Friendy staff, clean hotel and rooms. Great breakfast. We only stayed the night and was happy with our choice. Parking is an issue but if you find a place, the hotel have a few permts available. EV drivers note, a cgharging point is within 50 yards of the reception.

Thank you for taking the time to review us and very glad you enjoyed the stay. As you mention we are lucky to have one charging point in Florence Road and another in neighbouring St Catherines Road. Permits are also available for every guest. We do hope we can welcome you again the next time you are in Portsmouth.

Spent 3 nights in room 5. Although the hotel is in 3 separate buildings we enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff are lovely and the hotel is very clean and well kept. The only inconvenience is not always being able to park on sight you get a parking permit which allows you to park for free but you can’t always guarantee a space outside the hotel

Our family spent a wonderful weekend at Florence House Hotel last month. The hotel is in the perfect location. Only a few minutes from the sea and the local attractions. The hotels itself is great. Our room was the perfect size and exceptionally designed. Breakfast each morning was amazing. Great fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. This hotel really does tick all the boxes. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay one to remember.

This was our second stay at Florence house and both times were complete bliss. Super clean throughout, such comfortable beds, and tasteful decor. We had breakfast with this stay and both mornings were delicious. Staff are lovely and we couldn’t fault anything at all. Can’t wait to return once the latest lockdown is lifted.

It is difficult to rate hotels whilst Covid restrictions are in place and especially after a short stay. I would like to rate this hotel as "good", being somewhere between average and very good. The rooms we had were small, so it was necessary to move a chair to get to the wardrobe, but they were adequate for a short stay. This is a converted house, with numerous small steps to negotiate and some rooms leading off small half landings. Some guests might struggle with this. Car parking is a particular problem. The hotel has a few off-road spaces, but many guests have to park in the street, using the hotel's residents parking permits. Anyone who knows this area of Southsea and its parking problems will know that there is a real prospect of having to cruise around narrow streets for several minutes looking for a space and of only finding one some distance away. Of course, the hotel can do little about this, but it does detract from the overall experience - especially in the rain. The staff were generally very helpful and pleasant, particularly at breakfast. Breakfast itself was excellent - good quality produce which was well cooked.

Thank you for staying with us recently. We appreciate you reviewing us as Good in your comments - though unfortunately, the grading has come through as only Average on TripAdvisor which is a shame. As noted you did select our smallest, cheapest, option "Small Doubles" which whilst good for a stop over are not suitable for a longer trip. We are glad you found them adequate and the staff helpful and the freshly cooked breakfast enjoyable. I'm sorry you struggled with the free parking on offer, whilst the area has been quiet as you were travelling at half term we did have a greater number of guests. As you note there is absolutely no way of us resolving this to provide a car park for everyone due to our location just minutes from the seafront in a quiet residential area, but we do ensure it's kept free for our guests unlike some neighbouring hotels who charge guests for the permits. We are glad you managed a break before another month of lockdown for hotels and wish you all the best with your future travels. We hope we can perhaps welcome you again if you are in the area in the future.
