Stayed 5 nights. First night was in room 15 (avoid if you want to sleep) right above reception with loud music till 3am, it’s also one of the first rooms at the top of the first flight of stairs so everyone has to walk past your door and the hard wood floors creek like no tomorrow just outside. Also no windows and the shower doesn’t work properly.
We told them to move us the following night, was moved to room 31. 100 times better, big windows to the street, traffic noise wasn’t bad, a lot of stairs if you have a bit of luggage. Roof top terrace was good. The showers work for about 30ish seconds then turn of for 1ish min. When we spoke to reception, apparently this is due to a localised problem in the area. Which I find it hard to be leave as I have lived in the area. I think it’s more a cost to fix problem.

I use this hostel possibly less than 10 times. The staff was always helpful at the desk, and on the one occasion I had issues, they upgraded me to a better room with an ensuite I did not know they offered.
Apart from that, it is a very busy hostel near a club of sorts, and the patrons are mostly young people having fun, so it can be lively.
The rooms and bathrooms are decent enough, but in summer they do lack air conditioning that can make it pretty difficult to bear.

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom. The room was located at the front, where many entertainment venues were also located. Earplugs would not have been an unnecessary luxury. Nevertheless, a very pleasant experience, very friendly staff, do everything to make your stay as desired. I would definitely come back here, but I will bring my earplugs to sleep a little more soundly 😇

Nothing better to say. I booked a room super far in advance only to find out the hostel cancelled my booking without even saying why. I'm super upset and do not recommend this hostel if you want to be sure to have accommodation the day you travel. Needless to say that other available hostels were super far, more expensive and do not offer the same services. But, they did not cancel ;)

Came after 30 hours travel to not get more than 5 minutes of sleep straight at this place. People walked past the room and the bed would literally shake from each footstep. Booked a private room, yet the walls were so thin, I could hear people pee and flush in the bathrooms, as well as hear doors open and close throughout the entire building. The shutters were broken and wouldn't close + pieces would fall off every time you tried to close it. There was a sink in the room which was great, except that it leaked straight through and left a huge puddle undernearth. Only thing available for 'free breakfast' was cereal and toast. After a few days of no sleep, I had to forfeit the remainding half of the booking cost to save what was left of the trip.

This is a disaster when we received the email from booking.com this morning where the hostel cancelled our booking without any explanation. This is so wrong as we can't get the same budget to stay at the same location when the day comes closer. For those going to book the hostel, think twice before you book this hostel.

I made a reservation to stay here months ago, and have just received an email from booking.com stating that the Dictionary Hostel has cancelled my reservation. I was supposed to stay here in 2 weeks, so with it being so close to the date of my trip, I can't find any alternative within a reasonable price and have literally no idea what I'm going to do. I haven't even received any apology or explanation as to why this has happened. If you want to make sure you will have a place to stay, don't book the Dictionary Hostel or you might end up with nowhere to stay like me.

upon arrival, I found that the hostel had closed a few days earlier. They didn't bother even to send an email. Apparently, they have new owners and management, but I wouldn't trust them after how they treated their customers upon that transformation - information about cancellation came a day after my stay there would end, there is no contact with the object ever since, I'm still waiting for a refund. They even had the audacity to ask for a positive review in exchange for a small discount on next stay there. Avoid those people and all their businesses!

Cool space and environment for anyone looking to spend a night in the heart of London for a very reasonable price to service ratio. So for paying the hostel price what i got was private room and premium hotel service. Would totally recommend for all backpackers & travelers who want to save some cash and still have a good accommodation.

If you want a comfortable nights sleep i wouldn't recommend it. Was like sleeping on a plank of wood.

Staff seemed more interested in what music to put on that actually helping guests.

Positives - Cheap, great coffee shop on the ground floor, good location.

Children (under the age of 16) cannot be accommodated at the hostel. Under 18’s cannot stay in any shared dorms, they can stay in private rooms when accompanied by an adult over 18 years. Please note that, bookings cannot be accepted for guests under the age of 18 unless they are over 16 and accompanied by an adult, and guests under the age of 18 cannot be accepted on Friday and Saturday nights.
