I had stayed at Le Meridien Piccadilly a couple of times before but a very long time ago. It is coping brilliantly with the various constraints resulting from the Pandemic. It was almost ideally situated for our first indoor live cabaret at Crazy Coqs being a sort way from the Hotel.

We arrived about 2pm and had been allocated a junior suite on the 7th Floor with stunning views. I dropped my wife and went off to park at the Q Park in Leicester Square. The welcome by the Staff was excellent and they could not have been more helpful or attentive.

When I got back from parking we went to the Room which was well appointed as I would expect. We had some afternoon tea as the Lounge was - understandably - closed. There were few other guests to enjoy the excellent service which was a great shame. We felt safe and thought the additional measures were comprehensive but not unduly intrusive.

We went out to the Cabaret and returned late to our room. We took breakfast in the Terrace Restaurant where Raoul and our server looked after us very well. The whole Concierge Team and Front Desk Staff were first class. They looked after my wife while I collected the car.

Parking was a challenge as it often is nowadays as Construction Work was impacting access to the Car Park. But I managed a good deal with My Parking Space despite the problems.

Our breakfast and tea were delicious and nicely presented. Housekeeping is not permitted into the Room while guests are present. Room Service delivered our tea trolley to the door and we thought this was very sensible and thoughtful.

All in all an excellent stay despite the vicissitudes and well done and many thanks to all the Team who looked after us so well. It gives us confidence to visit again and we really appreciated all the precautions and safety measures they had in place.

The not so good:-
1)Lack of personable indulgence

Stayed at room 725 from 1st to 3rd Jan. Coming back here for the 4th time in Le Meridien, and being a silver elite member, I expected more warmth and abit of indulgence from the hotel.

The front desk had granted me checkout time at 2pm.Since I my flight was 930pm, I requested the front deskstaff who said I have to pay. i then wrote to the General Manager(pic attached) hoping for some personable intervention but instead I got a call to ask if I am willing to pay or reconfirm checkout at 2pm.

Eventually I did pay gb150 for 3 hours extension. When I asked for the housekeeping in the morning, was quite annoyed to be told on the day of checkout there shall be none. I did pay didnt I?! But eventually they did do up the room.

Running abit late, I tried getting 30 minutes extension but front desk said no.

2) Bidet Service

As there are more Asians staying in the hotel and bidet service is quite common nowadays,Management should seriously consider this.

The Good would be its excellent location, one of the best in central London.

I was taken here for a birthday treat and we were very disappointed with the room, despite being a Junior Suite it was close to being the most depressing room I’ve ever stayed in. It was dark and tired and we complained and were moved to another room, only slightly better, very disappointed.

The bathroom was tired and not sure why the bar of soap was replaced every day, seems a waste of money and bad for the environment.

The air conditioning was not great, I would hate to be in the room on a warm day, luckily we were there in March so we managed.

We had access to the Club Lounge which was nice and the staff attentive, a nice place to relax after a day out in London.

Breakfast was nice, very extensive but the food started being removed very soon after the end time so you need to be down for breakfast well before the cut off time.

The gym and pool area was quite good for a hotel.

The younger doorman was very good, the older one less so, more interested in gossiping with the staff.

Great location but that doesn’t compensate for the tired building, sadly we will not be returning.

Dear waldorf53, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Le Méridien Piccadilly. Our aim at our iconic property is to ensure all our guests have memorable experiences and exceptional service, however it is clear we have fallen short of our goal during your stay. I am thrilled to hear your kind comments about our Club Lounge, Health Club and our doorman. However, I am sorry to learn that some of the aspects did not meet your expectations. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with the rest of the senior management team here. We do appreciate your review as it is only by receiving such valuable feedback that we are better able to understand where we stand and what improvements we can make. The hotel team is fully committed to delivering an exceptional experience and are always looking for creative ways to exceed the expectations of our valued guests, such as yourself. At your convenience, feel free to share any additional feedback on how we can elevate your experience whenever your travels bring you back to London. I was in London and stayed at Le Meridien. The check in process was simple and quick, the room nice-the bathroom, though small, was great and I loved the towel warmer and shower products. However, the primary reason I will st ay at this hotel on every future trip to London is the concierge team. I was traveling for approximately 3 weeks and decided to ship my luggage home rather than fly with it. Due to misdirection by the shipping company, my luggage was shipped back to the hotel rather than to my home. I contacted the concierge who watched for my luggage to come back, removed items as discussed to correct the issue and resent my luggage, all with graciousness and kindness to someone who would likely not see them again any time soon. They were truly amazing and went above and beyond my expectations of client service. Aside from the amazing service, the location of Le Meridient is perfect-very near the subway, shopping and sightseeing and near great restaurants. I can't wait to go back!

My horrible experience with this property started at check in with Francesca. This was a work trip with 2 other colleagues. I was quickly reminded that I was "Only Gold Elite status" while my colleague was whisked away so he could conduct his check-in at the Diamond desk. I am by no means entitled to a room upgrade but I always like to ask. Francesca dismissed my simple request to take a look and I was told through pursed lips that my room is a nice one. When I got to my dark and dingy room the heater wasn't working. When I called the front desk to ask about the heater, I was rudely told that her colleague told her that I requested a room upgrade and my request wasn't possible and to wait for the heater because it takes a while for it to warm up. I sat in my room with my thick coat and stocking hat for an hour before I called back and asked for the heater to be looked at. A very kind maintenance man replaced something and finally my room heated up. I also pointed out the the towel heater wasn't working so he fixed that as well. This was a work trip and I was catering a private flight the following day and needed a little bit of refrigerator space. I was reluctant to ask the front desk but did was was told it was not possible. I was at a loss because this has never been an issue at any other Marriott property. I asked my "Diamond status" colleague to ask about refrigerator space and the response he got made us both roll our eyes and laugh! "Sure Mr. XXX, let us know when you are ready and we will come up to your room and pick up whatever you need refrigerated."
The only reason I gave this hotel any credit is for the great location but I won't ever stay here again and will share as much with friends, family and coworkers. I travel a lot for both business and pleasure and I have never been made to feel so bad during a hotel stay. Francesca and the other front desk workers gave me no incentive to want to grow and further my Marriott status. Think twice about staying at this property!

We went to the theatre for a birthday outing and stayed here because it was so conveniently nearby. We arrived in the afternoon and our room wasn’t quite ready but we were given a voucher for a free coffee and eclair which was lovely. Elena on reception went out of her way to sort out our room and when we got to it there was a bottle of Prosecco chocolates and a birthday card.

We had a meal which was very good before the theatre and went into the bar afterwards where magicians perform at the tables. Brilliant!

Breakfast the next day was a great selection. The additional things we ordered took a long time but they explained they had a problem with the gas supply. This was in the middle of a dreadful storm which might account for it.

Staff were all really friendly and extremely helpful.

Room a little small but that’s London! Prices were what you’d expect to pay staying right on Piccadilly. Will return for the Saturday magic show soon.

Myself and my wife stayed here for two nights. All staff we dealt with were both friendly and efficient. Our room was excellent with a very high standard finish and covid measures were in place throughout the hotel and were being adhered to with all staff wearing face masks and sanitisier available throughout the hotel. We used the pool one day which we prebooked and again Covid procedures were in place and the pool area, steam room etc were extremely clean. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but the range of food available was excellent and all hot food on display was freshly cooked and plentiful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Dilly for anoyone looking for a top class experience in a hotel right in the centre of everything.

Started off badly by being over charged when we got the hotel, although when i point ed this out the error they amended it, we booked a table for dinner, the kids had pizza which looked pretty basic, but the kids eat it without compliant, i had the surrey farm fillet steak which i was really looking forward to, until it came with nothing else but a half a Tomato and a handful of rocket which was disappointing.
we told at check in that breakfast started from 7, i have two young children so they're up early so we were down for 7, as the only 3 people at breakfast it took us 30mins to get the kids served a bowl of cereal, i had the "La carte" cooked breakfast which wasn't great, the only thing that was half decent about were the two sausages the rest, i could of got the same or better at a premier inn, i think the only thing la carte was then price, plus the cutlery was dirty, which you dont expect at 5star hotel.

the upside to the hotel is the room size and location, which was a good size and as sizeable bed which was clean and comfortable, the rooms are a little dated but not horrendous, like some of the reviews on here.

all in all, i was disappointed with the standards of hotel and wont be staying at the hotel again, when you book a "5 star" hotel and pay the high price, you expect a certain level of service, im not on about curtseying or bowing when we come in a room, but not to wait 30min for a bowl of cereal for the kids and set of clean cutlery has got to be a basic requirement?

If I were to sum up our experience of The Dilly in one word, it would be disappointing. We were only in London for a brief visit and chose The Dilly for its central location. We had arranged an early check in for 12 noon and this had been confirmed in advance by the hotel. We arrived even earlier and were told to return at 12. We did so and were advised that entry to the room was only guaranteed by 3 pm. Reception staff were rude and dismissive. We eventually got into the room at 1:30, having wasted some of our valuable time in London.

We had booked a spa treatment for my wife for 3.30 the following day. This had been confirmed in writing by the spa prior to our arrival. We returned to the hotel in good time and my wife waited 45 minutes and no one appeared in the ( rather basic) spa to give her the treatment. Staff questioned whether we actually had a reservation and the spa staff dismissed our complaint as simply bring one of those things that happens. Hotel staff disclaimed all responsibility for the spa, claiming that it was operated by external contractors. This is not acceptable as the spa services are advertised on the hotel website and it is located in the hotel. It is part of the so-called 5 star service offered by The Dilly and ultimate responsibility lies with hotel management. More of our time in London wasted.

Our room was not made up on the second day until 3.30 meaning that there were no clean towels or toilet paper until then. Reception staff ( still dismissive and rude) advised that priority was given to rooms which were receiving new guests, an apparent change in policy from the previous day,

The Dilly: disappointing.

The Dilly should only be rated a 3 star hotel. Within 30 mins of occupying our room other guests were being shown room, unclean items from previous guests left under bedroom chair, air conditioning was not working, only Re-circulating room air! The room (supposed to be a splendid one, with view!) No view other than part of the side building. Has not been refurbished since 80s, rusty sink plug, dirty silicon around sanitary ware, cracked floor tiles, carpet stained, worn(no underlay & coming away from skirting board. No information was given nor could be found in room regarding breakfast (not even using the QR code) cleaners left dirty cleaning cloth on bedside table! Milks sugar coffee & teas were not replenished. Breakfast was in a cramped setting, no knives had been laid, food was cold and tables not cleaned away or wiped properly. Very unsatisfactory stay that was expected to have been 5 star

No. The majority of hotels charge a tray charge for room service regardless of whether your meals are included. £4.00 is very reasonable.
