This budget hotel was great, the rooms are very small and definitely go with someone you know well as shower, sink and changing space (none) are all in one room! That said, bed was comfy, clean towels and small tv made it great for one night. Breakfast was continental but an excellent choice in a buffet style and unlimited hot drinks. Cappuccino was quite good actually!
Staff were pleasant and helpful at check in and out. Location was good for the Jack the Ripper tour of Whitechapel and a quick late night snack from nearby subway shop.

Express checkin and checkout was used for the hotel. according to their system, the keys were ready and can be collected without waiting on arrival. On arrival, there were a group of 6 people in front of us at the tabletennis table where check in was dealt with, this took over 15 minutes. The group were all dealt with one by one. As we (group of 5) got to be checked in, the worker typed in the booking code and had all 5 of us in the system. Again, each of us were dealt with one by one, after calling out the persons name, he checked if express checkout was activated, left through through a door and came back 3-5 minutes later with a key. this way the total check in time took over 45 minutes! about the same time as it took us from heathrow to the hotel. Once we got to the sixth floor, we found one of the keys was not working. After heading back down to the reception, the person who checked us in said he knew it would not work, that is the broken key.
breakfast was a waste of money. there were cut up french stick, small croissants, cheese and ham, musli and some small cupcakes. The hot water for the tea on one of the coffee machines looked like a black coffee. At least Travellodge has a full English breakfast - which you would at least expect from a hotel in the UK. Many pubs had a full english breakfast for about the same price paid in the hotel, thanks for nothing. The rooms were what you can expect from an Ibis budget, simple and reasonable. when asleep we were not waken by nearby traffic allthough near a hospital with some abulance sirens now and then outside. As an idea, it would be nice if the shower door was on the other side as the water would not run out through the opening/handle and onto the floor in front of the shower. there were no toilet brushes which might be embarrassing for some.
it was a bit wierd to have a sign in the room telling you about only changing towles on the floor and donating to local farmers if they are not swapped. the towles were hung up on the shower door to be "not on the floor", yet they were changed anyway.

We stay here on a regular basis. It is near 2 underground stations, the bus stops right outside the hotel, so very convenient for public transport. It is spotlessly clean, rooms are basic but have everything one needs. The staff are beyond amazing, each and every staff member we had dealings with, were friendly, extremely helpful, courteous and welcoming. There is a breakfast area which is also availble to sit and work, use the microwave and be sociable during the rest of the day, which really appeals to us. It is also very quiet in the bedrooms, outside noise is not noticeable.

I often stay at the ibis budget London Whitechapel - Brick Lane when I am in town for work and I typically find the hotel is good value for money. During my last stay I was extremely disappointed by the attitude of the staff member at reception who categorically refused to lend me a hairdryer as I didn't have a £10 note on me for the deposit. Working in the hospitality sector myself I understand there are processes to be followed but he clearly did not want to find a solution to help me not to go to my meeting in the cold with my hair soaking wet. Thankfully he was busy when I came back to reception 5 minutes later to do my checking and one of his colleague spontaneously offer me a hairdryer when she saw me. I didn't get her name but thanks for saving me from catching a pretty bad cold!

When they said no frills that is exactly what they meant. The room was clean and comfortable but could have been designed a little better. The full length mirror was against a wall in a dark corner and where you needed to stand to look in it was a shelf with room to hang clothes underneath - a little more thought needed. There was no noise from other residents though and the bathroom (wetroom) was clean and serviceable with hot water and clean towels.

Dear DiL235, Thanks for having taken the time of leaving a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay although we feel sorry you did not find the design of the room very comfortable. It is great to hear in any case feed back as yours as this may prompt a change on the design for future ibis budgets. Ibis is indeed a budget hotel. No staff in the lobby, no shampoo or lotion, no ice, no room telephone for a wake up call, etc. The building exterior looked worse than the interior, which was clean and contemporary in style. There's a set of stairs before getting to the elevators. The check in staff are located on the second floor, using their iPads. Our room had a double bed and a single bed. It was nice to have an extra bed space, but our room was nearly wall to wall with the beds, probably tight even by European standards. We thought the breakfast was better than the usual Continental fare. It included meats, yogurt and cheese in addition to the carbs. The hotel is less than a 10 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station, in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood that felt reasonable safe. Our tour package included this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and super helpful. However, the room was just too small as I could wash my hands in the sink and start the shower while still in bed.
There was no closet but only a bar about 6 inches long in one corner with 6 hangers.
There were no washcloths, no shampoo, no hair dryer, no iron, and the pillows were flat as a pancake!
The Whitechapel neighborhood did not make me feel safe and comfortable!

Booked for a night, reason behind trip to London was to show the city to a relative who had never been in the UK before, and therefore wanted to visit the capital.
At check in, and explaining this, the staff member changed our rooms to ones that he believed were better. To my relative he gave one which had a better view to the city, to make her first London experience more special.
Also, and because I didn't remember if I had booked the rooms with breakfast included, he checked it, saw that we didn't had breakfast included but he automatically provided us with complementary breakfast.
Beds were comfortable, rooms were very nice, and the breakfast (although with not a lot of options) was good.
So, very pleased indeed with the experience.

Had a fabulous Black Friday deal so the hotel was really, really reasonable.
The location is little sketchy, probably not the nicest for a single female but it's along a busy road so probably ok.
Had a Nest room which was 'traditional' room with separate bathroom/toilet. Very clean and tidy.
This is a very basic room - but if you just need a nice, no frills place with a private bathroom this is an excellent option. No shower gel, no tea/coffee making facilities but personally, I really don't care if I have a clean bed and a clean bathroom.
The pillows could be better, that's the only improvement.
Staff are super friendly and nice. The lobby is great for having a take away (and there are tons of food places around Whitechapel).
This is a budget hotel, I have stayed in much more expensive places in London that have been much worse.

More affordable than most of London yet the transport links make it still really convenient for getting across the city. The City is walkable as is Whitechapel including Brick Lane. Good cycle routes or Tube/Elizabeth Line for travel further into London.

Room was small and basic but clean and functional and the WiFi was good enough for a week of work calls from either the tiny “desk” or the seating downstairs which is used for breakfast but available to sit at the rest of the day too.
