Best Western Premier Suites Hotel & Spa offers a stay that satisfies on several fronts, yet leaves room for improvement, according to guest feedback. While some travelers appreciate the reasonable rates and commend the hotel's overall cleanliness, including tidy rooms, others have called out problems with outdated decor and servicing regularity. The staff's service quality varies; guests have experienced both helpfulness and unprofessionalism.
Amenities are generally appreciated, though there are occasional grievances about the leisure facilities. The atmosphere is a point of contention, with opinions split between comfort and a need for updates.

Detailed Reviews
My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Upon arrival we were a little disappointed as the outside of the hotel appears a little tired and worn ( for example, a letter missing from the signage at the front), it is also not located in a very picturesque location as it is on an industrial site (I am aware they can’t change this but worth adding for people reading these reviews). Once inside the entrance is welcoming and the receptionist was warm and friendly. We arrived at around 12:30pm and were allowed to check in early which was great! The corridors and public areas are a bit more dated compared to the spa area and rooms themselves but still clean and tidy. We were located on the top floor, we were very pleasantly surprised when we entered our room as it was very large and had modern decor. The room was clean and had lots of storage space. The heating system was easy to use and effective which made it a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable and you couldn’t feel where the two single beds joined together. The TV had a good selection of channels but our TV in the lounge did not seem to work. The shower pressure was outstanding, perhaps a bit too powerful at times. Upon arrival we were given two breakfast forms to complete for the morning after, at the bottom of these we could choose whether we wanted to go to the restaurant or have it delivered as room service. On the form there was no mention of an extra charge for room service so we chose this option. We put 10am delivery time on the form but by 10:30am it had not arrived, it was not a problem for us but when the food arrived it was barely warm. The next day we had another form for breakfast, this time it stated there was a £5pp surcharge for room service so we chose to dine in the restaurant, this time the food was hot and much more enjoyable. During our stay we also used the swimming pool, jacuzzi and booked to have a rasul in the spa. The spa and leisure facilities were modern and our experience was enjoyable, although, we were not told before we arrived that we had to book a slot to go swimming due to number restrictions so this did alter our plans a little bit. The sauna and steam room were also not open due to COVID19, which we were also not told about. The spa itself was tranquil and every effort was made to make us comfortable, the rasul itself was lovely but did not last the 45 minutes like stated in the brochure. Changing facilities were clean and lockers provided, although remember a £1 coin. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and I’m sure the issues were faced would have been quickly rectified if mentioned at the time. The staff were lovely and I would happily stay here again.

My husband and I came for the Sunday night spa package. We used the leisure facilities on Sunday which were nice, pool was lovely and warm and staff were helpful. A few loungers near the pool would have been nice (a feature some other hotels have). Changing facilities were tidy, but could do with a mop and included a spin dryer for bathing costumes which was really handy! We checked into our executive room which was nice and large with a fridge, 2 TVs, a dining area and a super king bed. At first glance the room was great however some more care needs to be taken… the bath panel was several inches short leaving an unfinished look. The shower head was very old and not what I’d expect in a newly refurbished hotel room. The towels though clean smelled like they’d been in storage for a long while and no bath mat was provided (just 2x large and 2x small towels). There was also a panel loose under the sink. The plugs in the room included USB ports which was very handy. Water was nice and hot in the shower. We had dinner which was very tasty, the older waiting staff were brilliant, though some very young members of the team who could do with a little more training (quite mumbly as many 19/20 year olds are). On the Monday we had breakfast which was a buffet style, good choice of food and fruit juices. And then we went to the spa. The spa was beautiful and treatments were excellent. Overall the hotel was nice but extra care and attention needs to be paid to cleaning, it was far from disgusting, however some hard floors were a little sticky, tables could be wiped a little more often, dirt around bins near tea/ coffee machines, and dust on some surfaces. It seems the hotel may have lost some cleaners during the pandemic and is struggling with less staff/ inexperienced staff. Hopefully these issues are addressed as it would be a huge shame for the hotel to slip to a poor standard, when with some extra training and a few more staff it could greatly improve.

I absolutely love it here. The staff are really friendly and the cleaning team should also be commended. In particular, The Studio here is second to none. Very professional staff, the instructors, receptionists and cleaners are amazing making this a safe place in these difficult times.

The room had a lot of food bits on the carpet, and surfaces were thick with dust. The bathroom sink and bath were dirty. The tap in the bath was leaking, with hot water running from it all the time. There were literally two sheets of toilet paper left on the roll when we arrived, with no more toilet rolls anywhere. We requested more, and were bought one roll, for 2 people for 5 nights!! When we requested another roll later in our stay, they didn't supply it until I asked again. If the single roll allowance is due to Covid rules, they could at least leave a spare toilet roll in a plastic bag in the bathroom!
When I complained about the room being dirty, we were twice promised that housekeeping would clean it, but no-one did. We are both double vaccinated, I test for Covid twice a week because I work in a school, and we had the window open in the room and our toiletries and clothes packed away, in consideration for the housekeeping team who were supposed to be coming into our room. But no joy.
When we checked out, I asked for an email address for the head office, but the staff wanted me to only talk to them. I explained that I had already raised the issues, with no resolution, so wanted to complain to head office, but was just given the email address for the man who was stood in front of me. I have contacted Compass Hospitality, who own the hotel, to say I wish to complain, but they have not responded.
The hotel is tired, and there was a lot of poor maintenance in evidence in our room, from peeling plaster on the wall by the bedroom window, to a warped window sill, to mould in the grouting and mastick in the bathroom, to a rusty shower head and rusty shower rail... Not four star.
The floor in the restaurant was sticky to walk on, every single morning, and the breakfast was not very inspiring, especially as the few items on offer were not replenished regularly, leaving everyone short of pastries, butter, cereals etc.
The cooked breakfast was very nice, and the staff were generally friendly.
But I would not stay here again, even though we have family in the area and we would need to visit Liverpool. We will be staying somewhere else, as the Suites Hotel in Knowsley is dreadful, and not worth the £510 that it cost us.
I will be complaining again to the one email address that I was given, although I would rather complain to head office.

I have never stayed at a hotel like this in my life it shouldn’t even be a 1 star hotel let alone a 4 star! The room was absolutely filthy and it definitely was not cleaned before we got in the room and for months by the looks of it.
The bath has got to be the worst, the tap was broken, the shower head was taped on so you couldn’t move it and plastic from the broken tap was in the bath which I stood on when getting in to get a shower causing it to stick into my foot and cut it. The filth in the bath was revolting hairs, scum around the bath, a mouldy shower curtain, rust on the shower curtain rail.
The tv remote in the room had about a years worth of dust on meaning this is not cleaned before you enter the room like every other hotel does at the moment due to Covid-19. All of the surfaces in the room including the lamps were thick with months of dust even the kettle had not been cleaned. The floor I don’t even want to go there but my white socks have gone in the bin it was full of crumbs and dirt.
We would have left the hotel and gone home if we had not of had a drink during the day. Put it this way we couldn’t wait to get home and get a shower as we felt that dirty after staying here.
We tried to complain to the manager of the hotel about this however he was too busy cleaning other people’s rooms who had also complained (the receptionist told us this!). He did eventually come to our room at around 10pm so obviously we was ready for bed and he said we could discuss this in the morning. We said he could come into the room to look how bad it was however he didn’t as he must have known due to him cleaning other rooms. He did offer to come in and clean the room but we refused as I wasn’t going to stand in the hallway in my dressing gown.
The morning came and he forced out an apology for this and offered me 25% off my room rate and to pay for the bar bill we had which was only small. He eventually offered to refund me £35 however they took £25 off me when we checked in so we only got a £10 refund! The manager is completely incompetent for the job and way out of his comfort zone.
It is such a shame as we had such a lovely day in the spa which we have no complaints about. The food is also delicious apart from the breakfast which was a bit of a let down.

Me and my wife had our wedding here just over a we we got married here a week ago, we booked it approx 6 months ago and it looked lovely, initially. We dealt with Alison the wedding coordinator who was great, we organised everything payed deposit etc and getting all excited and nervous. Then the hotel decided to take a home office contract and we lost 80% of the hotel and the main entrance we was told it was short term and would all be back to normal in time for the wedding, this was not the case due to the management deciding to extend it as all they could see was pound signs we was not impressed at all, they did knock off abit of money I wish we had cancelled but my wife wanted to go ahead and to be honest it was too late
So on the day which was a lovely day but ourselves and our guest had to come in round the rear entrance where they was greeted by guest from the spa standing outside in dressing gowns smoking whilst were entering and having photos taken, the hotel said they couldn’t control this, my wife had to enter the room via the back office and corridors in her wedding dress not ideal, when we was getting married the songs that we chose that we spent time choosing no one could hear because someone left it so quiet, and the room which we got married in could of done with a coat of paint, then when we went out to get photos taken there was cigarette bits and empty beer bottles that we had to clean up
Then a few guest got over charged at the bar on more than one occasion, there was a few items we gave staff to put out on tables and we never seen them and still not seen them, a lot of this could of been avoided by not extending the home office contract
Some of the rooms had water stains on ceilings and marks on wall, the top suite where we stayed on our wedding night had empty shower gel bottles in the shower the tiles were uneven and dangerous the jets was damaged in the bath and the tap wasn’t fitted properly so when you run the bath half of the water was running all over the floor making it very slippery
Then the next morning was breakfast which was a complete and absolute disaster there was not enough tables and chairs we was moving chairs and having to clear our own tables, constantly asking for more glasses, plates, juice, milk etc then when the breakfast come out they was wrong and the waiters didn’t know where they was going and was taking stuff back to the kitchen, we spoke to the reception and they offered to give each room £10 refund, how kind. It was so embarrassing for us with our guests
We had a lovely day but could of been better if I could turn back the clock I probably would of got married some where else, all there interested in is money, the whole place needs some renovating it’s starting to show its age and the planning of the place is not the best
We have spoke to them backwards and forwards via email and they have offered us a free night stay and breakfast, thanks but no thanks
If I was looking to married I would not get married here

My partner and our 10 year old daughter had the mis-fortune of booking this hotel for a weekend
The first night we were locked in one part of the hotel in the supposedly executive suite rooms, contravening health and safety as I dread to think what may have happened should an incident have arisen (this upset our daughter greatly and caused her a sleepless night).
On complaining we were told by a member of staff the door had been locked as they were unaware we were staying in this part of the hotel as we were the only guests in these recently re-opened Suites.
As if this wasn’t enough there were also issues with:
Room unclean, cobwebs and holes in tiles.
Air conditioning broken, requested fan, 2 broken fans supplied before one that eventually worked. Daughters bed uncomfortable with springs sticking through mattress.
Telephones didn’t work in room to contact room service (eventually rectified, again no doubt due to the hotel not knowing we were in this room and arranging appropriately).
No explanation at all of any sort of procedures in place on arrival due to COVID, had to ask constantly.
To stress we would have left this hotel immediately, however due to current situation unable to find another hotel at short notice.
Sent a mail to the hotel documenting our issues and we were told would have a full response within 48 hours, 48 hours later and and we haven’t.

We’ve have recently lost our dad/grandad after a short illness that was very stressful for us as a family nursing him throughout. We decided to arrange an overnight spa as a treat and we’ve been here before, and it’s usually lovely. Unfortunately this wasn’t up to the usual standards. We got changed in the changing rooms and I used the toilet. The sanitary bins were overflowing which is disgusting and unhygienic!
After washing my hands I wanted to use the hand creams provided but everyone I tried was empty.
We went into the sauna suite before our treatment to find the sauna out of use, and one of the foot spas was only working on hot not cold. I wanted to have a drink of juice to find it was only black currant no orange available.
We were then called into our treatment and we had all booked an indian head massage and the young lady asked if I wanted light or hard pressure so I said hard. If that was hard god knows what light felt like. We all came out and said the same thing, that it was a little head tickle, so all the girls must be trained the same.
We then went up to our rooms. They are so old and tired and need a refurb! They felt cheap and dirty.
We went for our evening meal which was nice though my salmon was very dry. The waiting on staff were lovely and looked after us.
I didn’t sleep well at all with just 1 pillow and the bed was so hard.
Breakfast that day was booked for 8.30 and was supposed to be on till 10 but there was only 1 fruit pot left which was disappointing for the rest of our group.
It’s not a cheap stay in the suites and unfortunately I wont be returning or recommending it to anyone. Even with Covid restrictions standards should be kept

Booked a spa break on spabreaks.com, after taking our money we were then informed that the spa wasn’t fully open but they’re still charging full price!
The spa was nice, we had our treatment, the thermal suite was open we could use the foot spa, then the relaxation suite with beds to lie down on, nothing else to use however so used the pool for an hour and left.
The hotel itself was ok, outdated slightly. The bathroom furniture needs redoing the shower is very old fashioned! The room itself was ok however a kettle and cups out but no coffee or tea or milk or sugar, had to ring down and ask for some and go down and get it ourselves. Ordered breakfast for an extra £10 to be delivered to our room for 10 am. Rang down at 1020 as no food had come to be told it’d be another 20 minutes, fair enough it’s busy but they expect you to check out at 11. The food itself was good and our evening meal was nice.

Dear Elcasto, Thank you for taking the time to write this review of your recent spa day with us. At the moment, under the government restrictions, we have had to close or sauna and steam room all other facilities are open to use. I am sorry to hear about the delay with breakfast and i will ensure this is brought up with our restaurant team. Its great to hear you enjoyed your dining experience with us in Handleys Brasserie. We do hope to welcome you again in the future. Kindest regards, Alex

What a start to the year! My first visit to Suites hotel & spa won't be my last. The service at the hotel was fantastic we received a warm welcome from the reception team on arrival, the spa staff were friendly, knowledgeable & all round lovely. The same can be said for the restaurant team who were attentive, chatty & gave good advice on the menu.
The spa is wonderful - one of the best I've been to. From the moment you walk in it's an oasis of calm & tranquility. With calming music & aromatherapy diffusers to set mood. The thermal spa is kitted out to a really high standard & foot spas were a fun touch to start the day. There are two relaxation areas which is great a lounge if you want to have a chat & some prosecco along with a quiet room to read, nap & lounge on the beds which are super comfy! I had a back massage whilst I was there & the therapist was friendly & the treatment made my back feel incredible.
The room we stayed in was HUGE! with two distinct areas of the bedroom & lounge with TV's in both areas, sofa, work station, small dining area, huge wardrobe & dressing table. Nice touches included a dressing table with light & mirror (a lot of hotels don't have this & it really makes a difference not having to stand up & do your make up in the bathroom) And a heat mat for heated hair appliances.
The quality of the food was fantastic & good value for money. For lunches I had a falafel burger & for lunch the second day a vegetarian club sandwich. Both of which were lovely, I was really impressed by the options for vegan/veggies/those trying to reduce their meat consumption. I had a really interesting tandoori chicken with a super crunchy samosa - yummy! For desert there was a peanut butter & Jam Creme Brulee which was lovely!

Sorry thought this was for another hotel 🙈 yes everything was included and a treatment x
All the rooms are ‘suites’ with a king sized bed in the bedroom and there is also a sofa bed in the ‘living room’, I’m sure you could get a cot or another child sized bed in!
Hi not sure on train station or cost of taxi. But we drove to the docks and I think it took us about 20minutes.
Hi,
Just booked a stay here :) we have dinner one evening. What sort of dishes are available?
Thanks
The selection is not massive but a reasonable choice and what I had was very nice.
