HMS INTREPID REUNION was held 23rd July to 25th July, great hotel with fantastic friendly staff and evening meals and breakfast was excellent and hot, perfect location on sea front opposite the pier, hotel organised a gala dinner for us on the Saturday night which was really good, we are already looking at having another reunion next year at this wonderful hotel

Been a regular attendee at this hotel - has its own old fashioned charm - good value for money and fantastically positioned, the great weather makes it even better attraction - whilst dated I hope the current renovation doesn't impact the historical nature of the hotel - everything previously said is correct, staff great , some big rooms sea facing , some smaller and warmer rooms - staff care generally excellent Would recommend - its not a chain and its quirky and bespoke - personally love it

My room had mould on the walls, there was mould in the bathroom, wallpaper peeling from walls, carpet filthy, corners black with dirt. When I complained at reception the receptionist just shrugged. I checked out immediately

Lovely hotel right on the seafront. Clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this to others. Bar area clean and well set out. Table service not any trouble for staff. Excellent breakfast, couldn’t fault it.

Booked for our wedding anniversary. room cancelled on arrival due to electrical errors / fire alarms not working on first floor. Was not contacted prior, staff were unsure what to do. Staff rude and unsympathetic, mismanaged, manager nowhere to be seen. We had to wait around for an hour whilst they scrambled back and forth on the phone to the manager, they could not help us find adequate accommodation, we were upset and distressed, no compensation or sympathy. It is sad as we have used the hotel for many years and it’s gradually gone downhill to the point we will not go back. The hotel is now a building site, builders were laughing and joking around whilst guests being cancelled and left in the lurch sat in reception. No parking. We will now never go back. A rude lady arrived to speak to us and had no sympathy or tact and basically said she could offer us 3 options and that was it and she was the icing on the cake for us to leave and fend for ourselves in finding accommodation at the last minute. We had travelled far and it is our anniversary & we spent ages trying to sort this out so missed booked plans. We managed to find a friendly independent hotel just up the road and they have been fantastic. We will never go back to the Royal Beach hotel now.. We got treated so badly and we are people and not just a number! I appreciate things happen which are beyond control of the hotel but the whole dealing with the situation and the state of the hotel is unacceptable. I urge anyone reading this considering the hotel to reconsider, google independent hotel Southsea, I would not wish for anyone to go through what we went through, the hotel doesn’t deserve customers.
