Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Situated in the heart of London, the Radisson Blu Hampshire Hotel is lauded for its prime location, allowing easy access to the city's theatres, restaurants, and attractions. Many guests have complimented the attentive and friendly staff, although some feel the hotel doesn't fully deliver on its pre-arrival service. While the hotel's elegant public areas make a positive impression, the rooms—despite being clean and comfortable—show their age and could benefit from refurbishment. Some travelers find the hotel's pricing steep, questioning the value given the need for updates and the quality of amenities offered.

Hotel is in a fantastic location, only a two minute walk to the subway, and the staff are very well trained and polite. Check in process was very quick and efficient and as we arrived early they arranged for our luggage being stored for a few hours, and sent a text advising us that the room was now ready- very efficient process!
On the downside, we arrived back to the room at 12.30am and the fan heater was blowing out freezing cold air. Despite turning the heating dial on the bedroom wall we could not change this to blow out warm air ! I would suggest the hotel upgrades the heating dials to digital displays (like most 5 star hotels do), or at least leave instructions in the room guide as to how the heating dials work.
Although there is a wide choice available at breakfast, they only had scrambled eggs available on the three mornings we stayed there. When we ordered fried eggs it took 15 minutes for them to arrive, by which timed we had finished our fried breakfast. I can't understand why they don't have fried eggs cooked and in the heaters like scrambled eggs are, or at least have a chef available to cook asap.
Lastly - be very careful with the mini-bar, if you dislodged anything in there, you will be charged. We dislodged a bottle of sparkling water when we put some of our own water in there and were charged £3.50 on our bill (which they removed without query on checkout).

I am equally sorry that our live breakfast station took as long to produce your request. we do strive for quality and to produce requests in a timely manor when our guests order from the chef. Yes all our minibars are censored, but we can remove any or all items when requested. Hope to welcome you back soon, All the best, Alex Collins Duty Manager

From the moment we arrived at the welcome desk, we were offered a really refreshing drink, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room had an amazing view over Leicester Square and The ODEON (my mother father was manager before WW2) the bed was so comfortable, though a second bedside table on the side I slept would have been handy for my glasses and phone. The bath was a good feature, most hotel rooms are all showers these days.
We were out most of the day but came back for our evening meal in the Leicester Square Kitchen, the food is really some of the best you will eat, the portion is taster size, but don’t let that fool you, the flavours are huge!!! Service is amazing and always helpful and with a smile oh yeah the cocktails are just to die for.

Breakfast was just sublime, poached eggs cooked to perfection, the freshest fruits and juices a wonderful breakfast tea. If you want somewhere very special this is the place.

The Hampshire Hotel faces right on to Leicester Square. Our room with a king bed was perfect, with all the services that we needed for our 7 night stay. The restaurant offers a broad selection of tapas that we quite enjoyed. The breakfast was a little pricey but there are several really good options in close proximity to the hotel. We love theatre, and we could walk to all but one of 7 theatres we attended in less than 10 minutes from this location. The closest underground station is 3 minutes away, and with a weekly "Oyster" pass you need nothing else to see and access all of London.

Chinese New Years even. We have booked room through AirBnB. After a long wait we suppose to meet the host at 8pm, as agreed. We arrived to place five minutes sooner and called host. Jay is his name and he made us wair for nearly hour. After meeting the intimidating person and seeing the room we decided not to stay and as we could not get back and we had no energy, we decided to find any place to sleep till next day event.
We arrived into the lobby of the hotel and were greeted by receptionist Linda. She was very kind and explained us that there was one room available and after talking to the manager Jairo we received discounted price that included breakfast.
The room was clean, spaceous and bright, felt like home more than hotel room. Very nice and big bed. We had a rare oportunity to wear hotel slippers and robes after the shower. We layed down and agreed, that we wish we had booked earlyer to enjoy this stay and that we would try similar experience sometime again. As the bed was so comfy after not too long time we fell asleep.
In the morning we enjoyed our time as we were given extra hour due to late check in. We went down to the restaurant and had really nice breakfast. There was choice of buffet or one can order from menu. The food was good and we felt looked after by the restaurant staff. No rush, early morning coffee and we went back to room. Check out was easy and we felt rested and recovered after the bad experience the night before. Thank you Linda and Jairo for understanding and the welcoming attitude!

We stayed here to celebrate my daughters birthday weekend. The location was selected as we did three musicals that weekend and two restaurants all within the area so this worked excellently. It’s a stones throw from the tube and if you keep checking you can get some great deals. The reception staff were really welcoming, great touches of glass of Prosecco on arrival, a pick n mix sweet trolley which was a huge hit with us all. The hotel were aware that it was my daughters birthday so there was a nice touch of a small birthday cake in the room.

My only criticism and why this is a 4 not a 5, is that with many London hotels it’s been refurbished so the reception is modern, cool etc but the rest of the building is dated, old English but clean. Our room was views of Leicester Square which I selected online (was limited choice and last room left with a view) but the room was not my choice and obviously such a contrast to the modern reception and vibe, but the quality and finish is high standard.

I’d stay here again and would recommend, great staff, super location if you want to do theatre land or be central.

Thanks!

We stayed here 4 nights in Feb 2020. Flight landed in the morning so we were early when we arrived at the hotel around 10am in the morning. We asked if we could leave our luggage in the lobby since we were early. Front desk staff was amazing and told us that there was actually a room available for us to move in right away. Also gave us a complimentary upgrade.

The room (one above standard room) was spacious and clean. Beds comfortable. We were on the 7th floor with a view of leiceister square. I was a bit wary as I read reviews that the noise from the bars below could be heard from the rooms. I did not experience any of this and it was quiet at night despite the square below being crowded. The hotel has probably insulated their windows with an additional layer.

Special mention to Zelish from the front desk, and Kieran at the main door who was a delight to pass every time we went in and out of the lobby. The two Italian bartenders at the restaurant also made a good impression, didn't manage to get their names. Ended up routinely having cocktails before bed.

While other 5 star hotels may have more luxurious rooms, the service and location of this hotel is top notch. Will definitely return.

We have stayed at this hotel before on our last visit to the theatre, it’s really handy for sightseeing as the tube is only a few minutes away
The hotel itself is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful
If you are visiting Monday to Friday try to get a room away from the construction work being carried out next door as it’s quite noisy.
Weekend’s are ok
There’s a small bar area away from the restaurant which is OK for a drink when you return to the hotel, can be a bit pricey but still ok. Cannot review restaurant as we ate out at local places, loads near the hotel to try
The rooms are really nice and quite large, they are spotless inside. The bathroom has an excellent shower and a great bath for a good soak after a hard day’s sightseeing and shopping
We will stay there again for our next visit to the theatre or for just a trip into the city

A very pleasant hotel in a central location with no traffic noise. Walking distance to so many theatres

Rooms are "faded glory" but spotlessly clean. Rooms had kettle with tea and coffee and a fridge.

The hotel felt very safe. For such a central location

Bed was very comfortable Bathrooms well stocked with toiletries and towels.

The hotel staff were all great, polite, and friendly. A special mention to the reception staff who were all unfailingly helpful.

The breakfast offers the usual juices with a small selection of yogurt and fruit, cold cuts etc.
The hot selection included a full English, as well as a Peruvian breakfast choice. The poached eggs we ate each morning were fabulous. Hot food was cooked to order.

We were looking for somewhere with a good location to the west end for shows and booked online. Booked a standard double but on arrival were given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite on the second floor overlooking Leicester Square, a large room with good facilities, only issue was the noise heard from the square with street artists but late night was better. We had a good sleep, chose not to have breakfast but when you book in they give you the option to book breakfast a a lower price of £19 instead of the usual £26 on the morning. Recommend to book if you do though. I can’t comment on any of the facilities as we did not use them just used it as a base.only comments on the room is a lamp would have been handy on one side of the room to use at night at the nightlight didn’t appear to work. Beds comfortable and clean, bathroom felt a little dated as well as the room but still enjoyable. Thank you. Would book again.

We had booked three rooms at a great price for our first weekend away since the pandemic and we couldn’t have asked for a more fabulous stay! We were upgraded on check in to three beautiful suites with so much space, all were immaculately clean and had fab facilities such as Ren toiletries, a Nespresso coffee machine and bottled water.
We asked for more water and were pleasantly surprised that it was included in the price of the room which is rare these days when so many hotel chains use this as an opportunity to make a quick buck at elevated prices.
Even though we faced out onto Leicester Square the windows were fully soundproofed so we had a peaceful night’s sleep in our huge, comfortable bed.
Breakfast the next morning was delicious and plentiful and the service attentive and the hotel had made many adaptations to ensure guests were kept safe during Covid.
Special mention goes to Filipa, Pedro, Eva and Kieran who were so friendly and really looked after us. Customer service at its finest. Would happily have stayed longer!
