I guess this must have been a lavish victorian venue. Very nice from outside and the old library was stunning. Thanks to the reception staff who were great in making sure my room was ready. The hotel had run out of still water so didn't get the complimentary bottles but that wasn't a big deal. Room was very well kept, comfortable bed and there was no noise from outside. Breakfast was probably one of the best Hilton ones I have had. Again restaurant staff were great. Nice base for exploring what is a dreary city.
delicious Breakfast, extremely friendly staff (reception, Bar and restaurant, clean rooms and perfect location. only a short walk to Liverpool One , the Cavern quarter and the docks. lots of restaurants around
The hotel is centrally located and in a good location for the Docks and City Centre attractions. The rooms are very tired, they really need some TLC. Our first room (a superior room) was so bad we had to be moved to another room. The aircon didn't work (you can't open the windows) the toilet seat was half off, the bathroom taps were loose, and the kettle when boiled sent streams of water down the wall. The pillows are terrible. We were upgraded to another room which they claimed was the only one they had left. The hotel seemed to be operating at reduced capacity, not sure if this was due to staff issues. The upgraded room was better except for the front door not locking when we went out, quite a serious problem. The staff in the hotel were excellent, it's only redeeming quality. Breakfast was fine, standard fare, but a descent selection of items.…
When booking a DoubleTree in the UK it’s often really difficult to know what you’re going to get. Sometimes it seems the brand is used for poorly maintained and tatty old Hilton’s that need a bit of money spent on them, other times however the brand hides some gems. This hotel is one of those gems! When we arrived at the hotel we were dissappointed that although there were rooms available there was no upgrade offered as Diamond members. The service however was really fantastic, with the staff taking time to get to know their guests. The room overall was in a good state of repair. Unfortunately the bathroom door didn’t shut but thankfully that didn’t affect our stay in any way. Breakfast was a good selection and was kept topped up throughout the breakfast service. Car parking was a worry before we arrived but we found the car park very easily and it appeared to be both very secure and also manned overnight. As it’s a third party car park parking was not complimentary to diamond members as is more normal for out-of-town Hiltons & DTs. The location is great for the city centre, it’s very close to some of Liverpool’s nightlife (if that’s your thing) but during the day it’s a nice easy walk to both the docks and the city centre shops and attractions. Overall a fantastic stay with really attentive staff so we won’t look anywhere else next time we’re visiting the area.…
This Hilton is a real gem, a fantastic spot, close the Mersey great staff and excellent service, Had room service very quick and great value , check out was simle and the breakfast had everything you would need
Great location.. you can walk to the Albert Dock, Liverpool Museum, Mersey Ferry. Big room comfortable bed John and Diane were helpful at the front desk. Cons: The gorgeous restored building is for private events only. You will stay at a drab dated generic hotel. The photo and blurb for the hotel are not clear about this. I mean even the bar in that beautiful bldg is not open to guests. Stuffy room Shower door didn’t close.. slip n fall waiting to happen as the floor is black marble Bathroom door didn’t close Carpet etc looks old and tired Housekeeping: when guests return at 4:00 pm after being out all day the room should be ready. This happened a few times. When a guest leaves.. get to the room. Dirty dishes left in the hall from overnight to late afternoon. The front desk, exceptions noted, had no information about Beatles tours, restaurants etc To be told to « go to the dock and take the Beatles bus » is not helpful. Hotels are supposed to be in the SERVICE industry The concierge at The Hard Day’s Night Hotel helped us.. lots of tours available at all price points and types. The DT needs TLC and honest advertising. Despite a great location, I would book elsewhere.…
This hotel is centrally located with a 10 - 15 min walk to Liverpool Lime Street and less than 5 mins to Liverpool Moorfields. It is also close to the main shopping centre area and various sights. The staff were very friendly and ready to help. We received a cookie on arrival which seems to be standard. The room was a good size for a city centre hotel and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also large and has a large shower (there was no bath in the room I had - not an issue for me, but adding for information). I didn't eat at the hotel in the evening, but there is a restaurant (Koukash) at the hotel. It was quiet overnight. As I was at the front of the hotel and there is currently a building site opposite workers started to arrive from about 6.30ish but I was getting up then, so not really a problem. Breakfast was in the restaurant and was buffet style with a wide range of continental and cooked items, various juices, teas and coffee. Whilst I was there with work, I could imagine it being equally good for leisure travellers as a central base. Would recommend and use again when next in Liverpool. …
Long stay - Ventilation in the rooms definitely needs improving, on some nights I would come back to my room smelling like cigarette smoke or weed, my friend in another room had to switch rooms because the smell of weed was overwhelming (despite housekeeping coming with air freshener). Pillows need to be improved as well, they just go flat and I sleep on 3. Housekeeping is also slightly questionable, despite only asking them to come in every few days, my sheets and towels are not changed. Despite being Hilton Gold / Diamond members, we were also asked to pay £10 each for an hour of late check-out. Never been asked that before at other Hilton properties. Breakfast is ok, the standard choice of food.
An impressive looking building conveniently placed in central Liverpool. Check-in easy, but big disappointment with room allocated on the 7th floor. Stained carpet and curtains, miserable decor and so hot we thought we'd entered a sauna by mistake! Very poor considering the £158 paid for one night b&b! To be fair, a maintenance engineer came to help with the aircon within 5 minutes of asking Reception, and we were offered a move to a different room on the 6th floor, which was a vast improvement - although if we'd paid the going rate for that room I would have expected more for £200. Anyway, we had a wonderful evening at the Empire Theatre, less than 10 minutes walk away from the hotel, then came back for a nightcap in the bar - except that it was already closed! Just after 10 o'clock! Breakfast was typical hotel fare, with a reasonable selection on offer, but nothing special. Quick mention of the staff, who were all absolutely great! Friendly, helpful and dedicated. The hotel is very lucky to have them all. To sum up this hotel is ok for one night, but others in a similar price range in Liverpool offer more in my opinion. It's certainly not as good as other DoubleTrees we've stayed in elsewhere in the UK and we probably wouldn't stay here again.…
Arrived at the hotel and waited too long as even tried the pre registration key which needed to be authorised by reception and so a waste of time. Within half an hour we had to start evacuation due to fire alarm, which was a false alarm. Got woken up the next morning around 5.45am to another fire alarm, jumped out of bed and had to take my partner’s oxegon mask and again a false alarm. I phoned reception straight away to be told it’s a false alarm and I said this was twice within a few hours. After breakfast I complained to the front desk and stated that I was not paying due to not getting the service or promised relaxed stay. I asked them to contact me, and 5 days later, they have not refunded me or contacted me to discuss further.
