Collapsed mattress, thin walls can hear everything, smells of mould in some places, jacuzzi and sauna not working, dirty pool area, overpriced food and drinks. Looks fantastic in the pictures but is disappointing in real life. I’m writing this at 1am as I can’t sleep due to the poor condition bed I’m in.

The hotel needs a refurb, it's dated and tired. Our room was hot and smelt strange, it went when it was aired but soon came back again. The bed wasn't great, the room was noisy - you can hear other people in the hotel. The balcony's join up so people go right passed your door. The staff, were very good. Food was ok, could be better for the price. The waiter for breakfast really needed new shoes! Carpets need cleaning. Unlikely to stay again..

I mean where do I start Do not let the lovely photos on their website fool you! This hotel is seriously outdated and in major need of some TLC. Walking into our room I felt this I’d gone back into the early 90s ( don’t forget to check out my pics) Let’s start with the room, It was spacious is about the only positive. The carpet was old worn and discoloured, the room generally looked tidy if you didn’t look too close, but then I found someone’s sock in the room, the big doors leading out onto the rusty mental so called balcony where filthy, the bathroom had mildew stains around the taps, the shower curtain had mould stains Oh wait I have another positive the mattress was shockingly comfy. Don’t get me wrong I immediately started looking for alternative hotels but trying to get a last minute family room was obviously impossible so I had no choice but to stay “SPA” I mean the so called spa with a tiny little pool, the hot tub which was switched off and didn’t see the changing rooms as we weren’t allowed to use them. We had to traipse back to our room in our wet costumes. They didn’t even provide robes. Just shocking. On the plus side my 2 year old wasn’t bothered and loved the warm pool Also I didn’t get all the precautions following COVID switching off the steam room and jacuzzi but then allowing non guests to use the pool. This was frustrating as we as guests found it difficult to get time in the pool as kids after school kept turning up. HOTEL FACILITIES Lots on parking on site, The worst food menu ever which is only for dinner, they provide no lunch. The menu costs an arm and leg and the drinks are extortion. They had a bar and restaurant menu, the kids menu was only on the bar menu and you weren’t allowed to order from the bar menu in the restaurant. So as a family if the parents want the restaurant menu my 2 year old has to sit in the bar to have his kids menu choices. Oh but because they are so nice I could have my restaurant menu in the bar just so not to leave my 2 year old unattended because that might seem like bad parenting! I mean you can’t make this up! It’s a 3 star hotel which charges you 5* prices. We paid £15 for one beer a cider and a j20. For a 2 course meal it’s £36 or if you decide to spoil yourself and go for all 3 courses it will cost you an eye watering £42 ( when you read the menu you will see why I find these prices so shockingly amusing) We ended up at a lovely pub called fishers pond just down the road which was really lovely and was well worth paying for, tbh I think it worked out cheaper than the hotel food. Let’s not also forget the shocking breakfast too. They offered the general fry up options, they say they are a kid friendly hotel ( my son did enjoy running up and down the long hallway and that’s about it ) but they are not. The option for breakfast for my 2 year old was co co pops, crunchy nut or muesli? I mean what do these peoples kids eat at home? No oats no fruit no pancakes. At,east they had some jam for toast and some yoghurt they may as well not serve tea and coffee because it tasted like something they had scrapped out of the ages in zoo opposite them The Internet was shocking they might as well have not had any I mean the general decor of the place was very dull and dark and just drab. I’m trying to find some positives about my stay but I’m struggling I guess the staff where friendly but from the way they spoke it seems they have a lot of dissatisfied customers which I’m not shocked about at all We went to the zoo opposite the next day so that was rather convenient, I was great full we could have lunch at the zoo as you know this hotel doesn’t serve it. this hotel has so much potential if someone would just put some life back into it. It has such a prime location with the zoo and yet it an absolute ..... I can’t use the words I want as my post will be delete :) If your desperate for somewhere to stay and just need to sleep I guess at least you’d have a good nights sleep with the comfy mattress ( silver lining) As I’ve got to the end of this I’ve just remembered when we checked in they gave us a brown bag with tea, coffee and milk, I’m not sure why it wasn’t just in the room but 8 felt like I was carrying something I wanted to hide from people , you know like you do when you want to hide condoms from your mum

Pleasant one night stay room ok, with just one small issue, the shower is not very good with poor water pressure and head positioning. ood very nice and ok value for money. Would say again it's a pretty convenient location right next door to the zoo.

Great quirky Hotel. The young lady at reception when we arrived went above and beyond to help all customers. We ate at the bar and food was lovely. The men behind the bar were working do hard. Swimming pool was great for a dip and with current restrictions no changing rooms available. Breakfast was lovely and staff were great. Only down was the bed. It could be replaced.
