If I could give zero I absolutely would. By far the worst place I have ever stayed, and I have stayed in hostels. As if the outside of the place is not dreary enough, you go in and reception area and the front bar actually don’t look too unpleasant. Then you get in the room. And you wish you didn’t!! The black mould in the corners of the room speaks for itself, the mould around the windows, the mould in the shower head!!!! Horrific. We brought the baby, no chance I was showering her in there!! She’d come out filthier than she was when she went in! The bath taps were slightly less grotesque, so we did her a quick rinse with those. Luckily we brought our own towels (I’ll get to that part!) so I didn’t have to put her in the filthy rancid old raggedy towels they’d left. The bed, I have genuinely slept on comfier floors!! And I wish I was exaggerating. It’s like sleeping on concrete. My fiancé likes a firm bed but this takes the biscuit! There’s zero squash to it and it’s like lying on a brick wall. Upon stripping the bedding when leaving (despite the terrible hotel, I still believe in maintaining hotel etiquette) the ‘slumberland’ logo on the mattress is not one I’ve known in my 26 years of life, so I’m guessing the mattress is extremely old and this may heavily contribute to its discomfort. Pillows thin, duvet adequate I guess. Bedding clean, but not well kept- rips and tears in the seams. The bed itself is not mounted on the wall- so it rolls. All around everywhere, and if the bed itself wasnt enough to ruin your night, the walls of this poor establishment are paper thin, so you can literally hear every single thing. It’s not even as if other guest were particularly noisy, it’s just so easy to hear everything. The guest upstairs just trying to brush his teeth and it sounds like he’s having a shower in our room because the water running through the walls is so loud! So forget sleeping, just forget it. So then anyway, there’s a sign outside the rooms saying if you want your towels replacing leave them in this basket. So we didn’t. Because we didn’t use their towels. Yet despite of this, the cleaners entered our room, took all their towels, and then took one of our towels too! (The baby’s towel, from the white company-so expensive for a towel!), so I go to reception to ask for it back, say they can’t find it they’ve looked everywhere but can’t find it, must have been put in someone else’s room !!!! What do you MEAN how could you have taken my towel, washed it, dried it and then put it back in SOMEONE ELSES ROOM???? I said well I’m not willing to just leave it, I’m not happy. Eventually he gets manager on the phone. I told her I’ll go to laundry to look for it myself, so she agrees, and I do, and low and behold I find it within 2 minutes, despite the fact that he has already ‘looked everywhere for it’ for 15 minutes. I feel for the guy, his English speaking was limited and he obviously was trying to help as best he could but was struggling to understand what I was meaning, as well as obviously trying to follow hotel rules (such as not allowing me to go and look for the towel in the first place), and as for the manager on the phone she was actually really nice and tried her best to be helpful despite not actually being at work. So there’s a small positive to the place. Car park is not fit for purpose. 6 very small spaces with staff and entertainment (there seemed to be a children’s party on until around 9:30pm?) Double parking and blocking others in, vans blocking the entrances and the throughways, so forget the ‘free onsite parking’ element of this place too. Last but not least, do not use the iron and ironing board available from reception, as the iron is covered in who knows what and just leaves a sticky residue all over your clothes. I’m not sure how I’ll rescue my fiancé’s clothes when I get home, but hopefully vanish will get it out! If not then it’s actually cost us more having to replace clothes. Seriously, spend the extra money and don’t stay here. It seems like a good deal, with it being a 5 minute walk from the front (ok so there’s two positive points in total) but trust me, you’re not getting a good deal, it’s nightmarish. I’d say you get what you pay for, however £145 for two nights in this place was approximately £75 too much. It’s not worth more than £35 a night nowhere near. Never ever again.

My Wife and I have just returned from a 3 day break at the above where we had booked a superior room. The room number 1 allocated did not reach this criteria in any way being tired ,grubby with a a lot of mould in the bathroom which didn’t have a shower. All superior rooms are in the basement, have no windows which open and are airless and stuffy. However this hotel has brilliant hard working staff who allocated a much better room with a shower and separate toilet which we had for days two and three. The dining area floor could do with a good clean as the corners were mucky. The good side to our stay was the excellent breakfast which is my favourite meal and as stated the excellent, friendly helpful staff who could not be faulted.
