Nestled in the heart of Leicester Square, Hotel Indigo London offers a stay steeped in 1920s art deco style, with theatrical touches that guests have enjoyed. While the rooftop views are a highlight, some visitors have expressed disappointment due to occasional amenity closures and the absence of a gym. The hotel's cleanliness earns high marks, especially the pristine conditions of the rooms and bathrooms. However, the room sizes and layouts have drawn criticism for being cramped. Service quality has seen mixed reviews, with some negative experiences impacting guests' perceptions. Additionally, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many, citing steep prices and extra charges that seem disproportionate to the offerings.

Stayed 5 nights. The signage is not the best so it was a bit difficult to find it upon arrival to Leicester Square. Front desk staff were incredibly helpful and nice. Like most rooms in London, the Queen bed room was small, but clean and comfortable. They maximized the use of space. Window faced electronic billboard in Leicester Square but black out curtains worked great. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard except you had menu options too which was great, but it took forever to get coffee, latte, etc., despite being fully staffed. My only issue with hotel is that the elevators to the public restaurant at the top of the hotel (with a great view) also accessed guest floors. This did not feel secure to me as a hotel guest. I would definitely consider staying here again, however.

I decided last minute to stay over in London as hospitality was involved on the Friday night until late and it seemed a pity to have to leave early to catch a last train home as the night was to finish at Cafe de Paris. I searched for Leicester square hotels and up came Hotel Indigo, the price was right and amazingly there was a room available. The location was perfect, situated one minute away and in the centre of my two places the Comedy club Ruby Blue and Cafe de Paris. I read a few reviews with a couple of negatives due to lift issues but with concerned replies from management explaining they were in the process of being replaced. The lift worked fine! the reception staff were welcoming the hotel was really well decorated and themed and the room had tea/filter bag coffee, biscuits and a minibar, there was a brilliant wet room /bathroom suite, a big flat screen tv and a bed you just sank into after a fun night out. The 9th floor cocktail bar (also breakfast/dinner served there) had great views a little pricey on cocktails (from £14.00) but done well so it kicked off the evening nicely. It had all the attributes of the big hotel standards so now on my list for the next time I need a central stay over.

Recently stayed here for Valentines weekend. Hotel is in a great location for being in central London. The hotel itself was small, no area downstairs that you can sit and drink with friends to do this you had to go to the 9th floor and with only one lift working and having to wait 30mins for lift was easier to go out. The room was an good size, just had to be careful when getting up at night to not knock yourself out on the tv hanging off the wall. No irons in the room. Our view was of the gym above M&M World!
Overall we’ve stayed in nicer hotels that offer a lot more for less money, you are definitely paying for the location here and not the standard of the hotel.

Dear Herbie00, Thank you for reviewing your recent visit to Hotel indigo - 1 Leicester Square. We're pleased you enjoyed our central location. We're sorry to hear that you faced some problems with our lift. We sincerely apologise for the lengths of time that it is taking to get the lift back in service. The current lift is unfortunately beyond repair and a brand new one has been ordered and is being manufactured. Works to install the new lift will be ongoing throughout March and April, once the 5 months manufacturing process has been completed, the waiting time for the rooftop will be reduced heavily. For future, please feel free to request an iron from our reception team who will be happy to bring this up to you. We do hope we get to see you again soon. All the best, Paul Hunter Area General Manager

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo Leicester Square for two night’s in January, It has a great location, right on Leicester Square, the room was fine, reception staff were very efficient when checking us in, they were very friendly and keen to help us with any information we may have needed, however, I went for breakfast on the second morning, I was brought a coffee and breakfast menus after being seated but there was no milk, I asked the waiter for milk, he said he’d bring some straight away. After 10 minutes I asked another waiter for milk and I still hadn’t ordered breakfast. I was sat quite close to the waiters station and the restaurant was less than 25% full, so the waiters weren’t to busy, after another 15 minutes I still didn’t have any milk and still hadn’t ordered my breakfast, at this point I left, I did mention it to the 2 waiters as I left, who both just looked at me, and I did bring it up with the receptionist when I checked out later on.
The hotel is fine but the restaurant staff really need some customer service training.

Good if you need a central location on Leicester Square. The staff were friendly and helpful enough when we needed it. The bathroom in the room was nicely decorated and appointed. I liked the theatre theme of the hotel.
Other than that… not many positives I’m afraid.

We asked for an ironing board and it was delivered to our room quickly. However, the iron had clearly been used before and someone had ironed something leaving a sticky residue on the base plate. This then transferred to my trousers!

The shelves in the room were dusty and there was rubbish (a drinks bottle and a finished pack of crisps) in one of the cabinets. The cleaning staff need to ensure they clean properly and everywhere.

The kettle caused a fuse to blow meaning we lost all power to the TV and all the sockets in the room. On the plus side the staff were quick to replace the kettle which was the culprit.

Given the location bare in mind you will hear some noise from outside. It was noticeable but not unbearable and we managed to sleep.

There is no room service nor is there a coffee machine in the room.

Oddly, the rooftop bar is separately run and owned and we couldn’t get a drink after we’d returned to the hotel at 22:45!
We did go for breakfast in the morning and the full English was okay. The view over London was nice but overhyped. Maybe its better at night. The massive Odeon sign kind of spoils the view.
If you wanted to sit by the window, which we did, you have to sit on these low low chairs with the table much higher. You end up eating your breakfast with your elbows above your head. Even worse was the state of the chairs; I have never seen so many stains on a chair before. They MUST replace these chairs.

Way overpriced for what you get. But then again London is overpriced.

Overall, would I stay here again… yes. But only after I’ve looked elsewhere.

Hi daz909, Thank you for taking the time to write us the feedback on your visit. We strive to provide the best hotel experience and exceptional service but missed the mark. I'm sorry that you were left disappointed with your recent stay due to the noise outside our property, the cleanliness issues with the iron and shelves, the problem with the kettle, the lack of room service or coffee machine in the room, and the concerns with the chairs available at the bar. It is certainly not the experience we want our guests to have. I have shared your sentiments with the management team for their reference. I trust they'll take the necessary actions to address this and ensure a better stay experience moving forward. I hope you still consider us again and give us another chance to host you the next time you visit the area. Regards, Virgil N. Case Manager IHGService

I recently stayed at this hotel with family to celebrate my son's on-line university graduation.
We had the private dining room/meeting/event room on the 9th floor complete with large television to watch the graduation. Such a stunning location with magnificent views of London. I cannot fault the day, I had been corresponding with May (who is amazing) on the front desk to ensure the family day ran perfectly, and I could not have asked for a better place to hold the graduation.
May had arranged on my request for a graduation cake to be made for me by the chef and this was truly exquisite.
I can honestly say that we had a lovely stay, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we spent two nights in very comfortable clean, well stocked room's and yes the bar is busy in the evening, and booking is recommended even for guests, however it is still a great place in central London, and if you need a room for a celebration or a meeting or even a private dinner this is the place to book!
I cannot wait to re visit.

We have tried to rearrange our booking due to the present lockdown. The hotel has said we must rearrange to a date between now and the end of september but this is a more expensive time so we cannot book without paying more money. If we cancel we don't get our money back despite it not being our fault. They are not prepared to find us a date that is the same price as our original booking. I will definately never book this hotel again.

Spent 3 nights at the indigo in March. All staff I encountered were very friendly and the room and bathroom was very clean and felt very modern. The White Company toiletries in the bathroom were very nice.
The bar/restaurant on the top floor was great with fantastic views over the city.

A brilliant location on Leicester Square with great views over London & the ability to people watch on those below - buskers, dancers, tourists, drunks etc etc.
A few minutes walk from Theatreland, Covent Garden, Piccadilly, Thames Embankment.
We paid extra for a corner room (603) for an even better view. The room however had an unpleasant smell (like stale menthol?) and the windows don't open to clear it. I note this has been mentioned by another reviewer who has posted photos of the same room.
Room was small, needs a redecorate (peeling plaster in places) but was adequate for our needs. Wall mounted TV looked like a poor DIY project with cables hanging down & looks like it was about to fall off. Comfy bed.
Worth prebooking at least one breakfast in the 9th floor restaurant for the views although the best seats next to the window are too low to comfortably eat from the tables. The breakfast was good & cooked to order. The staff however were a miserable lot without a smile between on two separate days.
The restaurant converts to a cocktail bar from midday but don't expect a late night drink when you come home as it shuts at 11, or 12 (including for residents), depending on the grumpiness of the staff on duty.
There is no room service.

Booked a few nights here for me and my boyfriends anniversary and it was an all round amazing experience. So good that we even booked an extra night!

The reception staff were lovely, chatty and accommodating despite us being a bit early for check in.

On the second night there was a pluming issue in our room, the staff very kindly upgraded us to a larger room and gave us drinks vouchers for the bar as an apology! So thoughtful, this gesture definetly made up for any inconvenience caused.

The roof top bar was very nice with amazing cocktails (very pricy but it is London and as I said it was an anniversary so we were happy to spend a little extra!), there is also plenty of drinks and dining alternatives near by if the roof top bar isn’t for you!

The breakfast was amazing and staff were so lovely. We were initially only going to have one breakfast while we were there to see what it was like, but my partner enjoyed it so much we kept returning.

The only downside to the breakfast was hearing the way other guests were speaking to the staff. Our experience was very professional, timely and great quality food. And even if this wasn’t the case I would never speak to the staff memebers in the way I heard them being spoken to by other customers. However if the staff see this then please know you were doing an amazing job!

A fab location, and despite being in such a busy area you could barely hear anything at night making for a perfect sleep each night.

Will definetly be returning as soon as we can, and a big thank you to the staff for making our anniversary so special

Hi, the same happened to me. I paid a one-night deposit upon booking, but it was never taken out of my account. I did call, and I was told that it could go out at any time between the date of booking and the day before arrival. It had still not gone out the day before arrival, and they ended up just taking it along with the balance for the stay when I checked in.
