Stayed here for a long weekend. Staff and owner very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast copious. Rooms cosy and bathroom stylish and all very clean and tidy. Spent the weekend kayaking and walking. The central location meant that the centre of Windermere were only a 10 minute walk

Fantastic place to stay. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are big and airy (some reviews on here say the decor is dated but we found it to be in keeping with the style of the house. Nothing was 'worn out' and decoration was clean/new) and there is plenty of free car

The owner Anthony was very helpful. The night we arrived, he recommended the places to visit, the good restaurants and pubs to us. He also let my son borrow his dumbbells ;-) Rooms are clean, beautiful; breakfast was tasty; easy access for shops and lakes. Strongly recommend.

Hi Nelsini19, There are lots of Restaurants, Bars & Pubs to choose from in the area, either a 10 minute walk from us in Windermere or just a short taxi ride to Bowness. If you drop us an email I can send you our recommended Restaurant list for you to look over. Look forward to welcoming you to The Willowsmere on Saturday.

Sorry, only just seen this question and I think it may be too late for your visit, but may be useful to others. Windermere is now a decent night out thanks to several new café cars opening. I'd recommend the Crafty Baa in Windermere, Café Italia, The Pig, Cantina (Italian), Lighthouse (Mediterranean), also the Lamplighter now has a nice bar area, also Fodder, good choice of draft beers. In bowness Bodegas is great for Tapas upstairs with a lively bar downstairs, Villa Positana is a lovely rustic Italian, Flying Pig, Arts Bar, Baha are all new bars with fod down there. Overall, I think the restaurants in the area are all of a good standard, and overall I don't rate the pub food, but The Hole in T'Wall is a worthy exception.

We prefer to stay in a non-pet room. Please advise. Cliff Radel
Hi there, We don't accept pets so all our rooms are pet free. All the best, Anthony

The train station is approximately half a mile away from the Willowsmere guest house. There are various paths leading to the lake, though for me as a disabled person, I travelled the one and a half miles to Bowness to access the lake. Windermere town centre is no more than half a mile away. If you want to get to the other side of the lake, there is a ferry at Bowness that carries cars and foot passengers and only takes a few minutes to cross.
