Top location, fantastic staff, great rooms, and lovely food.

If you want to be in the swing of things, L'oscar is the spot to be. Close by walking to major attractions, but also right across the street from a major tube hub.

Upon arrival the staff really shined. We checked in with Daniel, who was lovely from hello to goodby on the trip. Our room was fantastic (high floor, as requested, thank you) and tons of room, closet space (a walk in) and a great bathroom (nice tub).

It was a big anniversary trip from my partner and me and they totally delivered. Beta (a true star!) greeted us a short while after checking in to deliver a small cake and some other sweets to help us celebrate.

Another feature, which is beyond sexy, is that we are two women traveling. They had the soap in the room swapped to be only the Femme soap. A small touch, and I almost didn't notice until I realized there was a second scent in the lobby, but wow it was impressive. LGBTQ people, this is the place to be.

Finally we come to the food. We ate breakfast every day and LOVED it. For lunch, the fish and chips was exceptional.

One final note, there is a lot of seating in a few different spots in the main lobby, which it nice if you want to hang out, have a drink/tea, and shoot out a few emails outside the room. It's really helpful when you have two people traveling and one needs to take a work call or two in the room.

Bottom line, L'oscar stole our hearts. We can't wait to celebrate our next major anniversary with them.

I was impressed by the service even before we arrived at the hotel-within a few minutes after I made the reservation, I received a call from Diana (I think she is a manager) inquiring our arrival time (it was 6am) and if it is for any special occasion (our anniversary) or if we have any special requests (we did not). I have never received this kind of special attention and services before! Diana told me that although she can’t guarantee it she will see if the room can be ready earlier.
We arrived at the airport, did the 2 day test and arrived at the hotel just after 8am. This is not our first trip to London and usually our plane lands early in the morning and our routine is to leave our luggages at the hotel and go out to look around and have lunch. This time, it would have been a bit difficult since it was a rainy February Sunday morning when hardly anything was open. We we arrived at the hotel to ask if we can leave our luggages, we were invited to their reception area with smiles and Diana came out to greet us. We were told that the room will be ready in the next 30min and in the mean while we were offered hot cups of coffee and delicious financiers! It was a really nice gesture after an overnight flight!
The hotel is in a historic building but the rooms have all the modern convenience while preserving the old time charm! They also offer turn down services. A very nice cake and macaroons were delivered for our anniversary that was a nice touch! In addition to its great location(you can get to Holburn station within 1-2minites, you can walk to the West End theatres in 10-15 mins) the servers that the hotel provides is not even close to any other hotels that we have been to! I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough!

Took my sister for afternoon tea, to celebrate her birthday. I called ahead to order a bottle of champagne, which was on the table when we arrived.
The venue is beautiful and has clearly had a lot of time and money spent on it.
We had the ‘sinners’ afternoon tea, which was absolutely delicious and included three cocktails, so was pretty good value in my opinion.
The service was outstanding. Every member of staff we came into contact with went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely experience. There was just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. Special thanks to Constantine for his attention and recommendations.
Highly recommended.

Last year, my partner and I booked to stay for five nights in June 2020 before heading off on a Mediterranean cruise. We paid the full cost of the hotel stay up front as it was more cost-effective. We were well aware that the payment was non-refundable.
Recently, the cruise was cancelled because of the coronavirus.
We contacted L’oscar and advised that we would not be travelling to London in June and requested a deferral of our reservation. We still wanted to ultimately stay in this hotel because of all the very good things we had heard about it.
We received a prompt response stating that the hotel was happy to defer the reservation until 31 December 2020. We were concerned that this may be too soon, depending upon the state of the global pandemic and were immediately advised that our deposit would remain valid until June 2021. They also indicated that there would be flexibility around this date if we needed it.
We were very pleasantly surprised by this treatment given the financial stress that hotels such as this must be facing at this time. Not just a great looking hotel but one with excellent ethics and customer service!

Have just returned from 2 night stay at this beautiful boutique hotel, there are many wonderful things to remember about our stay. We stayed in a Superior Room and throughout the hotel the colors are vibrant and intense, but all done very tastefully and elegant.

Although we stayed in a Superior room, the bathroom which has full sized, well lit mirrors, thick towels and comfortable bathrobes had an beautiful marble cladded bathroom with a rain shower at a really enormous size! Normally you find such a generously sized shower in other hotels only at Suite level. We never wanted to get out of the shower!

Furthermore, the hotel is an oasis in busy London, however once you step out of the hotel you can walk to Covent Garden or Chinatown and you right in the hustle and bustle of Holborn. Very central location, with the tube less then 3 min walking distance away.

The most memorable aspect of our stay was certainly the staff of the hotel. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by General Manager! While all the staff are friendly and attentive, a special mention goes to Erick from the Reception who did our check in when we arrived. He is from Guatemala, he loved to talk to us at any time and he made us feel at home right from the arrival! His interest in people and his passion is sincere and very natural.

Overall, our stay was too short, but we will be back soon; next time we will have a drink at the stunning The Baptist Bar which was not open during our stay. The hotel is now part of the Swiss Michel Reybier Hospitality Group and we hear that there are exciting further developments planned!

If you have not heard about this hotel, then you are missing out! The location is superb, their restaurant busy (although we did not eat there during our stay), the bar was stunning and the room elegant, so we can sincerely recommend this beautiful property.

Schlepping down Holborn on a Saturday lunchtime I spot a new restaurant (new to me anyway) called l'Oscar looking vaguely Belle Epoque in design. Inside the decor is dazzling; I would go so far as to say breathtaking. In fact l'Oscar is a boutique hotel, with a brasserie serving Neo-French food, hung with drapes, classical arabesque black and gold panels and featuring a glowing marble bar. A pleasant reception from the staff, too. The menu is reasonably priced. Moroccan Soup is swirled with gem-like emerald spirals and yoghurt; flavours of tagine. Beautiful to look and just as good to taste. Now I am looking forward to the rabbit pie. What arrives, in a round, black iron dish, looks more like a casserole: diced potatoes over rabbit chunks. Surely pie means meat encased in a crispy pastry? The waiter explains that the dish is their interpretation of pie. Well, I suppose they could claim that there is no pastry on a shepherd's or cottage pie. The 'pie' is moderately good; the rabbit a bit chewy. Rather less than I had expected. Nonetheless, l'Oscar is a stunning venue and worth a visit. The atmosphere is hushed except for a background of rather annoying disco/lift music. Despite that I shall return. The Bill for a large Scotch, two courses and a glass of Bordeaux came to £60 with service!

My wife and I stayed at L'Oscar for two nights on a recent trip to London and can recommend the hotel highly for it's delightfully whimsical design and the friendly professionalism of its staff. Our room, a junior suite on the 4th floor, was oversized with a beautiful bath and sitting area. During out stay, we also had the opportunity to try the restaurant, and had a wonderful meal.

If there is a negative, it is that the hotel is on a busy street. However, the hotel and our guest room were quiet and we liked being in a central location on the tube and within easy walking distance of Covent Garden and central London.

L'Oscar delivered the finest experience we have ever had in London. The location is perfect and central to the city, the Tube and the train stations. There is no finer staff that the ones at L'Oscar. From the moment we arrived the front desk staff, the restaurant staff and the housekeeping staff went out of their way to be certain that our needs were met throughout the entire stay. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and still retain the charm of the original building with high decorative ceilings.

Very nice boutique hotel in an excellent location, within walking distance from Trafalgar Square and Covent Gardens. We were there for a wedding and some sightseeing,
Ali at the Reception Desk was great - he checked us in early in the morning upon our arrival from the USA and was also the one who checked us out when we left 5 days later. We can't thank him enough.
The restaurant is top-notch.
The rooms are fitted with all the luxury amenities and the technology we could expect from a modern 5 star hotel, and the housekeeping staff was very efficient and prompt.
It us a boutique hotel with 39 rooms, but in terms of luxury and location, it is a great value.

Personal service with beautifully appointed rooms. Originally booked a junior suite but through Amex platinum was upgraded to the Loft Suite. This was a spacious room that had an extended King bed, large living space and marble bathroom with tub.

Room service, whether it was morning coffee and pastries or a late dessert, was always prompt and each meal we ate was genuinely satisfying.

L’Oscars location was great for us as we wanted to be close to all attractions but still have a sense of peace and quiet.

If you’re considering this hotel, I highly recommend you stay especially as the comparable options are likely more expensive and offer half the personal experience.
