We stayed for 2 nights and have to say it was absolutely fantastic. Rooms spacious and clan beautiful decor . Host Durga and his family very hospitable and welcoming. Breakfast was beautiful. Fantastic location near Barbican centre just outside city wall .
Stayed one night and was really impressed with Durga who was very welcoming and accommodating. The bedroom and bathroom was absolutely spotless and they'd thought of everything for your stay. A teapot, hallelujah! The bed was so comfortable. It was a perfect location too for the Barbican centre. Would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time staying here. It’s close to the barbican Centre which is what we wanted. Our room was clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable we both slept good. Breakfast was lovely and very tasty. Durga who is the owner is welcoming and made our stay great. He always remembered our names and was brilliant at his job. We would definitely stay here again.
Barbican House is a quaint and welcoming guest house in the perfect location to access York very easily on foot or using local public transport. Our room was on the ground floor, the furniture is quite large but the room was sufficently spacious for our stay with a clean and well stocked shower room with a good shower and plenty of hot water! The bed was very comfortable with rather sumptious bedding. Durga is possibly Barbican House's secret weapon, he is a wonderful host absolutely dedicated to ensuring you feel welcome - his ability to remember every guest's name was astounding - greeting everyone by name at breakfast and as they went in and out. There is limited parking available but Durga will do his utmost to ensure that everyone who needs parking has it! The breakfast was extremely good, it was obvious that fresh high quality ingredients were used and it was very nicely served. The range of fresh fruit and the quality of the bacon were particularly good. We were attending a wedding at very nearby Calvary Chapel - Durga graciously let us check in early so that we could park the car and collect our key in order that we didn't need to leave the proceedings to do so at the allotted time - we were really grateful for his thoughtfulness. Just one note that isn't perhaps fully clear in communication is that a BACS transfer is preferred to a credit card - the wording on the information just says that it is welcomed which could be misinterpreted as accepted rather than very much preferred. However, we would highly recommend a stay at Barbican House when visiting the beautiful city of York and very much hope to return again.…
Stayed on a Saturday & Sunday, great location for access to city centre. Greeted by Durga the owner an arrival with a big smile & welcome. We were in room 6 at the top of the house. A spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower. Everything was immaculate, spotless to be honest. Couldn’t fault it, breakfast is on offer if you choose to have it. Mixture of fruit, cereal & a traditional English breakfast. Coffee, tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Cannot add anymore, definitely stay here again.
Good location, sights, restaurants etc all within easy walking distance. Delicious cooked breakfast and a good selection of other breakfast items available. Friendly host and we were given a map of York on arrival. Tidy room with coffee/tea making facilities and biscuits and a bottle of water. Would recommend this place!
What a beautiful guest house! Durga is a true gentleman and made us feel very comfortable. The location is great, only a short walk into the centre, the facilities were perfect and the breakfast was wonderful, in a very calming dining room. It was everything we could have wished for!
Great find, walking distance from centre, free parking, tasty well cooked breakfast. Staff friendly, rooms clean with good facilities. Some traffic noise from inner ring road but who cares as so central.
We always stay here when visiting York. Lovely hosts, clean rooms and quiet location. Free parking if required. Have had breakfast on previous stays, didn’t have time this stay but I would urge people to have their lovely full English breakfast. 1minute walk from Barbican Centre if you are seeing a show then it’s a perfect location.
Had 2 great days /nights stay at this Lovely B&B although we didn t have breakfast , free car parking was available which was a bonus our room n05 was very clean and spacious adequate storage space for our things although the room has a radiator it s at the back of the bed headboard so it restricts the heat ,complimentary biscuits to go with tea and coffee. The bathroom was very good nice shower with accessories provided. When we arrived we were greeted by Sabina the owners daughter who explained all the house rules and breakfast arrangements and if you did nt know york explained where the nice restaurants were situated on the free York map provided. We w[ll certainly be coming back it is only a 10 minute walk into the centre.
