We stayed in a superior king, which was a spacious room, excellent bedding, air conditioning, free nespresso and snacks in the mini bar. We got a substantial discount for staying 3+ nights. 5th floor room overlooked roof of train station, which was perfect for us, as it was nice and quiet. The location is unbeatable. The hotel celebrated it’s 157th birthday, while we were there, so a good deal of history to the place, which we like. It’s 5-10 minutes walking time to trafalgar square, many theaters, a zillion restaurants, the London eye, parliament, chinatown, soho and so on. Charing cross tube station is next door. Staff was lovely. The restaurant is beautiful. We ate there three times. Would very gladly stay there again.
The 3 of us stayed at the Clermont for 3 days and were very satisfied with our stay. We had a rather spacious room with a king size bed and a double sofa bed. We were within a few minutes from Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. Many theaters and great restaurants were nearby. The staff aimed to please. Our room was refreshed each day as was the complimentary mini bar which had Peroni, wine, water and coke. We would stay here again.
Booked this hotel as it had such good reviews, but we were really disappointed. The rooms was very tiered and not particularly clean. Air conditioning not working, we were given a fan, which didn’t really help. There was a LOT of noise. Breakfast was very average. The bed was comfy. Wouldn’t stay again. Disappointed
I was gifted a meal with fizz for 2 at the Clermont. Beautiful elegant hotel, with welcoming staff. We made our way to the restaurant and after a little confusion, we were seated for a 3 course meal with fizz. The fizz (Prosecco) and 2 glasses of water appeared firstly, and we were given a set menu of choices, much reduced from the all day menu, but that is the usual with these things. We both entertain a lot, and I cook, so we do have a good palate and critical eye when eating out, and don't attempt it lightly. There were 3 choices for starter and dessert and 5 for main. We were expected to make all of our choices from the onset, most unusual, but I suppose that's because we were the "bargain diners". The fishcake (supposedly on a bed of spinach) arrived, on a bed of mushy peas, snd we were left to enjoy. We would have expected a poached egg with a runny yolk cascading over a light and lightly cooked fishcake. What we received was a hard egg on a crunchy and underseasoned fishcake which all looked nice but didn't deliver. Style over substance. For mains we chose the burger, and fish and chips, as we didn't want a veggie cauliflower dish, salad with and egg, or the other choice (not even memorable). The burger was tasty enough, but I have made better. Too many chips on the plate. A few onions rings finished off the dish. My wife had the fish and chips, rather greasy as the plate demonstrated, with again, too many chips and more mushy peas. Chef must have ordered a job lot. Dessert choices were blackcurrant cheese cake, Eton mess or icecream/sorbet. I chose the Eton mess. This is something a small child could achieve on a bad day, but clearly chef decided the Eton mess had a few tiny bits of meringue in the bottom of a sundae dish, with a dollop of slightly over whipped cream on top, covered in a strawberry coulis (bottled perhaps) and a quarter of a small strawberry. Not exactly a master chef winner. My wife had 3 scoops of icecream that were good. Perhaps because someone was fairly good with a scoop. This is a great gift to buy for someone who has never created a meal from ingredients in their own kitchen, or lives on take aways. I was not impressed, given that this was paid for from someone's hard earned money. I'll swap for a different experience if ever received again.…
As part of Odyssey Tours Just spent 4 nights in a Deluxe suite, Excellent experience. Very spacious room, large bath. King sized bed was very comfortable, sofa bed badly needs a mattress upgrade. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The group dinner was also excellent. Centrally located to the theater district and Trafalgar Square I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. Friday May 13, a gentleman helped us with the electric (i have lost his card) he was terrific All told we very very highly reccommend the Clermont and her staff!!!
