We made a mistake with our reservation and they were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the room which was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and had great variety. Especially liked the pastries. Very well done. Easy to get to from Stonehenge.

We found the Cricket Field House using Fodor’s travel guide. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The people we interacted with were all warm and welcoming, and they were quick to help you with anything you asked. The room is spacious. The bathroom is on the medium to smaller side. I don’t believe our towel rack worked — I tried all of the switches outside the bathroom, and the temp control for the shower took quite a bit of manhandling to get to a lower temp range. The breakfast we added on was delicious, and when I expressed appreciation for the flavor of the tea, the lady gave me a couple of tea bags to take with me. They serve breakfast from 8-9:30, but they still let me grab a couple of pieces of toast and bacon around 7:45 to fix a sandwich to take with us on the road since we left out before breakfast started. The road it is on is pretty busy but manageable. The prices were reasonable. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear people in the hallway and overhead, but it’s not like anyone was throwing parties so that didn’t bother us. My one complaint is that there were some hygiene issues. There was mold in the bathroom and I kept finding hairs that weren’t mine in and on the sheets. If it weren’t for that, I would 100% give this place 5+ stars.

We had a fabulous stay here last weekend with my in-laws. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are excellent, clean and very spacious, whilst the breakfast was perfect. Although the weather was rather inclement, we could see how the pretty garden would be very attractive in the summer. Thank you very much

This is the second time we have stayed here!! And I’ll be honest I won’t stay anywhere else when we are down in this part of the country! Lovely welcome! Amazing apartment and such good value! I stayed at a 5 star earlier this year and it was no where near as good as this. My kids love it here, it’s so welcoming and clean. Beds are super comfortable! The breakfast is always amazing! If I could give this place 10 stars I would

This is a charming B&B. Helen and Jason are wonderful inn keepers and accommodated our early arrival and late departure like it was no trouble at all. While we were waiting for the taxi to take us to Heathrow at 6 pm, Helen gave us coffee and cookies. This is just an example of what felt like individualized service the 3 days we enjoyed their hospitality. And the breakfast—we had just spent 14 days on a cruise ship and Jason’s breakfast outshone those offerings. English bacon, butcher shop sausage, eggs to order, an assortment of fruits, yogurts, pastries and breads (including crumpets which was a real treat to us Americans). Our room was well appointed, clean, well-stocked with coffee and tea and had large windows that we could leave open to hear kids playing on the nearby sports field. Helen was helpful with advice about the scenic route into town, how to navigate the bus system, and the advisability of renting a car for a couple of days. There is a generous car park area and it seems that several guests took advantage of the free parking. We highly recommend Cricket Field House. .

This was our second stay at CFH and wow it just gets better every time. My partner and I were travelling with our 6 month old daughter and it was such an easy experience. The staff are really lovely and friendly. Helen the lady who checked us in was lovely and showed us around and gave us some local recommendations in the area as wanted to explore a bit more this time around. We stayed in the Umpire apartment which was lovely and clean, the sheets are amazing. We slept so well. Also to mention the baby cot was high quality something which is always a worry when travelling with a bambino. The breakfast was lovely. Jason I believe who is in the kitchen makes a great poached egg! That’s well worth returning for!!! On the whole a lovely little home away from home. Nothing is too much trouble and we will definitely be back hopefully sooner rather than later. Ignore the bad reviews. It’s not a 5 star hotel, but it’s clean cozy and quiet with great staff. What more could you want 😊 Great job!!! ⭐️

We made the decision based on the combination of the attractiveness of pictures on the website and the many extremely complementary reviews on TripAdvisor On a positive note, the location is excellent, the grounds are beautiful, the breakfast room was very attractive, the food was very good, on the serving staff were very pleasant. Superficially, our room was also very attractive – well decorated with a wonderful view, and several large windows that could be opened to take in the fresh air. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive features ended. Our room needed serious maintenance. The once off-white carpet was in bad need of cleaning, Several features in the bathroom were broken, the coffee maker did not work, and there was a significant amount of black grime around the baseboards of the bathroom and shower. Worst of all was the condition of the bedsheets. If they had been changed at all, the sheets were badly worn With spots and the remnants of a very visible stain. I would simply say to the owners that you have a beautiful property, but your failure to properly maintain it to the most basic standards of cleanliness is going to come at a considerable cost.

We have never stayed in a property with such appalling hygiene standards. The carpet was dirty throughout and appeared unvacuumed with evidence of hair and debris everywhere. The couches were grimy, there was mould all through the bathroom including inside picture frames (see photos below). There was a terrible stench in the bathroom which seemed to be coming from the shower drain and permeated throughout the apartment. To top everything off the sheets on the beds hadn't been changed - just dirty old sheets left on! We tried to book alternative accommodation nearby as we were completely grossed out but everywhere was full. For context, we spent 2 weeks in the Salisbury area in total and stayed in various other accommodations. They were all clean, and we got what we paid for. Cricket Field House describes The Umpire Apartment as a luxury apartment with a sumptuous bathroom on their website. We chose to make our booking via Booking.com who rated the property as 9.6 out of 10. In reality it is well below average. I've added a few of the many photos we took showing the general state of the apartment. What you see in these photos is just the tip of the iceberg - not one photo is an isolated incident. It was like the room had been used as a flat by young people who had not cleaned it properly in a year and had not changed their sheets in months. We booked this apartment based on the good reviews on Booking.com and know others will too, but feel really strongly that people are not being sold what they are expecting for the price (we paid 218 pounds). Based on our experience I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. On a positive note when we told the receptionist the beds hadn't been changed she came up to take a look and acknowledged that they hadn't been done. She returned with bedding and changed them herself, and as they'd run out of clean pillow cases, she used some of her own!

What a great find this was. We stayed for one night en-route to The Cotswolds and explored Salisbury, which is a lovely town. We were met by the owner Jason, who was very nice and showed us to our room. We stayed in room 11 (Wicket), which is a lovely, well furnished room with a view of the cricket field. We had a king size bed which was very comfortable. If i'm being ultra critical, the shower room could do with a bit of TLC, in particular to the grouting. The walk to Salisbury centre is about 25 minutes or about £10 in a taxi. At breakfast we met the co-owner Helen, who was delightful and a great host. The breakfast was well-presented, hot and tasted great. In particular the sausage was amazing - probably the nicest I have ever had! Would 100% recommend Cricket Field House and hope to return in the future.
