The hotel is located right opposite the train station if it wasn’t If you wasn’t for the roadworks you’ll be able to walk straight down the steps into the hotel Checking was straightforward when I got up to my room I found out after lying on the bed for 20 minutes the mattress was extremely soft you could feel the springs and it was not good - the thought of lying on this for the next two nights was horrendous however having spoken to reception and then the manager I was then moved to upgraded room which the manager told me had been recently refurbished and the mattress quality was so much better I slept very well for the next two nights!! If holiday inn want to compete with other hotels then they need to sort out those cheap mattresses because that’s the only thing that lets the hotel down (premier inn have better beds and this hotel is better standard than them !) The breakfast was excellent- the staff were friendly and helpful - I would stay again as long as I could have the same room !!

Recently stayed here for two nights, on a city break. It doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s an absolute gem of a holiday inn on the inside. Lovely rooms, and spacious lobby and bar. Breakfast was delicious. You literally step off the train at Lime Street and into the hotel.

The hotel is right opposite the train station and everything Is within walking distance. I was disappointed when I came to the reception to complain (not sure of the young girl's name) that my room had not been cleaned however I felt very brushed off and like I was inconveniencing her. I returned to reception and spoke to Emily who was so friendly and took ownership of resolving this for me, she went above and beyond helping out with my father who had mobility issues, a real credit to the hotel and the reason I will be returning.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable insight into your recent Holiday Inn experience, we really appreciate the feedback. I was pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, especially that Emily went above and beyond to provide you excellent guest service. I will be sure to relay your feedback to our team who will be pleased to hear they made a really positive impact to your stay! However, I was disappointed to read that you felt brushed off by one of our receptionists, this is most definitely not our usual standard and all of our team treat any guest queries with the upmost importance. I am so sorry that you were left feeling that way and had to return to Reception, but glad that Emily resolved your issue for you. So that I can look into this further, please contact me directly at the hotel so that I can investigate further for future improvements. Overall, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and thank you again for taking the time to leave us this feedback. I do hope to welcome you back in the near future. Warm Regards, Helen G Guest Service Manager

The location of the hotel is very handy for the train station. Unfortunately apart from that it is in a bit of a neglected part of the city. There were teenagers smoking weed outside of the Sainsburys just next door and a guy was arrested for shoplifting outside there too. The shopping centre that it is attached to (St. Johns) has definitely seen better days. The car park is cheap (£6 for 24 hours when validated by the hotel). The hotel is generally very clean and well presented in the lobby, bar and breakfast areas. The reception staff aren’t the friendliest and the service is quite mixed. The family room was of a good size, recently refurbished and clean but as you can see by the photos, there is a level of maintenance that is severely lacking. The light fittings near the bed swivelled round loose and the lampshades were ripped. The bath panel had come away from the side; both of these things aren’t great with young kids. The air conditioning doesn’t really work as it’s “centrally controlled” by the hotel. This means generally that the room is stuffy no matter what the temperature is outside and no matter how cold you set the air conditioning. It said that reception could be contacted for extra cooling or heating (probably a plug in fan or heater), but I would rather have working air conditioning. Breakfast was generally really good and the staff were really helpful and friendly; especially with kids. All in all a mixed bag and pricey for what you get. My wife asked me what the difference was from a travelodge or premier inn in terms of quality and I wasn’t able to give a decent answer. All in all a mixed bag. The staff didn’t ask us how our stay was on the way out - the first time I’ve not been asked this!

So handy getting off the train and crossing the road straight into reception. The location of this hotel is superb with so many shops round about. Great family room absolutely spotlessly clean. Lots of younger members of staff on the desk, restaurant and the bar: All a credit to the hotel. Clearly a well managed hotel. Drinks prices are pretty decent as well! My whole family loved our 3 night stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel for efficiency, cleanliness and lovely staff. 👍🏻👍🏻

Positives are clean hotel, very central location perfect for rail arrivals, free parking and lovely breakfast. Staff on the whole were friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were outstanding and nothing was too much trouble for them. The negatives were we were situated next door to the lift and the noise is relentless from 6am until gone 2am. So always check what room you are in before you unpack and pray there is space for you to move rooms. That wasn't an option for us unfortunately. The 2nd major problem was awfully uncomfortable pillows but inline with their 'pillow promotions' I asked for replacentments but the ones we were given were that disintegrated and knackered and lumpy, I could easily move the internally filling around to enable me to find a place for my head. Very shocking considering they publicly promote their pillow service in every room. We paid a premium for our room as we were there during graduation week and honestly feel that 2 night's with little sleep ruined our stay and our daughters graduation.

Location was perfect for a base. Reception staff friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious. We had a room with 2x double beds and a small desk area which was separate to the bedroom, this was a nice touch though maybe a sofa for something would have been good? Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. No bad comments or suggestions for improvement. Would definitely stay here again

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights earlier this week. The staff are fantastic at this hotel, friendly, warm, very personable. The room was spotless, with no problems. The staff were so obliging to us, sorting out both vegan and gluten free options. The location is bang on, couldn’t be more central. I would stay here again.

Greeted by Helen. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout the check-in process. On arrival in my room, unfortunately, the room I had booked through central reservations was not the room I was allocated. Returned to reception to speak with Helen. Appears, my booking and my requests had not been transferred. Without any procrastination or further ado, Helen upgraded me to the Presidential Suite with the added touch of a slice of cake and preferred drink of water for my birthday. The room was on the 9th floor, spacious, with a kitchenette, living area with a guest toilet, en suite bedroom and a nice panoramic view of the city. What more could one ask for a one night birthday stay. Breakfast was a mixture of continental and full English. Ample, satisfying and friendly, helpful staff. Great service by Helen who took control of what could have been an awkward and negative outcome, but instead Helen made deceive decisions which ensured my stay was and still is memorable. Definitely recommend and intend to stay there again, hopefully not too long n the too near distant future
