We booked this hotel as part of a trip to London to celebrate my wife’s “significant” birthday, see some shows and generally enjoy London for a few days. Firstly the hotel is in a great location off the main road and literally 5 minutes walk to the tube. This is a boutique hotel, small but perfectly formed, well designed rooms very well decorated. We had asked for a balcony room if possible when we booked and sure enough we had room 14, the room had a happy birthday banner, card signed by the staff and a cake! These things are easy to do but say so much about the staff and “feel” of the hotel and we’re very much appreciated. The room itself has a brilliant “starry night” colour changing led ceiling, as well as mood lighting and all facilities you would expect, albeit in a small en-suite room. Breakfast is continental, fresh and plentiful with good service in the orangery at the back. This is a really great boutique hotel, ideally situated for the tube and therefore access to London. Make no mistake this hotel is a real gem.

This was my second stay at HH in a few months. The location is great, 2 minutes walk from Earl's Court tube station, which takes you directly to Heathrow. The neighborhood feels safe to walk around, there are many restaurants of all types, a M&S food store, Boots pharmacy just across Earl's Court street.
The hotel itself has a sweet charming atmosphere. Both times, the single room was literally tiny (about 2 meters wide). I don't mind the small size myself. Keep in mind though that the beds -at least in single rooms, that is- are a bit short and they are tucked under the window so you cannot let you feet hanging. I am 1,69m tall and I would just fit, but any taller person will have a hard time sleeping with their legs fully stretched.
Despite the small size, the rooms are fully equipped and sparkling clean. USB charging ports are installed above the desk and there is also an adaptor available in the room (hanging behind the door). The WiFi was not working well the first couple of days, but it was fixed.
Towels and bed sheets are of excellent quality. Toiletries include shampoo, shower gel and shower cap. The bathroom is small, but very clean and modern.
The buffet breakfast is included in the price, which is a big plus for me. It is served in a lovely sunroom and it offers a reasonable selection.
Overall, the only two minus points are the low water pressure in the shower and the poor sound insulation; but honestly I have found the latter in most small hotels all around Europe.
Even though it is a small hotel, it does not look or feel run down or deteriorating, as is the case in others of its kind. The reasonable rates for London standards make it a great value for money choice.
I am looking forward to staying at Henley House again!

I stayed here on a solo trip in early March 2023, booking a double room for 2 nights.

Overall, I had a very good experience. The hotel is located in Barkston Gardens, so is convenient for Earls Court tube station and various pubs/restaurants, but away from the main strip - as a result, it is pretty quiet.

My room was reasonably sized for a single person and had a nice balcony at the front which you could sit out on if you wished (note: only a few rooms have this). The bathroom was pretty tiny - not an issue for myself, but would definitely be a squeeze for two people. There was no bath, but a walk in shower, which was fine, albeit a little under powered.

The design of the room had a definite “boutique” feel, with mood lighting and British themed decor. There was air conditioning, a fridge, personal safe and small wardrobe. There was a generously sized large screen TV with the standard variety of freesat channels, although for some reason a couple of channels didn’t have sound. There were also options to connect a laptop to the TV via your own (or borrowed from the hotel) HDMI cables, although I never tested these. Similarly, there were numerous plugs and USB power connectors for various devices.

Most importantly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

A free continental style breakfast was included in the price and was served at the back of the hotel in a pleasant conservatory style room.

The hotel felt very secure. Access was via a room key card to the front door and there always seemed to be a person at the desk during the hours specified. I was informed staff lived on premises if there were any issues during the night. Rooms were accessed via the same key card and there was even a door alarm which sounded if it wasn’t closed properly. Bags could be left after check out and collected within the specific reception times.

The area around Earls Court can be a mixed bag for accommodation - with some fairly dubious properties amongst higher end/chain hotels, however this definitely wasn’t one of them.

For the individual traveller at least, this was a really good hotel and definite value for money.

After comparing many hotels for a 2 night trip to London, I picked this hotel on price, location and previous reviews. The hotel has been modernised to a high standard and although my single room was towards the small size compared to single rooms in London, it was cleverly designed to have all the features required, including a fridge and air conditioning to make a short stay for one person comfortable. Breakfast was limited due to Covid but toast, croissants, eggs, tea/coffee and cereals were served. Above all the hotel was spotlessly clean. Short walk to the main street shops, pubs and the Earls Court tube. Would certainly consider this hotel for a future trip.

We were surprised by the size of the room and the modern decor. The breakfast which as included was excellent with a wide range of items both hot and cold. Reception was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast staff would do anything to help.
The location near to Earl's Court station gives excellent access to the tube and broader rail system. I recommend a pass to make movement easier.
The area has several great pubs and places to eat.
We had been in London on previous occasions and found accomodation was off a poor standard and expensive.
This hotel breaks that situation and we were impressed and plan to return to London in 2023 and will stay here again

I took a chance on this bed-and-breakfast instead of a chain hotel. It is a charming building with a lot of nice touches. I was put in a single deluxe room which is what I chose from the website but unfortunately nearby guests keep slamming their doors and speaking on the phone with the speakerphone on during all hours of the night. I brought this to the attention of Roberta at reception who immediately put me in another room. Much appreciated. Daily breakfast is included - just Continental, with bread jam eggs fruit and coffee…very satisfying.

I was alone and spent a couple nights at this hotel. The location is perfect. Lots of shops/restaurants on Earls Ct Rd and the tube station is 2 mins away. Roberto the manager was very friendly and let me check-in early.

Was there during the heatwave and the air-con was a blessing. Lots of TV channels to watch at night. Spent my days shopping and running errands. Would pick up dinner at M&S Foods 2 mins away and would crash watching TV.

Loved the modern room and toilet. Was a nice surprise. You just assume a hotel in a Victorian building maybe dated. But the owners have taken great care to refurbish it and provide all the facilities that are so common in new hotel.

Will be back for sure!

I stayed at Henley House for x1 night whilst attending a conference. The hotel is just off the high street - so has a nice mix of not being too noisy whilst having access to local tube, shops and several bars. The hotel itself is fairly modern – with spacious rooms overlooking a rather picturesque street.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast service was very good. A nicely priced hotel for individuals travelling on business or those looking for a base to explore London further.

Great location for transport link (tube) and museums including V&A , National History and the Science Museum. Very friendly staff who go out of their way to assist and room cleaned spotlessly. Continental breakfast is very good and the area it is served in again spotless. On a personal point the mattress on the double bed was very firm and on a negative we had loud neighbours on the last night of our stay and we could hear every word of their conversation. For the cost and with breakfast included I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Henley House for a couple of nights. Fantastic Room, fantastic service, lovely area and even breakfast was way above expectations.

Minor quibbles are, not enough power points (common problem in hotel rooms) and the only USB charging point was broken, but all other aspects so exceeded expectations, that Henley House still deserves full marks.

Do the elevators require room key card to operate. Are their stairs?
Answer from Ayub Bunpire
Singapore, Singapore11 contributions8 helpful votes
Elevators do not require room key card and it is near the dining area. The hotel front door require room key card but if you forget you can always sound the doorbell or knock on the door for the reception to let you enter. There are stairs if you do not want to use the elevator. Even with the elevator, certain rooms need to climb stairs for entry. Take note that the elevator is not big; it has limits. It can only fit 2 person without luggage or 1 person with 1 luggage.

Great hotel, great location. Small rooms, but very well designed to maximize space. The hotel front desk staff are incredibly friendly so don't hesitate to chat with them directly.
Answer from vichelly83

Yes this is possible. I also arrived the hotel earlier than check in time. However I suggest that before arriving just drop them an email to let them know you will arrive early to leave luggage with them. This is important because I arrived earlier and there was no one at the reception for about 20 minutes. The main door was locked and I pressed the bell for many times. I think the staff was busy making up guest rooms and could not hear the door bell ringing. Hence I think is important to just correspond with them via email with your request before you arrive. Hope this helps!
