It ended up costing me double (happy to provide invoices to management as proof) but I'd rather pay again than stay in filth. Moral of the story: take a lesson from my mistake and avoid this hotel. The chain brands are more successful for a reason.

Room very small, with a view soooo bad, you would probably get a better view from a prison cell. Way over priced and needing a major upgrade, before it falls down. Saving grace was we only stayed 1 night, and the staff are lovely and polite. Not their fault the hotel is in need of a total overhaul. Plus a good base for ferry.

Liked · A brilliant stay in a wonderful location. Felt welcome right from pre checkin, everyone from reception to hospitality and cleaning staff was tremendous. Room was bigger than I expected. Comfortable bed, great breakfast. Couldn't believe some of the less than positive reviews on here. This hotel is perfect for anyone looking for a great location with the kind of staff you'd hope to have around.

Decided to ignore some of the reviews and gald we did. Comfortable, friendly, sensible, warm, clean and very local to all the facilities in Oban. Parking outside as well. We enjoyed the room and the view along with the walk into town, 5 minutes for dinner and drinks.

Great location, right on the harbour front. Up graded to a sea view with lovely bedroom seating and a wee table to look out at the view and passing boats. Just what I needed. Huge comfy bed and well controlled heating. Room was large and well equipped... however did need some tlc. Holes in various walls (photo shows one area). Food was tasty, with a good choice. It was a special occasion for us but no extras or well wishes were given to us.. This might have been a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay. Thank-you
