Paid for an Executive Room advertised at 218 sq ft but room was much less with a lot of furniture in. Was unable to walk around the bed and couldn't use the table or chair that were pushed against the wall. Terrace and restaurant were booked out for private functions which resulted in having to find somewhere to eat outside of the hotel. Duty manager said that he couldn't change our small room or allow us to use the bar terrace overlooking the river and we would have to sit inside on a day that was 30c.

It was our first visit to this hotel. We stayed for two nights in an Executive room. The hotel is in the prime location, in the heart of Windsor and by the riverbank. On arrival, we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who provided us with a map and explained where to find the car park with our pre-booked car parking space (parking is located 3 min drive away from the hotel). Our room was not ready, so we left our bags in reception and went to drop the car off in the car park. When we arrived, unfortunately our pre-booked space was not available. We called hotel reception and the same friendly receptionist asked us to come back to the hotel and advised us to park in the private car park next to the hotel. Problem solved great service! We came back to check in at around 16:30, our room was ready but this time we were greeted by a different receptionist. She was not very pleasant at all. I asked about booking Spa facilities and she very abruptly said that the Spa is only open during weekends and it's clearly advertised on the website. I was very surprised at her response as I checked the website a couple of times and I could not find any information about this. Our room was located in Windsor House, which is a building across the road from the hotel. The room was very clean, comfortable and modern. We found restaurant staff very polite and friendly during lunch and dinner, however during breakfast our table did not have enough cutlery or milk. The food in the hotel restaurant was nice but overpriced. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast here. During our stay, we also used onsite gym and it was excellent. Very clean and well equipped. Overall a nice stay but very overpriced considering facilities available.

I have just returned from a one night stay with my daughter and have mixed feelings. The hotel is in a fabulous setting on the river and it was lovely and clean, all areas of the hotel I saw were pristine and well maintained. This was my second visit and I found no fault at all first time, however, sadly this time I do have a few reservations. On checking in we were greeted by a member of staff who did not seem to be interested in providing the welcome one would expect. As we turned away my daughter and I both looked at each other and remarked upon it instantly. A far cry from the lovely friendly lady who welcomed us as we walked through the same area in our way to be bar in the evening. The hotel is described and sold as a Hotel and Spa, however when I asked about booking some time in the spa I was told it would be shut on Tuesday due to the weather (it was still shut on Wednesday). Now I know it was a showery day, but this is England, does this mean it opens only a few days of the year? I felt the £200 I spent on the room and breakfast for one night was highly over priced given the absence of the spa facilities and the dark unimpressive room that was described as Superior but I failed to see why. Another issue was the room was overlooked by a courtyard that had a high footfall of passers-by who looked through the window, so we had to close the curtains throughout the entire time we were in there. A bit miserable on a summer afternoon. Breakfast was well run and food was lovely. However, we were disappointed with the Afternoon Tea. I booked this as a treat for my daughter. After being seated we waited 30 mins before I managed to attract the staff’s attention, tea then arrived with milk arriving around ten minutes later when I had to go over to ask again. After that the serving staff were attentive and keen to ensure we were well looked after, there were lovely sandwiches and we were offered refills of drinks and more sandwiches. They were aware I wasn’t initially very happy and when the bill arrived they had deducted £5 and the service charge. What I will say was a shame were the selection of small cakes which are traditionally offered alongside sandwiches and scones. They were uninspiring and tasteless. One of them was completely dry. At £26 per head not including service charge which is automatically added, I would have expected something more appetising and perhaps more attractive. All in all I have been left with a very different impression of the hotel and won’t be returning. Although I appreciate the afternoon tea wasn’t the pleasurable experience we had hoped for, I know sometimes these things just happen, and at least the staff recognised it and made the small compensation. However, I think it was unacceptable to give no advance warning the spa facilities at a spa hotel are unavailable. The room was over priced and not all staff were friendly and welcoming.

We stayed a the Sir Christopher Wren as part of a trip to a family wedding and thought we would stop off for a couple of days in Windsor. We were met by a sur.y receptionist and although we were pleased to find our room was ready 4 hours before check - in we were treated very matter of factly and no real welcome to the hotel. When we went to our room we understood why it was ready as it had a really musty smell and my husband went and bought some air freshener from a local shop. I don’t think anyone had stayed in there for awhile. The room was along a corridor and windows couldn’t be opened - there was an air conditioning unit in the room. Which on the second day started to drip down the wall onto the electric sockets ( we did report this to the hotel) The. Room was one of their superior rooms and was meant to be bigger than their standard rooms we could barely walk round the bed and the tea tray was lacking - we did ask for me tea and milk and was left lots of biscuits a couple of tea bag and 2 milk sachets!! Breakfast was a bit chaotic and after waiting nearly 15 minutes to find where we got the tea and coffee from we managed to ask one of the waitresses and she said ‘oh you ask me for tea and coffee’ In most hotels the waiter/waitress or takes you to your table normally takes you hot drink order not this one. The buffet was adequate and we were able to fill up for the day of sightseeing. We were a little upset the terrace was only open till 7pm as it would of been lovely to sit out in the evening with a drink and look out to the river especially as the weather was so lovely when we visited The location is excellent and in the centre of all the tourists spots such as Windsor Castle etc. I do think if this hotel wasn’t in such a prime spot it definitely would not be a 4 star hotel

We were disappointed from the arrival when they moved our room but still tried to charge the higher price without telling us. When you’re paying these prices there should be a discount despite the pandemic for no cleaning, no towels,no gym or spa access because you should disclose it on your website. Premier inns in central London are more service oriented than this. Breakfast is a rip off over £30 a day ! There’s a Costa over the bridge. Main pros air con and costa staff need training ..
