My partner and I chose Blades hotel in Pimlico because of good reviews and a great location for meetings I had the next day.

They certainly made an excellent impression. They contacted us to ask about our arrival time, I explained we would be arriving from abroad very early and asked if they could store our bags and if possible check us in early.

When we arrived the room was ready (it was 11am and the hotel was quiet that day so no guests had been in the room the night before) so they let us check in then and there, it was a huge relief as we were both jet lagged and carrying heavy baggage.

The next morning their continental breakfast was very good. Proper fresh coffee, a range of Kellogs cereal, juice, meats and cheese, several types of bread, it was very good for the price.

When we checked out they were more than happy to look after our suitcases throughout the day, allowing us to go about our meetings without having to take suitcases about.

When we picked the suitcases up later we had a lovely chat with the proprietor, if we find ourselves in the Pimlico area overnight again i would look no further than the Blades hotel.

Though if you need luggage stored or an early check in as we had I strongly suggest you ask first as storage space may be limited and early check-in only possible if the room was either vacant or already cleaned.

Highly recommended

We stayed 4 nights and 5 days with my husband , they upgraded us to the front with terrace , room is very clean and tidy. The staffs are extremely helpful, very nice and friendly. The room is small but very comfortable The Hotel is very close to the UNDERGROUND, Victoria line (PIMLICO Station) just 3 minutes walk from the Hotel. Breakfast included which is perfectly to start the day. We loved our stay and definitely would recommend to our friends and family.

We booked two rooms for 5 people for 3 days. The positives were that the rooms were clean and the location was good. However, we there were a number of disappointments. There is no elevator and no one to up lug the luggage up 5 flights of narrow stairs. In the room, there is no A/C, bottled water, refrigerator nor ice. The bathroom sink was miniscule, in the corner with two spigots for separate hot and cold water. The soap provided was tiny and the towels thin. The hotel is old and needs lots of TLC. Breakfast was also basic. We would not book here again.

Well travelled people are usually impressed with what we have to offer in this very expensive area of London where we share the postcode with the Queen and the Prime Minister. Westminster Council do not permit us to install an elevator or change the building in any way as it is a preserved Listed Building of Historical Value. Most wash basins in England have 2 taps - one for hot water and one for cold - this is quite normal here. No economy budget hotel in Westminster would have air con, bottled water, refrigerator or ice - and probably 4 star hotels would not provide this either or you would need to pay extra for each item. Breakfast is complimentary - free of charge.

This hotel was booked and it was only after booking I was informed it was not suitable for someone with mobility issues. The owner was quite dismissive when I spoke with her about this and said I should book elsewhere however, this was not an option as I had booked a non-cancellable room without realising this. On arrival the staff were friendly and I had been moved to a lower floor however this still caused me issues. The staff stood and watched me struggle upstairs with my case.
The breakfast was ample, it included a variety of teas, cereals fruit, bread, cold meat and cheese.
The room initially appeared clean but there was a large patch of damp on the ceiling, there was mold in the window which no attempt had been made to clean it (this would not be good for anyone with asthma) the curtains were ripped and the radiator looked like it had never been cleaned and was full of dust, again no good for anyone with allergies. (see images). The sheets were clean but the bedspread had blood stains on it and the pillows were awful and need replacing. The room I stayed in would benefit from a thorough deep clean.
When I phoned the hotel I was also advised I could leave my bag there on the day of checking out however when I asked on the day I was told I had been given the wrong information and it would not be possible.
There was a sign stating the hotel was being updated but I saw no evidence of this. The owner has stated in previous replies that it is reasonably priced for the area but after booking, I saw a four star hotel locally advertised for £60 less including breakfast.
I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again.

This guest contacted us before arrival and was quite arrogant in their demands and I had to say that I would need to take legal advice re their demands - then they changed their attitude. We asked them to book elsewhere as we do not have a lift, but they refused. There was no damp on the ceiling and no mould on the window and definitely no blood on the bedspread - if there had been they would "certainly" have complained. There certainly was no 4 star hotel for £60 less anywhere locally - we were relieved when they left as they had no manners were offhand and rude to the staff.

I booked this hotel through hotels.com and cancelled within the allowed cancellation period. Despite many attempts by both myself and hotels.com to contact the hotel I still have received any contact back and have not received my £89. The hotel is still taking payments therefore I am worried about other people losing money.

We picked the Blades Hotel because we had a very early Gatwick Xpress train to catch and the Blades is onlt a 10-15 minute walk to Victoria Station. We were very happy with our choice. The block is full of identical houses built around the 1840s for middle class residents (I googled), and I loved the look of the block and the period decor on the interior- adored all the prints of racehorses. The room was small, but adequate. A little warm (June), but the fan provided did a great job moving the air around; we slept comfortably. The beds are excellent. Bathroom hot water was plentiful and water pressure great. We were on an upper floor, and I didn't mind lugging the suitcases up the stairs because it was sooooo quiet. The staff were absolutely lovely; helpful, informative, and definitely went above and beyond. It took a few tries to get logged on to WiFi, but once we were on, the signal was fine and the internet was fast.

It's really well located; Victoria Station is a good home base to return to, and it's also within a mile or so of lots of attractions so walking is an option, too. On our walk from the station to check in, we passed a very cute area with food stalls, and it's also near some theaters.

I liked the feel of the place; it's fun staying in a building that's almost 200 years old. It's a good price for what you get and I would absolutely stay there again.

Room Tip: The block itself is very quiet, so I think a room on any floor is fine.

Great reasonably priced hotel: room was small but clean and cosy, as was the attached ensuite. Staff (sorry don't know names!) were charming, attentive and helpful. Breakfast was fine (I eat low carb, so had ham and cheese!). Everything one could hope for. Heating could be adjusted, which was great. Plenty of hot water. Suggestions: keep a carafe of water in the room (not sure how you could fill the kettle otherwise?) and have refillable (attached?) containers of shower gel and shampoo. (But these are minor improvements...)

The room we were in at front ground floor sleeps up to 5; a double bed and 3 singles (this isn't fully clear when booking via t'internet. Your bathroom is not actually 'adjacent' to the room but requires a ~10 metre scuttle with a key, in your grundies, down the hotel corridor if you need it in the night. As adults staying one night this was ok. Road in front a little noisy so needed to shut window = warm night, Breakfast was full when we arrived and required a 5-10 minute wait for a table to be freed up. It is basic - Kellogs mini cereals, toast, yoghurts etc.; the coffee was really, really strong. Friendly staff.

The staff is super friendly and they help you with everything they can. They even give you suggestions on what to do or where to dine and have some fun times.

The rooms where not very big but had everything that you need.

Breakfast is included, and the place is very central and you can walk to some touristic areas like the Buckingham Palace. Victoria st is only 5 min walk away and oxford circus 4 stops by tube away.

Totally recommend it.

What a lovely hotel and owner, we came in worse the wear on the Sunday morning and the owner let us check in early as there was a empty room for us and let us have a cup of tea that morning too which was much needed.
The hotel is quiet and even if the flush in lo can be loud there was nothing that would keep you awake.
Breakfast was nice basic stuff, cereal, toast, meats.

Beds were comfy and soft bathroom was a bit of a squeeze but no issues with it overwise.
