Comfortable stay in a fully functioning modern room. The hotel is well located close to the central station and a short walk to the town centre. The hotel is equipped with a bar and restaurant. I stayed in a 3rd room overlooking the harbour which I could see the ferries.

Purpose of the trip was a one night stay in Southampton, so that we could visit the town and be near by the town. Check is was easy, elevators worked well and hotel in general was very quiet. Clean and well kept. The room itself was very very small, even for a twin room the single beds were a bit on the tiny side. No room at all to walk around but there was a closet to hang clothes. Air con was virtually non existent and was very warm at night. Bathroom and shower were alright, although the shower was quite low. The staff were very friendly at the hotel and we had good interactions with all. We used the bar for last orders and for a quick beer in the day- food bar and prices. We also had breakfast at the hotel, I must say I thought this was excellent value, good selection of hot English breakfast items, pastries , cereal and drinks for a good price of £8.95. The hotel also ticked the boxes for location. There is a TGI Friday’s and McDonald’s opposite. A range of retail stores, including a handy supermarket. The West Quay shopping Center is a 10 minute walk and the ports and docks are also close by. Good for one night stay but definitely very basic.

I recently stayed on two separate occasions and was warmly welcomed by two ladies with the same Cristian names. Alexandra Hodge the GM of the Ibis budget in Portsmouth and Alexandra Capatina Southampton. Accor have one of the best loyalty programmes world wide in the hospitality industry. Being a Diamond member these two ladies went out of their way to fulfil those benefits to my membership grade and making me feel that extra special. As for the hotel I found it bright clean with all the amenities one would require. It’s location is one of its unique selling points only a couple of minutes from the train station and national express bus terminal. The local attractions are also in walking distance and include: The Mayflower Theatre, sea scape museum, city art gallery, the magnificent Tudor House, Merchants House, city walls, Gods House tower, Solent marina, and ferries to the Isle of Wight. It is also very close by to the two cruise port terminals. Most certainly an A place to stay with A people in charge together with all their team members.
