My sister and I, together with our parents stayed for 2 nights this week. The rooms are quiet, spacious and modern with very good facilities. Location is ideal within easy walking distance of York Minster and the National Railway Museum. Engaging, attentive and courteous staff from check-in to check out made our stay even more pleasant. Could not fault it.
The hotel is in a fantastic location in the centre of York. It has a lovely big open reception area. Reception staff, staff during breakfast & those on the terrace were welcoming and friendly. We booked a club twin room(2 x friends). The room had a great view, was very clean & the beds were really comfortable. My only small criticisms/constructive feedback was the open plan style bedroom/bathroom. It did not cause a big problem but having tinted glass on the shower door would have been appreciated, especially in twin rooms. Also some blinds or see out not in tinted panels between the sink and bedroom would offer more privacy for getting dried/changed after a shower. We also opted for our room not to be cleaned during our 2 nt stay but found the cleaner had been in, had emptied the bins & changed the towels but did not leave a clean floor mat for outside the shower & took our robes without replacing them for our 2nd night stay. The terrace bar was lovely and provided amazing views. It’s such a shame it is not open on a Monday , especially as the weather was so fantastic & returning there on such lovely days/evenings would have been great & would no doubt have attracted plenty of customers. The breakfast was lovely with a lot of continental and cooked breakfast options with efficient service. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again.…
We came here for my 18th birthday as well as celebrating the end of my A Levels and as a treat I had a facial at the spa! The two ladies there Beth and Sophie where so lovely and made the experience super special. It really felt like they went over and above to make it a memorable experience. Our room was lovely, very clean and great design, the whole hotel has a really great vibe around it created by the staff (the receptionist Mel really helped with that too) and the decor! Would highly recommend having drinks up at Sora as someone who loves Japan and alcohol it was a great mix. The food in both Sora and the restaurant are amazing too and both again with lovely staff. Overall highly recommend! Plus it's got such a convenient location as well!
This was our first time staying at a Malmaison Hotel and the York hotel is amazing. It over looks the historic bar walls and Lendal Bridge. All the staff were really friendly, particular mentions to Fran on Reception, very welcoming and so helpful, Katy who greeted and looked after us at breakfast time ( all the breakfast staff were fab). Thank you to the Housekeeping staff, our room was amazing, a fabulous bathroom with double bath and huge shower room, dressing room, lounge and huge bed with television hidden behind a sliding cupboard door. We are really looking forward to staying in a Malmaison Hotel again. Thank you York Malmaison.
We used one of the 'Work and Play' rooms for an all-day workshop. The set-up in the room was great, lunch was lovely, and we received fantastic assistance throughout the day from our host Abdalla. Also very convenient for York station.
The rooftop tapas bar has a great view of York Minster with inside seating for less sunny days. The Japanese tapas food menu was tasty and cocktails interestingly different from your normal mixes. Great service by Lottie. Well worth a visit.
It’s a great location for visiting York. Only a five minute walk from the cathedral and the railway museum. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant menu was acceptable but nothing special. Decent breakfast and service in all departments polite and friendly.
The guys Sam & Liv are the guys that will seal it...for me to comeback The rooftop excellent The Bar brilliant (the guys above) The rooms great Decor spot on So close to station and everyone and i mean everyone so lovely and warm...good customer service
All staff was genuinely friendly, very helpful and helped eachother beautifully! We were on a 2wk coach tour of England/ lots of hotels and this is our favorite. The food was fabulous, the best croissants and toffee pudding of all the hotels, and the dinners were gourmet and super delicious. They have a bona-fide chef and wait people who really care and work perfectly together! It was so pleasant to stay there!
Five ladies for birthday celebration. Setting is beautiful in skybar... booked by 2 hour slots. Drinks OK for type of place. Food is Japenese tapas, expensive bits of raw fish, decoratively presented on ice. Service main issue. Miserable girl on bar reception desk, waitresses with equally miserable faces. Although they brought things when ordered, we were surrounded by uncleared tables, including ours when things empty. Had to give items to waiter to clear table space. Not an experience to be repeated.
