We have stayed at Rye Lodge a few times, but we were curious about this visit as we knew it had new owners and were aware of the changes to decor etc. I'm sure the work is ongoing and is a large project, but was slightly disappointed that the changes so far seem to be aimed at non residents .The staff were all lovely, friendly and cheerful, but were always so busy serving pizzas on the decking. Rye Lodge is tired and in need of work. The carpet on the stairs is threadbare and a attention to detail is needed. No spa or pool available due to covid? but it looked like it wasn't available due to work? Our room was lovely with fantastic views Room 7, we always stay in that room because of this. Some things regarding furniture were different from past visits, but pretty much the same, the bedspread was stained but replaced straight away when I mentioned it to the cleaner. The chaise longues in the room was grubby, as were the cushions on the bed. Room 7 does have a balcony but I didn't want to step on it as it didn't look safe, but I did sit out eventually as we had beautiful weather and I love to people watch ( perfect for that). We had breakfast in our room every morning of our three night stay, which was very kindly carried up to us on a very large tray which must have been heavy, but it arrived on time with a smile , delicious and hot the chef definitely knows how to cook an egg to perfection. We also had champagne afternoon tea, description says price based on 2 people sharing a half a bottle of champagne 🍾 we didn't see said half bottle just 2 glasses of bubbles, could have been cheap procsecco for all we knew !. We also had a sharing lunch on one of our days , we made it sharing by having a couple of starters between usit was fantastic and excellent portion size. Finally I do think charging for parking at £5 a night when you are paying £135 a night for your room is a bit much, never had to pay to park there under previous owners, I even emailed about parking before our arrival but was never told it was chargeable. I know it's a long review but hope it's helpful to all. Because of all of the above I would have to say as a guest a average stay.Sorry Guys but I'm sure it's all a work in progress.

When we arrived the staff were fully occupied serving pizzas on the deck open to non residents. We managed to locate the hotel car park with the map sent earlier. The hotel was very busy but everyone was very helpful and cheerful. Lovely room at the front with a fabulous view and the hotel is right in the middle of town. Rye has lots to offer and we also took the train to Hastings and Bexhill. We had a great time and will definitely return.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights which was very comfortable, great room, lovely breakfast and staff were really friendly. We explored the surrounding areas by day and it was great to park the car in the car park and explore the town on foot. Big selection of restaurants and pubs in the immediate area. The hotel has a pizzeria on the terrace which looked very nice, although we didnt eat there ourselves. There is a lot of history in the surrounding areas and some lovely beaches, a great place for anyone to stay.

Stayed here with my husband for one night in a cosy double room which was more spacious than expected and well furnished. The hotel is clean and staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in an excellent location to explore Rye with shops and restaurants just a short walk away. Parking on site is a bonus and reasonably priced at £5 for an overnight stay - would definitely recommend.
