Have took some time to consider this review but can't get away from how disappointed we were with this stay. Not the the dearest and not the cheapest place to stay, reception staff excellent and most welcoming but the room and upstairs bar were very poor. Have attached photos from the room which shows standards need addressing, tiles missing ,lights on mirrors not working , rotting woodwork. Bar on top floor was understaffed and seemed to be run by young unexperienced staff, not their fault, with no management in attendance, it was overcrowded and we quickly left. Wouldn't recommend this hotel but hopefully they get their house in order as the history of this hotel deserves
Hotel is really nice and full of history( used to be white star offices), the room was clean, bathroom was fab with massive jacuzzi bath. Separate little kitchen too. Everything was good from start to finish, went for drinks on the rooftop bar which has some great views. The two lads on the bar were brilliant too Thankyou Cole and Jamie I think, for a lovely evening had a great time and hope to be back one day soon. If you are in Liverpool would recommend this hotel.
We just had a one night stay at this hotel. The staff were all very pleasant, the lads on the 7th floor bar were sound and the girls on reception were helpful and knowledgable. Booked a double room and ended up in a much bigger room with no extra cost. Yeah in all honestly a bit of paint and general maintenance would improve things but overall cleanliness was good. Would definitely return.
Stayed for 1 nt as went to a concert. The room could have done with a clean as cobwebs in corner and needs updating in places. It suited my needs and couldn't fault the staff who who very helpful and friendly. Would go back as in excellent location so would recommend for short breaks. e
Great location but that's where the positive element of this review ends. We booked via Booking.com a year ago when, we have since discovered, the hotel was already in administration. Our room on the first floor was extremely tatty, grubby and tired looking. The air conditioning clearly hadn't been working for some time as there was one small 'tower' style fan already in the room when we arrived, which was completely ineffective on the hottest day of the year. Both windows in the room had been sealed shut so it was stifling hot with no air. We mentioned this to reception and to duty manager Billy, who were well aware of the issue. Billy arranged for a second fan to be put in our room on the second day, but it was completely clogged up with dust so had no effect whatsoever. The hotel appeared to be fully booked and we spoke to other guests who were having similar issues. Despite having paid the full rate for two nights, there was no housekeeping during our stay, no wi-fi, the light on the bathroom mirror was broken, the toilet flush handle was broken, no towel rail or hook to hang towels on and the water in the bath and hand basin was very slow to drain.... I could go on! The staff were friendly, obviously doing their best and were keen to explain that the hotel is currently undergoing a period of change with various refurbishments taking place (none of which we were informed about when we made the booking), so for us, it was a very expensive and extremely disappointing stay.…
Booked this hotel nearly a year ago , it was already in administration but not advised of this on booking.com otherwise would not have booked. On arrival room's a/c was not working layout of room was poor and very tired. Hottest day of the year so far and fans that were already in the room made no effect. Other rooms a/c also out , kitchenette tired. No where to put towels to air, no details about the room , hotel WiFi in the room locks mismatched damage or missing. Very dissapointing paid the full booking booking rate but offered discount against a future stay but so far nothing received. Have stayed in lesser starred hotels and had better rooms and service. Feels like this hotel is only trading to service its wedding/function commitments and trading on minimal investment. Best thing it can do is close to protect whatever reputation it has left and refurb and relaunch otherwise it is doomed and the staff will walk. Will be contacting the administrators directly. It cannot limp on like this.…
Filthy, tired, dark… lock didn’t work on the door. Carpets filthy shower terrible looking forward to leaving in the morning. dark, depressing and tired and smelt of mould/ musty. Very disappointed . Rooftop car was tired and old and left to rot. Lists you worry you’ll make it. Need a major re r think.
Dark depressing room, black stained carpet and bed covers, poor quality furniture very scruffy. Bathroom dark and needs a lot of work to make it clean . Booked for 2 nights but didn’t stay didn’t live up to 4 stars or the hotel description
I am not pleased with my stay here. My family and i even considered sleeping in the car. I am very sad to say that i have nothing positive to say in this review. Upon arrival i quickly realised that this so called ‘posh’ hotel was very far from posh. - the cleanliness was very poor, and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. - the shower pressure was very disappointing and it took 5 minutes to wash shampoo out of my hair. - the fire alarm woke me up at 8am and then 2 minutes later stopped. - the furniture is aged, broken and dusty. - the breakfast was cold, the bacon was hard and i asked for more fruit (for a second time) and the waitress threw me a rude remark. - there was litter (empty sugar packet and crisp packet) behind the furniture on arrival. - carpet was very stained. - the velvet walls harboured a musty smell. - my keycard stopped working and i had to have it replaced twice. - the lift was extremely small, maybe a meter squared. - the windows didn’t open, which didn’t help with the dusty smell of the air. - the toilet flush did not work. - the bar on saturday night was open until only 9pm as they were ‘short staffed’. i would ask for a refund but im sure i am not the only one who is upset with my stay here. Don’t recommend sorry.…
Stayed here a few times pre-covid but now in need of a refresh (little bits like the brown scale in the jacuzzi vents, wardrobe door not closing properly). That said it is still clean with lovely staff who can't do enough to help and breakfast is plentiful and nicely cooked. Great location too
