We've stayed in London a few times in a variety of hotels. This, although perhaps not the highest star rating, is our favourite.
It's individual and quirky (in a very good way) and the staff are wonderfully welcoming.
We liked the room - one of the cheaper doubles, it was rather nicely decorated and had the little kitchenette which made life very easy.
If and when we stay again, we'd probably upgrade so that we had a room with a view and on one of the lower floors, but all in all, great.
Oh, and very important, the location is excellent being located less than 5 mins walk to two underground stations, one on the circle line.

What a find! Stayed at Vancouver Studios for 6 nights over Christmas and couldn't have asked for a better location and accommodation facilities. If it's a self contained apartment type accommodation you are looking for, this is it with kitchenette, pots/pans, cutlery, plates etc supplied, fridge, microwave, stove top and kettle/toaster. Perfect for making breakfast to save on eating costs as is not cheap to eat in London (compared to Australia), Bathroom although small was well equipped and clean. The bedding was comfortable and overall the apartment was well presented with a view of the courtyard garden out back. The only negative thing I would say is there is no lift and you are required to drag luggage up the stairs. Lucky for us we were on the first floor. Also if you have any injury and cannot climb stairs I'd suggest you request lower ground floor.
Nearby is Bayswater and Queensway Underground train station (5 mins walk) which was very easy to use and get around. Also buses nearby easy to use with the prepaid Oyster card (purchase from Underground) Nearby are grocery stores and cafe/restaurants and other facilities. Portobello Market Notting Hill was an easy 25mins walk and Hyde Park/Kensington Palace is also not far to walk. Black cabs are easy to hail down and prices reasonable.
The staff were very helpful when asking for sightseeing advice, directions or booking car transport (to airport/St Pancras International train station)
Overall I would not hesitate to recommend Vancouver Studios and would definitely stay here again.

I couldn't recommend VS highly enough for both short and long stays! I had a single studio on the third floor facing the back of the hotel (I watched many gorgeous sunsets and sunrises). The studio was very cosy yet spacious enough, with a kitchenette, shower, toilet, table, chair, TV, Wi-Fi, wardrobe and safe. In the kitchenette a fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, pans, cutlery and crockery - everything spotlessly cleaned. The highlight of my stay was the bed. Super, super, super comfortable. It's the one thing I terribly miss, I had such restful sleep. The bedside lamp was dimmable and added to the cosy feel of the room.

VS is conveniently located within walking distance of Waitrose supermarket, Planet Organic, lots of restaurants, fast-foods, Hyde Park, Portobello Road, and three underground stations. There is a bar next to the reception, a beautiful drawing room after the bar, and a lovely garden with tables at the back.

What makes VS stand out for me is the team. Everyone was so friendly, casual and welcoming. My deepest gratitude goes to Damian, Gabriella, Paula, Sean and Isabella who made my stay so enjoyable. I felt so at home and look forward to staying there again.

Vancouver Hotel and Studios is our "home" whenever we are in London. The rooms are compact and efficient (ie, small - it's London), and impeccably clean. The staff is friendly and helpful, and will go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can possibly be. The location is outstanding, as well - on a quite street just blocks from the hustle and bustle of Bayswater and Notting Hill, with two tube stations and Hyde Park within a short walk.

This lovely old townhouse from the 1920s, with all its retained vintage charm, doesn't have a lift, so be sure to book a room on a lower floor if climbing three or four flights with luggage isn't feasible, particularly in hot weather.

Whichever room you choose, you will be able to make good use of the lovely bar, the lounge, and the private back garden with tables and chairs so you can enjoy a take-away and drinks, or read a book in the tranquil atmosphere. There is also a new gym and laundry service on offer, so all boxes are tic'ed, and we will continue staying with Vancouver Hotel and Studios any time we travel to London.

I found this place rather dingy. Our room was reached by traversing narrow halls and down a dreary back staircase. Walls were scuffed, paint was hanging like stalactites from the kitchen ceiling due to water damage, and some of furniture was noticeably stained and grubby. We stayed in a quad studio, which were all located in the basement. Although there were regular sized windows looking into "window wells", I did not like being in a basement room.

Our travel plans changed and we left London a day early. The hotel would not refund us the last night, citing their 72 hour cancellation policy (although they did offer a future room credit). While they are under no obligation to refund us, it would have been a nice thing to do and good customer service. The manager was not particularly nice, nor sympathetic, which would have gone a long way.

The positives: cheaper than many other lodging options in London, not far from Paddington/Tube stations, and the room had a full kitchen and washer/dryer, with laundry and dishwashing detergents provided.

I would definitely not stay here again, nor would I recommend it.

My sister and I brought our 82 year old mom for her first visit to Europe and we picked the perfect hotel.

As other reviews have mentioned, the location is fantastic, close to two different tube lines and around a 10 minute walk from Paddington. Queensway is a 3 minute walk with pubs, restaurants and grocery stores. Hyde Park is also a 5-8 minute walk with a hop on/ hop off bus stop close by. We also walked to Portobello road (less than a mile).

Our room was clean and comfortable with nice amenities like a coffee/espresso machine and a mini fridge. While there's no air con (which is normal for much of Europe) there is a fan in the closet if you get warm. We slept with the windows open and for the most part the street outside was quiet.

However, what we felt made this hotel special was the staff. Everyone makes you feel welcome and will do whatever they can to help you with your stay. Yes, there are stairs, but the staff was very willing to help us with our suitcases. They are so friendly and accomodating that it felt like we were coming home every evening after a day of sightseeing. We especially enjoyed when the manager would stop by some evenings with his beautiful puppies!

To sum up, this is a clean, comfortable competitively priced hotel in a great area with a staff that goes above and beyond.

Close to Hyde Park, in Bayswater, a busy area with plenty of restaurants and two different underground stations (Circle and District) for going other places. It's a comfortable old building, and the rooms vary in size. Each has a microwave and fridge. We've been coming here for over a decade. But this time, in May of 2022, we got stuck because of positive covid tests (although thankfully we weren't really sick at all). The staff could not of been more helpful. When we had arrived manager Damian gave us a lovely upgrade, and when we got stuck, we were able to say in a fairly large, totally non-claustrophobic room. When we had to move from there, he found us a small room that because a sanctuary while we waited for negative tests. Damian, and everyone here, couldn't have been more sympathetic and helpful. We always stayed here in the past; we'll never stay anywhere else in the future.

Overall, a comfortable, quiet stay. Nice neighborhood, close to many amenities and Paddington Station. Staff was friendly. Bed was a bit small but okay. Had to request a top (flat) sheet. Overhead fan was needed but operated on three speeds (high, gale force and tornado). Bathroom was extremely small with out of reach towel racks and no wash clothes (the hotel doesn't provide them). Dining out in London is crazy expensive, so the kitchenette was really great and made it convenient to fix breakfast in the room. Vancouver Studios is bit pricey, but would consider staying again.

Fantastic location and very friendly and helpful staff. I booked directly with the hotel several months in advance, and the staff was even friendly and helpful in their emails. Close to both the Bayswater and Queensway tube stations, 15-minute walk from Paddington, and just a couple of blocks from Hyde Park. My sister and I had two comfy twin beds facing the street, and there was very little street noise at night. The kitchenette was perfect for preparing meals from the local Waitrose (sorry London, but we didn't come for the food!). Lovely garden, washer + dryer £5, nice sitting room and bar. I will definitely stay here again! Yes, the shower is small but not out of character for ensuites in older hotels in the UK. Safe neighborhood--this hotel just ticked all the boxes for me!

Very pleased we chose this for a Bruce Springsteen concert stay.
Very good base for visiting London. 5 min walk from Circle Line (Bayswater) , 10 minute walk from Central Line (Queensway); easy walkable access to local groceries, drugstores, variety of pubs and restos. Fantastic staff!!!! Definitely back again
