Built in 1861, the house in leafy Tunbridge Wells has never been as Victorian as it is now. Deep colours, rich velvets, marble tables, authentic wallpapers, tasseled lamps, portraits of Queen Victoria, tea and Victoria sponge by the fire. Be prepared to take a serious step back in time.

What can I say or where can I begin.........
The Victorian bed and breakfast is possibly the best bed and breakfast in the UK.
Harold, the owner is the most warm welcoming host and his eye for attention to detail is fantastic. His interior design ideas and outcomes deserve recognition, the property's interior is so unique I just do not think it would be possible to ever replicate it.
Harolds determination from following his dreams from a youngster and still to this day Is admirable. And his modest calm attitude truly makes you feel welcome.
If you want flashy, overpriced, modern interiors I'm afraid this isn't the place for you.
If you want a once in a lifetime experience, where you step back in time and experience Victorian opulence at its finest then stay here!
You will also not get a better breakfast than harolds! Using local fresh ingredients....... They are always delicious.
I can not wait untill my next visit already!!!

I'm not afraid to say that this is one of the best bed&breakfast that I have ever seen.
The house is near the centre of Tunbridge Wells in a lovely residential road within walking distance from the station and from the Pantiles.
The house is lovely from the outside and it is stunning inside. As soon as you walk through the door, you get the incredible feeling of getting back to Victorian times. Each room is wonderfully furnished and decorated, and everything is spotless. Harold, the owner, is the perfect host. He welcomes you with impeccable manners and he tells you the interesting story of the house. In the afternoon he serves tea with delicious home-made cakes in a flowery drawing room where pictures of royals hang on the walls. In the morning he prepares a wonderful breakfast that you eat in a dining room that seems to be directly transported from Downton Abbey. He always makes you feel welcomed, like if you were at home. The B&B only has three rooms for the guests and it is very quiet with no television in the rooms.
Despite its Victorian vibe, the B&B has got a powerful wifi in every room.
I will definitely go back there in the very near future.

I stayed with my cousins at the Victorian B & B. Harold was our host and was attentive to our needs. The whole house was amazing.. A real collectors find. The rooms were spotless, the facilities modern yet in keeping. Afternoon tea was a delight taken in the drawing room with the most delicious cake and proper tea. Morning tea and breakfast was equally as good. Without a doubt I have never stayed in a place like this and I know other places will not live up to this experience. I highly recommend Harold and his establishment.

Had a very enjoyable one night stay here, visiting friends in Tunbridge Wells.
Harold, who owns the property, is very welcoming & takes great joy in explaining the history of the building. It's very clear this place really is his pride & joy.
Nothing was too much, he even did a bit of ironing for us & sourced us a glass of wine from his own personal stash!
Breakfast was fantastic, and we weren't rushed out on Sunday morning (like most chains), which rounded off a lovely stay.
I think it's safe to say we will re-visit.

How I envy the reviewer who stayed at this oasis for three months. If you seek asylum from the twentieth-century and all its nauseating ugliness, reside here. It offers the comforts of a more homely establishment, rather than the scale of a 'grand palace' style. Mr Brown is the perfect host, and the candle-lit dinners are exquisite. Upon departure, you will rush to purchase evening dress tails and starched shirt for your next visit, if you do not possess them already. Look out your best frock coat, and send a booking by telegram to-day.

From arriving for afternoon tea and home-made cake to leaving after a great breakfast a stay at this B & B is packed with Victorian discoveries.
The whole house, as far as currently developed for guests, is completely and utterly in period and a joy to behold, in fact it's difficult to stop oneself staring around at the pictures, royal photo's and furniture.
At the current price it is good value for money for comfort, food and experience. Our only issue was that there is no tea/coffee making facility in the bedrooms (sadly missed for early risers - but I suspect Harold would provide fresh drinks to the room, if asked). Didn't miss a television at all.
Definitely going back.

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Victorian Bed and Breakfast. A truly remarkable haven filled with authentic victorian artefacts, the house is elegant and sumptuous but is also comfortable and homely. Harold Brown, the owner, is an extremely kind man and afternoon tea and cake is offered every day to be taken in the lovely sheltered gardens. He is also quick to ensure that everyone`s tastes and appetites are well catered for at breakfast time with quality fresh produce, cereals, freshly squeezed juices and the like! The bedroom we stayed in was large, warm and beautifully decorated with lots of storage space and a well equipped bathroom with powerful shower.
The house is very well situated in a quiet position on Lansdowne Road, has ample parking space and is well within easy walking distance of the city centre and a wide variety of restaurants. For those wishing to visit National Trust and English Heritage properties and places you really couldn`t be in a more central position - and Harold is a mine of information about all of them!
Highly recommended - a visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells wouldn`t be the same without a stay at The Victorian!

Stayed here for a one night stay on New Years Eve as we had planned to spend the evening on the Pantiles. Love the decor and the whole place is really well maintained and the owner (Harold) is nice and welcoming. The room itself has a sizeable (if slightly cold) shower and the bed is very comfortable. Would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room though.
Had a good nights sleep after we got back around 1am but the breakfast the following day was a bit average with very few options and took a while to be served...noted that hangover probably didn't help our patience! Wasn't a fan of everyone sitting around the same table as can be a bit awkward and meant self service was a bit faffy.
Definitely struck us that another person working there would help as Harold seemed to be doing everything and whilst admirable (guests praised and cleaned up plates...etc) meant it lacked options we have had in other B&B's
Overall a really nice stay though and would recommend

My partner and I stayed two nights at this amazing guesthouse, run by the charming Harold! Close attention has been paid to decor in every detail. You really are stepping back in time to a more genteel era.
Breakfast was fantastic and served in true 'Downton Abbey' style, all that was missing was a liveried footman!!
I can only praise our stay in this charming, cosy guesthouse...
