We enjoyed the welcoming, relaxed and homely comfort of Five Gables, the pleasing views and enlightening conversations with our hosts. The location was good, only a short drive from Arbroath or a pleasant walk if you enjoy walking. We look forward to seeing you on our next visit Thank you Grace and Gary for making out visit to Arbroath special. Ps the breakfasts were excellent too.

I phoned Gary at Five Gables one day ahead of time to tell him what time I expected to arrive. I mentioned that we had had a tough time with travel logistics during this trip. He said to me: "Well, when you get here, I will make you a cup of tea and you can tell me all about it". I thought I would cry. The sentiment was so sweet and empathetic! And, indeed, both he and his mom were thoughtful and generous for our entire stay. The B&B is replete with considerate details; there were two umbrellas hanging in our room, a tiny flashlight hanging on the room key chain, binoculars next to the bay windows so that you might catch a glimpse of a passing seal or a bird at Grace's bird feeders, DVDs in the rooms, a large bookcase full of books on Scottish history and a refrigerator for the use of guests. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Breakfasts are generous and delicious. Beautiful views of the North Sea. Both Gary and Grace make you feel like a member of the family. I just can't say enough about how pleased we were with our stay at Five Gables. This was my second stay here and it will not be the last.

We stayed in this excellent guesthouse for a total of 5 nights in room number 1. We were welcomed into the the room by a glorious view over the golf course withe sea beyond. The room was homely, lived in and above all very comfortable with a large double bed and a single bed. Space for clothes was at a premium with full size wardrobes and plenty of drawers around the room. The ensuite was spacious and practical. Now the big memory; breakfast! Grace likes to feed people and ensure their needs are fulfilled and ours certainly were and the view from and the early morning sun into the breakfast room eases you into the day. But the breakfast was not just about the quantity but the quality was superb. The 5 Gables is also great for parking as it has its own access road and car park. Also, the house has easy access for people of all ages and abilities. Arbroath can be reached by foot or a 5 minute drive along the coast road. Tourist information is available from Garry, he is a mine of information on the local area and golf. Many thanks to Grace and Garry for a superb stay. We will be back.
