Family run hotel with varied menu and friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone went out of their way to make us feel safe and secure during our visit. Despite all the extra work they had the staff made sure that food was bought out as quickly as possible and did it all with a smile. The room was spacious, and en suite bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and fluffy towels, it was hot so they supplied a fan. Meals at night were fresh and tasty and sitting in the large tidy garden was lovely with the lights on, making for a very romantic setting. Easy walk into the city, perfect base for a holiday to Canterbury and the local area. Will definately stay here again, Tony and the team are doing a great job in such challenging circumstances!

Lovely hotel which was a pleasant walk from Canterbury South station and ideal for seeing the historic city centre and surrounding areas.

Comfortable bed, spotlessly clean room with a view onto the green and the main road. I thought it would be noisy but I slept really well. The staff were polite and very welcoming. As well as the Carvery, there was a wide choice of food on the menu and the restaurant was well set out despite the new restrictions. I was fortunate to have stayed at the hotel during the 'Eat Out To Help Out' scheme so I saved money too. Well stocked bar with a safe ordering and collection system in place. The gardens add a touch of class to this hotel. Small, but nice enough to sit for a quiet drink or to read a book or newspaper.

Only 1 small critcism. In these times of enhanced cleaning, greater care must be talen to ensure staff are doing things correctly. Twice during my stay I watched the same person sanitise the area thoroughly. However, they cleaned the chairs first then used the same cloth for the table. As an NHS Worker, I know this is not good cleaning practice.

Apart from that, I would gladly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

It was so great to get a hotel that had ground floor rooms so we did not have to carry our heavy suitcases upstairs. This is quite a big hotel with very comfortable, well appointed and spacious rooms. The beds and pillows were great. We ate every day at the restaurant during our stay and found the food to be of good quality. Breakfast provided a good variety of food and made to order hot food.

My mum and I have just returned from a long weekend in Canterbury, in which we stayed at The Victoria Hotel. What a little gem this place is! All the reviews are great, which obviously seemed positive, but for the price we paid for our stay here (breakfast included), we wasn't sure it would live up to these expectations - well, it exceeded them.

Granted, it's not the most modern of hotels in Canterbury, but my mother has been to Canterbury a few times before and stayed at a different hotel, a more expensive hotel, yet she much preferred The Victoria Hotel. We booked directly with the hotel, via the phone and requested one of the rooms we'd seen online. We got a great deal and got the exact room we wanted.

From start to finish, every single member of staff we met had a big smile on their face and couldn't have been more helpful. Especially Carly, who by the end of our stay, felt like our friend. Our room was great, all the food we ate was fantastic and the many alcoholic drinks I drank were brilliant. And all so affordable! Breakfast, which was included in our booking was excellent. So tasty and so much to choose from.

Covid wise, they did everything they could so you felt as 'normal' and at ease as possible. Because of said global pandemic, the staff are having to work a lot more/harder, ie. no breakfast buffet, them having to get everything for you, but this wasn't an issue or a problem for any of them. Each and every member of staff was more than happy to help.

The hotel is situated a very short walk from the city centre - the walk itself is a very nice little stroll and only takes around 10 minutes. Again, at the other hotel my mum has stayed at in the past in Canterbury, because of it's location (city centre) there was a lot of noise. You don't get that at The Victoria Hotel.

All in all our stay and experience at The Victoria Hotel was 10/10 and we're already planning another trip to Canterbury, in which we'll 100% be stayed here again.

I stayed at The Victoria Hotel between 3-7th November because I couldn’t move into my new home. During my stay I continued to work, remotely in the hotel and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when I had a problem with my laptop.
The Liver and bacon was the best I have ever tasted! The carvery was lovely, good portion sizes. Due to Covid-19 the staff had to bring the breakfast to the table instead of self service. When the second lockdown happened they continued to serve dinner, it just had to be eaten in the room instead of in the restaurant.
There is a lovely conservative area in the bar area where the sun shines in and you can watch the world go by.
As a single person staying in the hotel the staff made me feel really welcome, like I was part of the family.
As I live locally I have have never stayed before but would now highly recommend this as a brilliant hotel. I have visited the carvery on many occasions, it is always perfect.

Lovely hotel, room with usual tea/coffee making facilities, TV etc. Large bathroom with lovely shower and plenty of soft towels. Visited during storm Arwen so was very cold outside but beautifully toasty warm in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was paid for separately which I found a little odd but at least it gave you the option, glad that we used the option as it was a lovely cooked breakfast with usual help yourself to toast, cereal, yoghurt etc.
Staff were lovely throughout our stay and can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Delightful stay!!!

We have just spent 4 nights at the Victoria and enjoyed it so much. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of buffet items and a delicious full English cooked option. The cold buffet included fresh fruit salad, smoked salmon and continental meats and cheeses, as well as cereal, yogurts and juices, croissants and pain au chocolat. There was a convector style toaster so you could cook your toast exactly when needed so it was hot. I was particularly impressed that the cold buffet was laid out on a bed of ice so that you could be sure the food was not deteriorating over a long breakfast period. The carvery which we sampled on our first night was superb (beef, turkey and a particularly delicious glazed gammon) with lots of different veg.
The dining room décor is rustic with wooden beams and plank panelling, stained glass dividers and hanging ‘oil’ (electric) lamps, giving a lovely cosy ambience.

However the best thing of all about this hotel were the staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome and at home. Special thanks to Angela, and also to Rosario (who sadly was on holiday while we were there) but I had found her delightful to deal with when booking and would have liked to say hello in person.

The only downside was that we got a bit lost when arriving because the Satnav assumed the postcode was located halfway down the London Road, whereas the hotel is actually accessed directly from the roundabout. I recommend you check its position on Street view before coming to the hotel.

Other pluses were a large car park and a very pleasant walk into town ( 15 minutes) along a tree lined road then through delightful gardens. The price was extremely reasonable and brilliant value for money.

We thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are planning a visit to Canterbury, We are planning to come back with a group of friends next summer.

My friend and I visited the hotel hoping for a lovely breakfast buffet with lots if options..but unfortunately it was extremely disappointing. There were no pastry options aside from one!...another guest inquired for some and were told that they had finished 😧...the tea and coffee was made for you but was below average standards. The full English really wasn't nice at all..

The rooms were fairly clean and decent..although.. staff attitude was quite rude when asked by other members to clean up rooms infront of visitors and responded quite arrogantly.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone..honest review guys

The hotel rooms are lovely and spacious however we did have a few issues during our stay; we got back to the hotel at around 11pm to find that our key card did not open the door. We sat in reception for around 20 minutes waiting for someone to come. Eventually we found a member of staff. He didnt know how to reactive the card so gave us the cleaning card and told us to give it to reception before 8am which i was not to pleased about as i’m not a morning person. After we left i realised an additional £105 was taken from my bank account which i had no idea what it was for. After speaking to different members of staff several times over 2 days they have finally admitted it was their fault as they over charged me. I have read another review where this happened to someone else who stayed the day before, so please check your bank account after staying here.

We stayed for three nights whilst visiting Kent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - check in gave us a map and best directions to the city centre, they also let us check in early and we were only asking to leave our car in the car park whilst we went in for lunch. Our room was clean and tidy. Housekeeping only come in if you request it but you can replenish towels, etc if you ask. Breakfast was a buffet style continental range and/or cooked to order. Adequate choice and again staff really friendly. We had a drink in the bar every evening and prices were reasonable and bar staff nice. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. Tasty and well priced.
