I’ve wanted to stay at this hotel for a long time, so I was excited to visit. I remember this hotel making quite a splash when it opened about 15 years ago. But the staff at the front desk rather let it down I’m afraid. Only time I’ve ever experienced the reception staff not finding my name when I checked in. Took quite some time to resolve. It seemed that because I booked it a couple of hours before, it wasn’t on their system. Not that any apology or explanation was offered to me by the staff. I felt the manner of the man who dealt with me was not as professional in approach as I would have expected. He wasn’t rude to me, but there was no warmth or welcome whatsoever. I suspect they may have a lot of “difficult” guests here and they have become hardened to it. There’s a long flight of stairs at entrance - not ideal if you have suitcases. No help is offered with them. Also the car park they use is quite a distance away. This makes for quite a stressful beginning to the stay. The room was however spacious and the bed was comfortable. We slept well. But the whole place has a weird atmosphere I thought, and isn’t calming or relaxing. The trouble is that if you have a difficult experience at the front desk when checking in, it colours your whole view of the place. My feeling is that this was once a really great hotel which is not being properly looked after. Or perhaps they just can’t get decent staff since Brexit. Only one person on reception at check out time said it all. Frayed carpets on the main stairway don’t help either. Shame as I’m a Beatles fan and I was looking forward to staying here.…
Staying in Liverpool for a couple of days around the Eagles concert at Anfield. To be honest we didn’t spend much time in the hotel, but loved the convenient location for the Cavern and other music venues. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, I’ll forgive you (based on age) for not having a clue who the Eagles were 🎤😃. Room was clean and no issues with noise. Breakfast was busy, had to wait a few minutes for table for 5, but staff very apologetic. I hope the Hotel Management appreciate how hard the restaurant staff work over breakfast, despite being extremely busy they really went that extra mile and always with a smile. Room was made up without asking, it’s surprising how many are not doing this post pandemic. Would not hesitate to return.
Great location if you need to be near city center and or a fan of the Beatles. The reception staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient, in particular Mahmoud and Mariam. Being in the heart of the Beatles attractions it only takes 2 minutes to the Cavern Club and its associated restaurant and bub. The Hotel needs some renovation, particularly the air-conditioning system, but this will not deter us from staying there again, as we have very much enjoyed the environment and service.
A great stay at a wonderful themed hotel the welcome I got from Emma on the reception desk was unbelievable she just couldn’t do enough for us it added to the great experience I had not only at the fabulous hotel the time I had in Liverpool town center it was brilliant
Wanted this to be a special stay as hubby's birthday treat. Sadly it wasn't. "Luxury" room was very disappointing with no luxury to speak of in a very small room.. The conundrum too was how to watch the flatscreenTV,as listed in the luxury room description, when it was on a wall to the left hand side of the bed & unable to view lying on the bed. Then only one chair for a couple to sit & view. When I asked for another room, I was told none available till after 3. After 4 we returned to being moved to a lower floor room, nearer the traffic noise when I had requested a "quiet room". Therefore j was unable to sleep till after 2am and was awoken at 5am again when the city awoke. When asked if we'd had a good stay I said no, explained why and received an explanation of "you are in a city". Even the 2nd floor room we were originally given was quieter and there were 2 more floors as options. There was a comment that we had booked through another travel provider and I wondered if this was why we were given a substandard room? Breakfast too was extremely busy with an admittance they were short-staffed, which did spoil the experience as lack of tables lack of top ups for some food items and lack of service generally. Some of the food items had been left out for a while too snd dried up & barely warm especially the eggs, sat swimming in fat and looked very unappetising. I felt for the staff trying their best but definitely not achieving a good standard of customer service. All in all a very disappointing stay. Would never stay again, which is a shame as the hotel looks good from outside and decor & beatles memorabilia good.…
Checked in no problem asked if we wanted breakfast £10 per person if booked in advance or £16 on day so paid up front. Room good . Service in bar very good didn’t get bartenders name but worked really hard even when on his name. Went down for breakfast was told no tables available went into lounge and another 5 or 6 couples waiting. Waited about 20 minutes before getting table . No cups washed so had to wait for them shortage of cutlery again being washed. Staff run off their feet and did their very best under difficult circumstances. Think they were let down by poor management who must have known number of people having breakfast. Shame. Giving service 5 stars because of service given.
We stayed for just one night 19th. Ok, it may be a bit pricey, but hey ho, great location. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. Room clean and adequate , good shower. Bar staff friendly and drinks reasonably priced for a hotel. Why would you stay there; as a Beatles fan why would you not?
I wish I had saved my money and booked a Travelodge. The room was dark, our window faced a wall, so no daylight, see picture. Basic toiletries, no coffee machine (which was advertised). I did ask to be moved but I was told it wasn't possible.
It is a lovely hotel. Maybe overpriced for what you get. Basic range of toiletries supplied (just shampoo and soap - nice brand though). Instant coffee in room. At that price I would have expected something g a little more upmarket. If not a machine at least a cafetière. Worst disappointment was the breakfast. All buffet style but the hot food had obviously been sitting for a long time. Congealed and unappetising. The coffee at breakfast was virtually undrinkable. Not sure if it was instant in a pot or cheap filter coffee. But really appalling for such a nice hotel. Days 2 and 3 we went to nearby cafes and had far better for a lot less However comfortable beds, decent sized room and perfect location
So arriving at 1230 we were told by a VERY rude employee at the front desk that CHECK IN IS AT 3pm. I pointed out that the hotel hadn't been full the night before (which I knew, as I'd been on their website at 11pm the previous night and all room types were available). So he lied, and said "WE ARE FULL, CHECK IN IS AT 3pm". Apart from being a rude little guy...he's an outright liar. When does a £300 a night hotel hire rude and incompetent staff? When they want 1 star reviews and no repeat business, that's when.
