Stayed for one night with my sister and niece, nice location, rooms are nice cleanish but not "four in a bed" standard, single bed in our room creaked badly everytime occupant moved, also dripping shower tap kept us all awake, We ate in the restaurant which is overpriced for what you get although gentleman serving was friendly,. Breakfast was limited but. OK, although I wasn't impressed with the closeness of the table we were offered as I would have been almost touching the man behind me, so covid standard needs reviewing from that point, the whole place needs some tlc and a bit more eye for detail.

Thank you for your review. Our housekeeping team work very hard to maintain a high level of cleanliness and constantly mark highly in feedback. I'm sorry you feel that your room was not clean enough. I have reported the dripping tap already from your review on another site and fed back your previous repeated comments on the restaurant, All our COVID precautions throughout the hotel and the restaurant meet current Government guidelines and we are very stringent on these.

Don't get me wrong this won't be the most luxurious hotel you ever find but it does what it says on the tin and its great value. The location is perfect for exploring Rye... what it lacks in decor and appearance it defntiely makes up for in customer service. The staff at breakfast were amazing as nothing was too much trouble and Sarah at reception was amazing. So helpful and really knows her town well.. any questions about the local area, pubs, restaurants, shops etc and she has you covered. Hope the hotel know they have a real asset there.

The hotel is in a good location and we had a very good Sunday lunch when we arrived. When I saw the carpet in reception, I was a bit worried about the cleanliness of the rooms, but they were very clean. The room itself was closely newly refurbished and very nice (although the blinds were useless for keeping out the morning sun), but the bathroom needed a complete overhaul. Also, we were above the restaurant and it got quite noisy from 7am, although I think only 2 rooms would be affected by this. Bar/restaurant very nice, as was breakfast and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Reception is cleaned after all room changes are complete, every day, because of continual traffic through this area.

Tired bathroom, over grown /unkempt garden patio area , comfy bed , spacious room , inconsistent quality of breakfast service , lots of room key spraying but no cleaning /housekeeping of bedroom & bathroom for three night stay. Covid rules used as reason to not clean room ... not good!

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We are not alone in wanting to protect the safety of our staff and other guests by not servicing rooms during a stay. . We are still having to follow covid regulations in every aspect of hotel and restaurant life with regard to social distancing, cleanliness and PPE. When restrictions are fully lifted in June we will be able to resume servicing rooms.

Checked in 19/05/21 - 21/05/21, stayed here many times, and to be honest, it needed an update in places....and it has had a lot of money spent on it during lockdown, the dining room/bar has had a great makeover as has corridors, with new carpets & re decorated. Some rooms have been updated also. The new menu is a must, with the new chef being a revelation with fantastic meals etc. Nothing is too much trouble for the new staff, and now manageress Lin is back at the helm, it’s a 100% better, she definitely is the driving force, we can’t recommend this hotel enough
