Good location as I needed to be in Penge (it happens). The room was very clean and comfortable. When I entered the room it was quite cold but the heater worked quite quickly to improve matters. Linen good, bed comfortable, TV a bit small but it is a no-thrills hotel. Walls are a bit thin bt fortunately no frenetic activity from other guest kept me awake. This is not an old enough hotel to show signs of wear and tear but it seems looked after, as if Travelodge are making an effort.

Stayed here for 9 nights recently and overall had a very positive experience.

The room was spacious and very clean, with a comfortable bed and beautiful views across Crystal Palace and beyond. The bathroom had a good shower although the absence of any ventilation meant it did get unbearably hot in there.

The reception staff were very helpful - when they were there!

The location is reasonable, there's a decent selection of cafés, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. There's a bus stop opposite the hotel where the 176 will take you right into Tottenham Court Road, plus Penge West train station is a short walk away so getting around London isn't hard.

Our biggest bugbear was the lack of housekeeping. While we understand services are still reduced due to Covid, to not have our bathroom cleaned/soap replenished/bin emptied at all for 9 days was poor to say the least. The sum total of our "housekeeping" was having clean towels left on our bed once. We had to go asking for toilet roll etc and there was absolutely no hoovering, cleaning, fresh bed linen etc... given our stay was after so-called "freedom day" and Covid is no longer a big issue, it seems rather ridiculous to be continuing to restrict housekeeping to this extent.

Overall we'd definitely stay again, subject to the above being resolved!

My, how stressful London is during this strange time. The only respite was my relaxing stay here. The beautiful blonde lady on reception was a delight to speak with and I had to pinch myself to remember my wife was standing next to me (oh, she noticed, dear reader. Currently half-way through my obituary). The room was clean and the view is tremendous, will bring my binoculars next time to spot the many birds that spill out from Crystal Palace park.

We stayed here originally only because the 'R' rate is much lower in this area of London than others, and based on our experience we will not hesitate to stay again.

Positives :
One star for the wonderful bed
One star for the room as clean and good size.

Negatives :
Car park generally unlit and quite scary for single women as I was. Quite dark around the entrance from the car park with men hanging around probably smoking but it was unnerving as so dark

Only one friendly trainee member of staff on the front desk who couldn’t answer any question including whether the hotel did food. The website has a photo of a bar so I assumed food but no bar and no food.

The vending machine, as that is all there was, wouldn’t let me buy more than one thing at a time even though it should have done. I asked if someone could help and the trainee just looked at me and the other two behind him in a room totally ignored me. I was very polite.

Everything needed a repaint, the corridors and lifts were just a bit grotty.

There was no shower gel in the dispenser in the shower so I had to shower and wash my hair using the hand wash which was not good. This was really the final straw.

The couple of packets of coffee in the room were stained with coffee or tea marks obviously dripped from other cups made previously which just added to the grubbiness of the whole place. I’m sure overall it was clean but it just all appeared grubby and needs sorting out.

One door in the corridor literally slammed on and off all night every time someone walked through it which was loud and I heard it every time.

I had stayed in the Covent Garden Travelodge only two weeks before in a super room which was £20 cheaper than what I paid for this Crystal Palace room and the whole experience was 100% better.

I won’t stay again and actually suggest no single woman does unless they sort out the lighting in the car park and around the entrance and move the smoking area away from that same entrance. Very disconcerting.

Location was superb for what I wanted but next time will probably book the Premier Inn in Bromley for a whole better experience. Such a shame as nothing else in that vicinity and they could make it so much better, I just didn’t feel safe overall and if felt grubby.

We stayed for a family visit over Christmas. Our initial impression was that it was a large room, very airy, windows open as a covid precaution, very clean altho carpet worn and marked. Bathroom very clean, shower good and powerful. Heating was easy to use. The bed was fantastic, we slept very well. There is noise from outside as the hotel is on the corner of a main road, but if you shut the windows you can't hear it. also you get accustomed to the traffic noise quickly
We were very impressed at the value for money it offered. Also it is near cafes, bars, supermarkets etc.
Staff were lovely. Because of covid, you have to ask if you want clean cups/towels/ more coffee etc, as they don't automatically service the room, you can have towels, clean cups, more tea/coffee etc whenever you like. Staff very smiley and helpful
It was a great discovery for us and we are definitely going to stay again as very convenient for visiting family, it's also near lots of buses, some going into central London.

We stayed for 4 days while visiting our daughter over Christmas, and I simply cannot fault this Travelodge. We booked the stay well in advance, as the blond lady on the reception suggested 2 years ago, and we got extremely reasonable price. The room was spotless, windows were left slightly open to air the room well and minimise the risk (and we really appreciated it as this was our first trip after the lockdown), only 30 min of wifi is free, but our data was more than enough for our stay.

The only thing to look out for are pigeons, as we left the window open to the max during the first day and came back to a little cold visitor seeking some warmth on our windowsill. It flew right out, and we kept window opened less and had no further visits. I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the area, the manager and the reception staff are all very pleasant, the housekeeping team is very helpful, and as we learned this time- this hotel accepts pets, so our little dog will definitely join us next time.

Andreea is utterly amazing, and the reason I choose to spend more coming to stay here as opposed to Best Western or AirBnb even though they might be cheaper. She is a credit to your establishment, and really truly awesome. She not only welcomes you with a smile, and is incredibly helpful, but also understands my needs as a customer. I travel a lot for work and I have stayed here a lot. Andreea has noticed and has been doing the best at trying to help me feel comfortable, get the rest I need, and get some consistency - which is very much needed when travelling a lot. She always make sure to try and give me the same room where possible. I often arrive at really late times, and she is always ready with a room key and a kind word. Absolute legend.

Having stayed at the Bournemouth,Balham & this travelodge over the last couple of months, this is the best of the bunch.

The bournemoth hotel was very noisy ( room 206 ) & restricted paid parking.
The Balham hotel was ok apart from no parking at the hotel & a bit of a pain to park in surrounding roads.
The Crystal palace ( or Penge as a previous reviewer pointed out ) was without doubt the best of the bunch, plenty of free parking ( this can add up to £20 at other London hotels )
Our room was clean/tidy & with a very good bathroom, lots of hot water & a bath with a lovely shower.
Our room 901 was not that quiet but next time we will request one away from the lifts.
Reception staff friendly & helpfull ( all travelodge staff are though )
We had 2 nights here & next time we visit London ( which is very often ) we will stay here again.

Stayed for a few days with a few work mates, was dubious at first because it doesn’t look like a typical travelodge from the outside, however. Once on the inside we were greeted by a most friendly and helpful receptionist named Jessica who booked us in and advised us on how the cards worked. There were some missing items in my colleague’s room which again Jessica had no problem replacing with a smile at 4am. All in all the rooms are clean the hotel itself is quite basic but comfortable, the car park is great for workers who need space for vehicles and it’s free unlike some other travelodges I have been to previously.
