Lovely place. Stayed here a few times. Central location. Stayed in a standard room and was clean and more than sufficient for a weekend away. Have stayed in the deluxe rooms before and they were nice too. Breakfast was good. Only downside was the weather!
Fantastic, friendly staff gave a warm welcome, and enthusiastic advice on what to see in York. Lovely room, clean and comfortable. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I have ever stayed in. In fact, better than my own bed. Supportive enough for a bad back, but with just enough memory foam to be like sleeping on a cloud. Excellent location, short walk from station and city centre. Can't recommend it highly enough.
We stayed for one night and can only say everything about the hotel is fantastic. The lady and gentleman on reception couldn't have made us more welcome. The room was so nice really worth the money. The breakfast staff were very efficient and the food was excellent. We will definitely stay here again
Came a second time during our York visit. Found by accident. Really efficient operation and great front of house staff. Nice space out front for some early evening Easter beer and food. I found staff really friendly and speedy with orders. Worth reserving at weekend I expect. Good quality pizza and also nice tacos, but I needed two taco dishes. Beer good and the odd cocktail we tried was also nice. Next time in York I'll be back.
The Churchill was a nice enough hotel in a fantastic location for exploring York. We had a family room as we have young children and we found the childrens beds to be much too small - even for our 8 year olds. We were also only provided with 2 large towels for a family of 4 which isn’t ideal for a 3 night stay. Our room overlooked the carpark so we kept the curtains closed for privacy which made the room feel dark. Breakfast was okay but we had better breakfasts in some of the vast cafes up the road. Our shower was warm for the first few days (Not hot and we could never get it to a high enough temperature) and then on our last morning it was barely warm enough to stand under. Parking is an absolute nightmare, cars are double parked and there’s no space at all. We ended up parking in a local car park and paying £60 for the pleasure. The hotel then charged us for parking but they did promptly refund this. The staff we met were all very accommodating and polite.…
