We stayed near Christmas and were very pleased with our cosy room. Very clean, comfy bed and warm.. even during the freezing spell in London. Staff were great, very helpful with recommendations where to eat locally and allowed us to leave our bags early and after checking out, which was a massive help. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

The location is excellent- very close to Kings Cross - St Pancreas and within walking distance of many attractions. The room was small (the ensuite took up a significant space in what would have been a medium - sized room. There is also no lift and stairs are quite tight. This accommodation is best suited to a brief stay (we had two nights) as the room and facilities are basic. Breakfast is not a full breakfast but Jason, who runs the dining room is a delight. He is cheerful, welcoming and efficient. I have stayed in quite a number of B&Bs in London and have never previously experienced such cheerful service.
We had a slight concern with a musty smell in the room, especially the bathroom which was the only notable negative.
This property represents reasonable value and, in my experience, is priced below many in the area.

The hotel is extremely conveniently located only a few hundred feet from Kings Cross Station. Once across Euston Road, which is very busy even with a dedicated pedestrian crossing, it was an easy walk even with 2 large roller bags, a garment bag and 2 kids. We stayed for 4 nights on the top floor in a family room (2 single and 1 queen bed) which was sufficient if your goal is to have a base from which to explore London and not to hang out at the hotel. The check in process was easy even at 10 PM and the hotel staff were very friendly. The only issue was that the stairs leading to the top rooms are extremely narrow especially if you have large bags. However the hotel staff were very helpful in assisting us in getting situated. I probably would not have got the bags up the stairs on my own.

The bathroom was private and recently renovated with a new shower that had plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure. Overall the room was quiet, clean and serviced every day. Towels were switched out on day 2 but we probably could have used a few extra. Shampoo and body body wash was provided from a dispenser that ran out on our last day. The room was air conditioned which was nice given the unseasonably warm weather.

A kettle, milk pods, tea and instant coffee was provided and replenished every day. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to provide a small refrigerator for storing beverages and water. One of the outlets was comparable to US electrical plugs which was a bonus. For meals on the go there is a Burger King, McDonalds and Starbucks within a 3 minute walk.

Overall, if you are looking for a cost-effective convenient, clean and comfortable hotel to be a base for a London family adventure, I highly recommend the Jesmond Dene, but if you have large bags, you may wish to request a lower floor.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. For the price, and the location, and it being London, this room was completely fine! Located in a series of row homes, this particular room was clean, simple, very small, with two twin beds, a clothing rack with 4 hangars, small table and mirror/chair, flat screen TV, 2nd floor (note that in Europe, 1st floor is not ground floor). Bags fit opened under the beds. Bathroom and shower very nice, with heated towel rack. Beds comfortable. Spectacular location to Kings Cross/St Pancras! Requested 2nd pillow and more towels, promptly provided. Shower drained slowly but was repaired after notifying front desk.

Cons: Thin walls, so when other guests arrived while we were sleeping their banter woke us up. We were by a stairwell but it was closed for reno, not sure if there would have been audible from there.

Would definitely book again!

We have just stayed for two nights at the Jesmond Dene.
It’s great little hotel and is very convenient for mainline stations (we walked from Euston) and two minutes from the tube at Kings Cross St Pancras.
We had a basic room which was clean and had ample storage plus tea/coffee facilities, TV, hand basin, toiletries and towels. We shared a bathroom which was spotless at all times. En-suite rooms also available.
Breakfast was continental with bottomless hot drinks and toast, cereal and yoghurt. Non dairy milk was readily brought on request.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Check in is 3pm and out at 11am but you can leave your bags at the hotel securely before and after these times.
Glad we stayed here and will definitely return.

We wanted a hotel near to Kings Cross so as to avoid getting the tube with children and luggage after we arrived by train. The Jesmond Dene was just what we needed - a clean and functional room that allowed us to leave our luggage before/after check in/out. The member of staff/owner also proactively asked us if we needed to use a bathroom when we dropped off our luggage on arrival which i felt was a nice touch.

Very friendly staff and room/luggage felt secure.

Hardly spent any time in the room but it was just what we needed and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

This property, a short walk from kings cross and St Pancras is perfect for a one night stay if you're catching an early train. Plenty of places to walk to for food, shopping etc. There are different levels of rooms here and we chose a triple as we needed two beds and this was the only option. I will warn you it is SMALL, but had everything we needed. Did I mention it was small? If we were staying multiple nights it would have presented a problem, but we had just taken a 10 hour international flight, a long tube ride, and just needed a clean and quiet place to sleep. If this is your need for lodging, you should be happy here. Service was friendly, and the key situation was well explained and we were walked to our room. If you have an early train, make sure you have express checkout as reception will not be staffed very early in the morning.

I really liked this place! Ground floor room, I’ll get your own street door to enter and exit by and it’s one minute from Kings’ Cross on a street that’s not too shady at all considering the station is so close. Special shout out to the lovely shower and it’s got some really nice gel shampoo and conditioner too :) The guys on reception were so helpful and kind on the phone when I had card issues and I’d stay again in a heartbeat. See you soon!

My son (8 years old) and I stayed here last week as it was the perfect location for the eurostar. The staff were friendly enough however our room had no hot water or air conditioning and it was uncomfortably warm. After speaking to reception I was told that air con was an extra £25 and that I would need to use the basement communal bathroom - we were staying 6 floors above.

Response from Darren A, Owner at The Jesmond Dene - St Pancras Hotel Group
Responded 07 Sept 2022
Dear Julie, I am very sorry to read that you experienced some problems during your stay. However it transpires that you were using the cold outlet instead of the hot outlet that morning. Normally Red is Hot and Blue is Cold. This is evident as the bathroom which you were directed to had no problems. This is part of the same plumbing system so it would have been impossible to run out of hot water. With over 1000L of hot water on tap 24 hours a day, delivering 50L at 5am would not have been a problem! In regard to your AC request, you booked directly with the hotels website therefore you would have been aware that the AC is not a part of the price. The extra was available during the booking process, but as you didn’t pay for it , you were charged at reception accordingly. This is normal for all reservations, but you may have forgotten while booking. I would also like to add that the property only has 5 floors, so your point about going down 6 floors is also incorrect. As readers will appreciate it can sometimes be difficult to please all customers, but I am afraid the contents of this review are simply incorrect, and we do not feel this adds any value to this forum or the readers using it. Regards Management

I stayed here for one night in order to be close to St Pancras to catch an early Eurostar. I paid £150 for a room for three and I'd say £130 of that was for the convenience of the location; the room was barely worth 20 quid (all three stars above are for the location).

The floorboards in the room above us creaked, there was a foul smell emerging from the bathroom and at least one of the mattresses made a loud noise with every movement. You can also hear the rumble of trains until very late at night.

If you need the location for an early train then you can't get much better, but keep your expectations for the room extremely low. Then lower them more.
