The Covent Garden Hotel opened in April 1996 but the building dates back to the 1890’s when it operated as a French hospital. It is located in Monmouth Street, a charming cobbled street in the heart of the theatre district and surrounded by interesting boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars. Covent Garden Hotel is "a quirky modern take on traditional English style." The hotel's interior has been dramatically designed by owner and design director Kit Kemp, and reflects her personal attention to detail. The ground floor is just like a stage set. A quietly bustling lobby leads into Brasserie Max, the hotel’s bar and restaurant. Up a sweeping stone staircase and into a sumptuous wood paneled drawing room and library, each with a log burning fireplace, quirky furniture and vivid upholstery. Downstairs there is a gym, private event space and a screening room.

A well located hotel in the heart of Seven Dials and just a short stroll from Covent Garden, it’s easy to miss even if you’re looking for it, as it really looks more like a smart restaurant from the outside and there were plenty of people sat at tables on the pavement. Once inside it’s quite refined and elegant, and the receptionist was pleasant and friendly, although I’m not sure her grasp of English was as good as it could have been. They guy who took us to our room was helpful and knowledgeable, and pointed out the resident’s lounge which was available 24 hours per day. The room itself was a little on the small side I thought given the price point, but it was clean, tidy and well equipped with large TV, writing desk, iron, well stocked mini bar and so on. On the downside, there were no tea/coffee making facilities or even complimentary water – this was £4 a bottle from the mini bar. Quite why it is that far cheaper hotels can manage to provide this when expensive ones can’t I’m not sure. To be fair though, the evening turn down service did leave a couple of complimentary bottles by the bed. Oddly though, the glasses that we had grabbed from the minibar to drink from were not refreshed, we were left with the same ones to use again the next day. The bathroom was again a little on the small side with the loo squeezed in at an odd angle, but there were twin sinks and a decent shower. Despite facing Shaftsbury Avenue, the windows were tripled glazed and there was very little noise.

We didn’t try breakfast as it seemed ridiculously expensive, and there are plenty of good eateries nearby. We tried to use the bar one night, but were told that at 10:45 that they had stopped serving. This doesn’t seem particularly late for a resident to get a drink, and it’s not even as if it was all closed up; there were still half a dozen people sat there, and a bartender behind the bar counter. Why on earth they couldn’t have rustled us up something I don’t know and that seemed very poor for a hotel that prides itself on service, I thought. They guy who showed us around did say that we should treat the place as our own home, so I suppose I should have just gone behind the bar and helped myself. Overall, I liked it here and would happily stay again, but it is very expensive for what you get and the lack of bar service seemed rather inexcusable.

5 star in every sense.
The location is perfect for visiting Central London, 3-4 mins walk into the centre of Covent Garden but in a relatively quiet (very quiet late at night) street.
The staff are polite, friendly, helpful and attentive in a very understated way and were engaging throughout our stay.
The service is impeccable and the breakfast is as good as my wife and I have had in the UK, great quality ingredients, very large portions and served piping hot, just how it should be. We had late drinks in the bar area on both nights of our stay and although very busy we were served quickly.
Our room was great, we stayed in a Superior Queen room that was furnished to a really high standard and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to London.
Thank you Covent Garden Hotel.

This is my second time staying in the Covent Garden Hotel and once again we had a brilliant time. We did have a problem with our room initially but once I discussed it with Stephen at reception he went out of his way to move us to another room which I really appreciated. Stephen initially checked us in and in all our dealings with him he was so friendly and helpful, so thank you!! It really makes a huge difference when you are made to feel as though you are a valued customer. The hotel is in a great location. Breakfast was included in our tariff and it was very good, with an extensive buffet selection and interesting hot food options. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and it is now our favourite hotel in London!!

Covent Garden Hotel is an exceptional hotel in London's Seven Dials neighborhood, wonderfully walkable and exciting streets near Covent Garden. The hotel's modest size contributes to the warm and friendly ambiance. The interior design is worth a visit in itself. Each graciously-sized room is individually decorated in a modern scheme that awakens the senses to the richness of fabrics and original art. Bathrooms are spacious and well appointed, with terrific amenities. The hotel's common rooms, such as the library and living room, are elegant yet welcoming. Excellent restaurant. Staff is warm, attentive, discreet, and mindful of guests' special requests. My favorite London hotel; this Christmas was our fourth annual Holiday stay at Covent Garden.

This is such a lovely hotel tucked away in Covent Garden. A friend had booked a group of us into the hotel for afternoon tea and what an experience. As soon as you walk in it is beautiful, the decor and we went just before Christmas and the Christmas decorations and trees were amazing. I love the stair case and the lounge.
Staff greeted us on the way in and showed us where to go, you can order a traditional afternoon tea or a gentleman's cream tea, in our party we tried a selection of both.
the experience was made special, tea arrives on a trolley, beautiful cups, saucers, tea pots, amazing selection of teas to choose from. We had champagne with the traditional afternoon tea, the gentleman's came with a choice of beers, or an amazing whisky cocktail which the guys loved. The guys teas ranged from mini fish and chips, mini steak sandwiches, scones, cakes. The food was excellent as was the whole experience.
After tea we were treated to a tour of the hotel which was also amazing, a first class day out.

Chose this hotel based on location, and weren’t disappointed. Easily walked to theatre, antique book stores, Covent Garden Market and Soho.

Had a lovely “luxury” room, which was a great size and with a nice bath/shower. Unusual to have so much space in London.

Restaurant very nice, but pricey. Often full of theatre-goers. There is a residents-only lounge on the 1st floor which is very comfortable, but is definitely missing a cat or two.

Reception staff very friendly. Restaurant staff seem overworked and the same servers from breakfast are still there at 11pm. Not very worker-friendly.

Would stay there again.

Stayed for a weekend break. Easy to find when walking - not so much when driving due to all the road works around this area. Short walk to Covent Garden Market and street entertainment. Felt like we were in the hub of everything.
Friendly welcoming and beautiful hotel. Had breakfast both mornings which was well set out and organised. Served by attentive and friendly people. Didn't have time for an evening meal but would definitely book it if we stayed again.
The bedroom was spacious and tastefully decorated. However, I was disappointed to find that there was no tea tray. For me this is essential to the comfort of a hotel stay and I raised it the next morning - a kettle and selection of teas was brought up to the room. Although I appreciate I could ring down for a drink during the day, this is not really an option when you wake at 3am and just need a quiet camomile to get you back off!
A few small items which I would expect in a bathroom where also missing and some thought needs to be given to this to enhance the comfort of the stay.

We have spent numerous nights at Covent Garden Hotel on our many trips to London, and we LOVE it!
The atmosphere, the amazing service, fantastic food, lovely design, location, - this hotel has it all!!
All rooms are designed differently but within the skilled Kit Kemp’s beautiful interior design.
In addition Kit Kemp has designed Covent Garden Hotel’s exclusive bath product collection, which is by far the best we’ve ever used! (The “RikRak” series HAS to be tested, it’s amazingly good!!)
Make sure to schedule a lunch and(or) dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, it will not disappoint.
Covent Garden Hotel will always stay our number 1 place to stay in London, well worth the price!
In addition, you’ll never meet a nicer and more service minded staff than here :)

Eight family members us had afternoon tea. One of the party was allergic to the allium family and the staff went out of their way to accommodate her. I must say we all enjoyed the food and excellent teas. A good selection of sandwiches and beautiful cakes. These cakes I personally felt were superior to the Ritz cakes I have had. There was fresh fruit topping the cakes and warm scones with clotted cream and jam. I definitely will go back there and take friends.

We have stayed at the Covent Garden Hotel many times. The location is wonderful for what we do in London... opera, ballet, theatre, museums. The hotel, is of course, beautifully decorated and is extremely comfortable in every way.The rooms and amenities are well thought out...[ terrific mattresses!] the public areas lovely,

The concierge and door staff were incredible. They attended to our every need… without even being asked, I might add. We were traveling with an elderly couple, who needed extra help and this particular staff of the hotel made everything so easy for us. In fact, when we were leaving, a photo was taken of all of us with the staff hugging goodbye. We felt we were leaving family.

Our only complaint was the kitchen and restaurant staff. The kitchen must have been understaffed and the restaurant staff not fully trained. The food was not up to the level we had experienced on prior visits. One morning, the pancakes were served hard, dry and overcooked. Basically inedible. It took a half an hour to get one cappuccino on another morning, following two inquiries. I am sure this is simply temporary, as we never experienced this on previous stays.

The lighting in rooms is great because there are lot's of lights that can be dimmed and adjusted. The common room, which my family and I didn't use looks very cozy like a library and has a fireplace. I think it would be a wonderful place to read a book!
