Nice not to be in a chain hotel but still large enough to accommodate a group of 38. Interesting collection of buildings too and beautiful gardens. In a quiet road but only 10 minutes stroll into the City Centre. One thing to be aware of is that they don't have lifts because the buildings are Grade II listed but they do have plenty of ground floor rooms

What a wonderful place to stay. The staff are charming and just so polite and helpful. The tall bar man chap is a real hoot. They coped with all my dietary requests which is a miracle. The food was excellent, loved my breakfast. The whole hotel is so well maintained it is a joy to stay there. Short walk to town. It’s the place to stay in York.

Middletons organised afternoon tea for 30 family and friends following my mother’s funeral. Despite the sad occasion everyone really enjoyed it - quality and presentation were first rate and people could sit outside as well as in the conservatory. The staff were great - so polite, respectful and helpful throughout. Thanks very much to all, including Becky for the organisation.

Excellent service and friendly staff.Our stay was without exception the best experience. The hotel and facilities are first rate and location of the hotel is without doubt ideal for the town centre.Sight seeing is close by and Yorkshire country side is close.

We had a wonderful stay in January 2022 for an early birthday present. Staff at the hotel were really friendly on arrival and the hotel was fantastic. We enjoyed the bar area in reception and also the quieter conservatory section too. Grounds of the hotel are lovely and the location with parking onsite was excellent! Staff gave us a map and talked us through what was available in the area. The rooms were really lovely, plenty of space and nicely decorated. They were really clean and well stocked on tea/coffee items. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend for a stay in York city centre.
