We visited as a family of 3 between 10th and 14th July 2023.
Originally we weren't due to check in until 2pm but arriving on an early flight we enquired whether we could leave our bags somewhere then go out and check in later. The gentleman on the desk allowed us to check in early instead, which was fantastic as it allowed us to freshen up and step out ready for an afternoon exploring Notting Hill and Portobello. This was very much appreciated.
Ultimately in this hotel you are paying for the location - walking distance to Hyde Park, Bayswater, Portobello and Notting Hill, as well as Notting Hill Gate tube station allowing you access to the Circle, District and Central lines, it really couldn't be better. Shops, cafes and restaurants are all around, including the fantastic De Amicis Italian which is well worth booking a table.
The room we had was of reasonable size, on the ground floor, and had what we needed (apart from a fridge). Decor was tired and in need of a refresh, but we were prepared for this. Unfortunately, the only means of cooling the room was a wall mounted fan, and there were 2 skylights which we had no means of controlling whether they were open or not. During our stay it was routinely +20°C even overnight and those temperatures in London are sweltering.
The bathroom was tiny, which also meant it was a little smelly (must be difficult to clean properly) and definitely showing its' age. Someone had left hairs on the tiles next to the bathroom mirror, we can only assume the guest before us. Kudos to them as they remained stuck there all week.
This, and the fact we also made our beds before leaving in the morning and they remained untouched, DIDN'T inspire confidence in housekeeping.
It was tolerable for the time we actually spent in the room and the price, friendly staff, location etc. it's actually the room temperature and ventilation which would stop us from staying again. Thank-you, but 4 nights was enough.

This hotel was an easy and short walk from Notting Hill Gate Tube station. The location was excellent; it's on top of plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops. The hotel itself has someone on reception 24/7, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout.

The twin room was small with very limited storage, but the beds were comfortable and the linen was clean. The en-suite was perfectly acceptable; the shower was hot and a good pressure. There was a kettle, and the tea-making facilities were well stocked (and replaced daily).

We were on the second floor and there was no lift, so be mindful of staying here if you have mobility issues.

Contrary to what the hotel claims here, it did not offer breakfast at all, let alone for free, which was something of a disappointment as we were relying on that for the mornings, and is one of the reasons we chose to stay here.

The hotel did not inform us of the construction going on next door, so we had to keep the window closed to keep the noise out. The room did have a strong wall fan, however, so it wasn't too warm.

All in all it was good hotel for the price, and exactly what you'd expect from a budget hotel in practically the centre of London.

Notting Hill Gate Hotel has a perfect location, and a both friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately the hotels doesn't live up to it's standard because they no longer serve breakfast and have stopped with it 2 years ago, and there were only little cleaning at the room. Luckyli there was at breakfast restaurant just around the corner. The floors were very dirty due to artisans working at the place, and there was even not a plastic glass at the bathroom, and neither a power outlet for your hair dryer though the bathroom was newly renovated. The rooms weren't soundproofed despite the newly renovation, which caused a terrible noise from other families with small children. I can therefore only recommend Notting Hill Gate Hotel if you only need to stay a single night in London.

The location of the hotel is perfect as it is in a nice and quiet neighbourhood, near to Notting Hill Gate station, all amenities are available in walking distance.
The room is not Spacious, but in my experience that's normal in central London. Room is comfortable and clean, they provide daily room service, new towels, shampoo....,tea and coffee facilities, the front desk is very helpful and friendly, good wifi.
We will definitely come and stay here again.

Do not stay at this hotel it's disgusting, dirty and the staff are damm right rude and disrespectful. Room was a dump very dirty and to crappy single beds shoved together with no room to even move around. All the staff are so rude and 1 staff in particular kept trying to hassle my 1 year old daughter trying to give her cuddles and kissing her hand it's absolutely disgusting.

Very expensive for the dump you get only good thing is the location but I would never come here again and would advise others to avoid at all costs. Both nights had the people in the room above banging all night till late in the morning and the staff done absolutely nothing because they don't care. Also walked into the reception to a foul smell of rotten chicken that was just on the front desk.

I wish I payed the extra money to stay at a better hotel but you live and learn but would not want others to be treated the way me and my family have during my stay it was just outright disrespectful.
Luckily you have to rate it a 1 but that's because you can't put it as a 0 which is what it deserves.

I don't normally wrote bad reviews but my time in London has been ruined due to a massively poor hotel and even worse staff so please take into consideration before booking this hotel it is not worth the money you will be paying and the don't deserve to get the money you work so hard to get.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

Booked an additional room here for an extra family member wishing to join us on our trip via bookin.com. Selected the option to pay on arrival. However they kept trying to charge my card then threatened to cancel the booking because they was unsuccessful. I called to explain there was no mention that I would need to pay a month in advance and the very rude man with an eastern European accent said you either pay now or book another hotel! I contacted Booking.com who looked into this and agreed they didn’t state an upfront fee was required and told them they had to honour my booking and the agreement that I pay on arrival. They then continued to try and charge my card and when again unsuccessful cancelled my booking! Highly unprofessional and bad service. When I rang to query this with the hotel I had the same receptionist who very smuggly said I guess now you’ll have to find another hotel! Their loss. Bad business looses customers…

This place was very nice and we loved the location, very close by to Notting Hill Gate station and bus stops, restaurants, supermarkets. The staff working was very nice and helpful.
Good size en-suite room, clean and comfortable, better than we expected.
Good value for the stay in London, would certainly stay here again

The staff at the Notting Hill Gate were always friendly, accommodating and exactly what you would want.
Incredibly professional and dedicated to providing a high quality service.
Budget prices do not need to mean low quality service- and the Notting Hill Gate is exactly this: a high quality service for a very low price.
In a superlative location, with excellent rooms, a lovely ambience and I could not recommend it more.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location and that we got to leave.
The room was the size of a shoebox, management were rude, not helpful and abrupt.
The website stated that all the rooms had been recently renovated, this statement and the hotel photo’s were a lie.
Breakfast would have been impossible due to the fact that the room was full of towels and linen, more of a storeroom than a breakfast room
I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I attempted to book this hotel for a stay in July next year. After booking, I received an email stating that there had been a problem with the booking, requesting me to call the hotel directly, stating their phone number.

When I called the hotel, the call was answered without stating whom I was speaking with. I tried to explain the situation and was told that I had to go back to my booking to amend the information. When I tried explaining that I had tried to do this, the hotel staff member continued to repeat the same phrase, now shouting at me.

I do not believe that it is acceptable to shout at anybody, and as a result, I have now cancelled my booking and rebooked with an alternative hotel. I am very disappointed that a hotel's staff would speak to customers in this way.
