Raffles London is located in what was the Old War Office building, known today as The OWO. It was once home to legends such as Sir Winston Churchill and Lord Haldane. Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond, was a regular visitor to the building and many scenes from the 007 movies have been filmed on location here. This building's history is associated with spies and espionage as MI5 and MI6 had operations here during the 20th century. Located in the heart of Whitehall, it has been meticulously restored and is now home to Raffles London at The OWO - an Epic Stage for Modern Tastemakers.

I was fortunate enough to spend three nights at the Raffles, entertaining some guests who are from the hospitality industry, and I’ve been itching to spend some time within this newly refurbished hotel.

From arrival through the understated entrance into the beautiful, historic courtyard - offset with the stunning architecture of café laperues our stay throughout was simply brilliant.

The initial welcome and reception experience was very smooth with elegant members of the hospitality team, providing a seamless transition to the highly anticipated bedrooms.

What we found were the highest levels of comfort, very spacious and elegantly designed bedrooms with every amenity considered and provided.

The bed and the pillows were incredibly comfortable and the lighting, sound and various ultramodern gadgets definitely serve to enhance the experience. Pure silence, perfect temperature, beautifully turned down - all made for 3 nights of blissful sleep.

The public spaces within the hotel can only be described as stunning. The work that has been undertaken in converting this remarkably significant building into a hotel whilst retaining its original characteristics of the Old War Office is simply breathtaking.

Whilst the hotel was very new and not 100% fully open the standards of service and food were remarkably polished for somewhere relatively newly opened.

Saison, the restaurant used for breakfast as well as other aspects of dining during the day was a gorgeous room, full of light and a delightful place to eat.

The various bars and lounges are all sumptuously decorated, classical lines interspersed with flashes of colourful modern art providing much to admire.

The spy bar offered something very unique and the site of a DB9 upon a wall above the bar will be forever remembered.

Due to previous experiences within luxury hotels within London, I entered the spa with a little bit of apprehension. However I had no need as the spa is beautifully appointed, lots of space and amenities.

The process of checking out was as seamless as the one checkin in. The concierge and all the members of staff could not have done more to have enhanced our stay.

The fact that the hotel is new and when we stayed only getting going, I can only imagine what experiences the OWO has in store for future guests, and I, for one cannot wait to return.

Of course, we knew that afternoon tea at the OWO would be expensive and that eating and drinking at this fine historic location attracts premium pricing. However, we did not expect to pay £22 for only about a third of a glass of champagne. Literally, a bit mean spirited and certainly unexpected from such a distinguished brand.

The Raffles OWO is nothing short of magnificent. Breathtaking surroundings and attention to detail go without saying, but the ambiance of quiet, understated elegance speaks of London, and the Raffles brand, at its finest. Entering the Old War Office building is a moment of experiencing London at its grandest, and walking the corridors paced by Churchill during the Second World War was spine tingling. The rooms are appointed in the standard of luxury which one would expect from the Raffles, with the crispest white bedlinen and the softest, deepest towels imaginable. It's worth finding time to sample a London Sling in the Guards bar, a nod to the Raffles signature Singapore Sling, whilst creating a unique "Best of British" blend of Gin and London flavours. My husband was frequently to be found in the Spy Bar enjoying the signature Vespa Martini, homage to Ian Fleming and the secret service agents in their underground lair. Similarly, below ground, is a world class spa, gym and extensive pool complex, which has to be seen to be believed. The steam room and jacuzzi are first class and to be enjoyed, relaxing after a busy day in the city.
The whole experience is pulled together by Patrick Fisher, who oversees all operations personally to ensure the slick and seamless operation for which the Raffles brand is known. Nothing escapes his attention. Special mentions are also in order for Dean in the concierge who organised last minute tickets to see the last night of Grease the musical, and Sophie, the charming and energetic breakfast waitress whose smile lights up your morning.
For an unforgettable stay in London and to experience a slice of history like no other, there really is nowhere like the Raffles OWO.

Raffles at the OWO was recommended by a friend for a quintessential London experience on a one night layover between Spain and the US. First… the common areas of this hotel are a spectacular mix of historical elegance and over the top British hospitality (in a good way). 12 restaurants and bars for a 120 room hotel does eat away at the usual common area experience that one would expect at a $1000+ per night establishment. The rooms are luxuriously appointed but ultimately, the fact that the hotel was unable to alter the building’s structure due to it’s heritage status is quite unfortunate- leaving most of the rooms with nearly no view despite the hotel’s iconic location. Ultimately, the wonderful service and history of the building couldn’t overtake the disappointment we felt in spending that much money and staring at a brick wall outside our window.

I’ve stayed at this glorious sumptuous hotel a couple of times and it’s been exceptional each time .

The work and expertise that goes into a world class hotel to provide guests with a seamless experience on a daily basis is stratospheric and Raffles of London certainly deliver .

The price point of course is on the higher side but for my money , genuinely worth every cent .

The meticulous nature of the recently unveiled 8 year long renovation is obvious everywhere .

Every detail in this hotel is covered …..the large bedrooms are totally peaceful and double glazed , there’s heated bathroom floors , gorgeous and comfortable soft furnishings, a delicious subtle scent in the air , various settings of mood lighting , wonderful beds, deep carpets, fluffy doonas , an array of luxurious pillows and the smoothest of sheets . This thoughtfulness and standard of excellence underpins the entire hotel .

The multiple reception rooms are equally well appointed , again every detail seems to have been thought of . Each room pays testimony to an old world charm yet imbued with current day technologies of course .

There’s a fabulous well equipped spacious gym, a humongous subterranean heated pool and spa with multiple jet options , quiet relaxing music and little alcoves of attentively serviced comfortable lounges dotted around .
A sauna , steam room , huge bathrooms detailed with every amenity necessary for post work out or post lazing pampering .

I ran out of time to indulge in the guerlain offerings at the day spa but heard from other guests that it was exceptional.

There are 6 dining options at the hotel , all of them having a high standard of excellence and sheer yumminess .

Threaded throughout Raffles is the warmth of the staff , undoubtedly they try hard to offer each and every guest a special experience (which must be a little tiring at times ) but they carry it off with aplomb . Each and every staff member that assisted me ( and there were many ! ) was genuinely friendly yet professional , it’s a difficult balance to achieve.
They’re attentive yet unobtrusive , again a difficult balance to achieve .
A shout out to the wonderful Olivia and Phoebe in Pillar , who made my daily breakfasts a joyful experience.

There are many luxury hotels to choose from in London and personally this is the pick of the bunch. It’s very British , thankfully not in the least ostentatious ( or pretentious) .

Thank you to the incredibly hard working staff and visionaries of this superb hotel, an immersive experience and London at its best .

The hotel is beautiful and very well located for a lovely stay in London. I was particularly impressed by the thoughtfulness and hospitality of the hotel staff, most notably the concierge staff who did a great job organizing Taxis through rainy days. There was a small misunderstanding about cleaning my room on the last night which was met with the right attitude from the management (although later a cleaning sponge was forgotten on the bedroom floor). An overall great stay. I will be returning with family. Highly recommended.

Hotel is beautiful! Love the hotel history, grand staircase and gorgeous giant chandelier. Our stay would have been perfect except for three things. Upon check-in we requested a room with a view, but was told no rooms were available in our category and if we wanted a view it would be at an increased rate. This hotel is extremely expensive per night so expected better customer service. We were extremely disappointed as we were there to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The view from our window was a wall with faux plants. I regret upon check-in not asking to see the manager, but we were not thinking straight as we were exhausted from a long flight. The hotel seemed quite empty during our stay and we literally only saw two guests in the big hallways leading to guest rooms during our entire stay so I was surprised to hear no view rooms were available in our category. I can already guess the response I might get back from this review and unfortunately it's too late, our stay is over.
Once we got into our room we loved it and it was spotless! I am very picky about cleanliness so I was very happy and grateful for the spotless and lovely room! A bottle of champagne was in our room with a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary. We don't drink, but we appreciated the thoughtfulness.
The second disappointment was our shower door leaked a lot of water onto bathroom floor! First night I used extra towels to mop up the floor. Imagine paying over $1,000 a night to have a leaky shower door! Next morning housekeeping offered to send someone to fix leak problem, but we didn't want to deal with workers in and out of our room as we were exhausted so we dealt with it. Third issue was at 2AM when we were woken up by a loud blast of air onto our faces like a hurricane! My husband startled, jumped out of bed to try to fix it, but no luck so he just turned it off and the room got warm and uncomfortable. The next morning he reset it and all was fine for the last few days of our stay.
I have mixed feeling about our stay. We would of loved our room except for the view and shower leak! Housekeeping staff were wonderful with excellent customer service! All staff we encountered at restaurants were great! Reception staff were friendly and professional, but again I think we were not given excellent customer service regarding our room and the view. I would love to return to OWO, Raffles , but hesitate for this reason.

We have just enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in the Drawing Room to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Both the traditional and vegan sandwiches were outstanding (avocado and chicken sandwiches were my favourites) and the tea timers were a lovely unique detail that made the afternoon tea experience stand out. The Drawing Room is an intimate and cozy wood panelled room with views of historic Whitehall. The staff were both charming and attentive, particularly Felicia who looked after us throughout our tea with character, humour and top tips. All the staff were helpful, chatting about the beautiful Grade ll* listed building, and made me feel at home wherever I was. Thank you to all for welcoming us so warmly and giving us an afternoon of indulgent luxury.

Beautiful hotel, room was very nice, we only had the basic room but very well appointed.
However mostly everything is done via an iPad in the room, in the morning we woke up and wanted to watch tv in bed , you have to use iPad which said it was disconnected, we couldn’t get it to work, so this is a bit annoying
Breakfast was I felt disappointing, we had the full English , I couldn’t eat the sausage as it was a very strong flavour, apparently their own recipe! Also streaky bacon cooked to a crisp , you can’t eat it with a knife and fork! Eggs and mushrooms were good though , I so wanted to give this hotel 5 stars but gave a 4 as it wasn’t perfect
We ate dinner in La Saison I will review this separately
Spy bar was excellent both service and cocktails
