This is such an awesome place! It's right in the centre of London. So close to everything! You walk straight out into the lively London life. We stayed with a young kid and he was fine with the the central location. The double glazing keeps street noise out and it queitens down later anyway. Very affordable. The room is clean and the beds are very comfy. There is a fridge / freezer and microwave! Highly recommend. I will definitely be coming back. This is a little hidden gem which with everything you need.

Plus - look at that for a view! It's only the London Eye!

I feel bad writing a negative review, as I have stayed at the Seven Dials Hotel before and always found it, and its staff, to be brilliant. I booked this knowing it was a short distance from the hotel and had accounted for checking in at the hotel and then walking down to New Row, so didnt find this too much of a problem. Its a shame they dont have a key safe or something similar so you dont have to go back to drop off the keys at check out but even this didnt really bother me too much.

What did sort of set alarm bells off in my head was when the receptionist handed me a bunch of keys and reminded me 3 times that I must lock all of the doors behind me, including my room door, and never to leave any door unlocked. This felt like an oddly full on amount of security and the multiple different keys seemed like overkill.

I walked down to no.15 - its easy enough to find but I wasn't warned at any point that the property shares an entrance with a vape shop. This feels a little uncomfortable as, almost the entire visit, the shop had at least 3 men standing around chatting, who would stop talking and watch you enter or leave the building. They weren't threatening or rude, it just felt weird and, as a solo female traveler, a bit uncomfortable. Add to that the multiple keys which you need to unlock and re-lock a door on every floor to get to the next, and the whole place just feels a little unsafe.

The surrounding area feels fine and I didn't feel at all uncomfortable walking back and forth to the theater in the evenings but the actual building felt a bit dodgy. It was also a bit weird having to move the vape shops post, including Amazon parcels, out of the way so I could open the front door to go out in the mornings. I left them to one side, assuming that would be a reasonable place for them to be easily found, but it was just weird.

The room is beyond basic. You get one, wafer thin, pillow per person and sheets which are not at all thick enough for a room with no proper heating. I hadn't been ready for this, as the Seven Dials Hotel rooms have radiators, but there is just an air con style unit on the wall (up so high you have to stand on the bed to reach it) and it isn't anywhere near powerful enough to heat the room. I ended up laying my coat over the top of the bed sheets to add an extra layer and it was still painfully cold.

There is an odd selection of amenities. They provide a kettle, but the sink in the bathroom is too small to fill it directly, so you have to fill a cup and decant cold water into the kettle to make a cup of tea. They provide a microwave and plates, but no cutlery so you'd need to make sure anything you cooked in there could be eaten with your hands or with the tea spoon they give you for hot drinks. There is a fridge, which was unplugged when I arrived. Having switched it on, I understood why as it made the most awful noise so you had the choice of turning it off overnight, letting anything you have in there spoil, or trying to sleep whilst it buzzes away. Judging by the smell inside it, I am guessing that most of the guests who stayed before me decided to turn it off and let their food go bad.

The walls are incredibly thin. You can hear everyone coming and going and if there is someone in the room next door you can hear them moving around and lets just say you will know if they are in the bathroom.

Speaking of the bathroom, it was clean but the taps appear to have been put on the wrong way around so, after waiting for ages and thinking there was no hot water, I ended up finding out it was just labelled wrong. If you do stay here, watch out for the bathroom doors, they are weighted so they close on their own so if you just step in quickly to put something in the bid or fill the kettle, don't rest your hand on the door frame - it hurts like crazy when your fingers get smashed by the door slamming shut.

I was also not ready for all the stairs. It wasn't mentioned at booking that there are so many stairs - do not book here if you have any access or mobility needs whatsoever.

Really, although they don't use the word, this place is closer to a hostel than a hotel or even an airbnb. The location is what will keep people booking it and but it really was a miserable stay and I was glad to leave.
