Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade.

Hotel du Vin Brighton is often celebrated for its stylish and comfortable atmosphere, with its modern rooms finding favor among many guests, though a few suggest there is room for aesthetic enhancement. While the hotel's cleanliness receives consistent commendation, particularly for its pristine bathrooms and luxurious toiletries, some guests have raised concerns over room cleanliness and maintenance. The prime location is a highlight, with guests appreciating the easy access to Brighton's seafront and attractions. Opinions on value for money are mixed, with experiences ranging from satisfaction to concerns over unexpected charges. The hotel's amenities, such as the comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms, are generally well-received, but some guests feel that refreshment services could be improved. Service at the hotel is often described as attentive and professional, contributing positively to the guest experience.

Situated in an Ideal location, close to shops and sea front. Even though an old building it didn’t smell ‘fusty’or feel draughty. Building well maintained.
Stayed in a ‘classic’ room which was ina simple French style and very elegant. Exceptionally clean even behind role topped bath!

Plenty of towels, extra pillows and even flannels Nice little touches like toilet roll end folded, chocolates and vanity kit.

Excellent forceful shower in classy tiled surround . Water lovely and hot, non slip mats and French shampoo, conditioner and shower gel at bath, shower and sink
(Could have had bubble bath instead by bath) . Unexpectedly had robes and slippers aswell!

Lovely fresh linen, really comfortable bed, very quiet with no noise at all from windows or corridor. Room temperature set perfectly didn’t have to alter thermostat. Air conditioning a bit noisy but acceptable .

Chairs could be more comfy.
Need a bigger table /desk or an additional one as had to use it for tea making, coffee , possessions , lamp and as a vanity unit !

Bar area and restaurant beautifully decorated, nice ambience. Would love to come back on a summers evening as expect the outdoor areas will be beautiful to sit out in .

We had the 5 course taster meal with wine in the Bistro which we couldn’t fault at all and was sensibly priced. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wines . Bar a bit pricey especially after service charge added!

Parking in the Lanes car park was expensive £38. 50 overnight and not much information about where to park on website .

We have a motorhome and come to Brighton often but if we ever come by car again we would definitely stay at the hotel du vin and highly recommend it to others

We routinely visit Brighton to celebrate as it has a wealth of Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and Hotels.

We regularly stay in The Grand Hotel, but really enjoy the cocktail bar at Hotel Du Vin. The Mixologists are top notch and the atmosphere has a "drinking club" vibe, with knowledgable staff, attentive service, nibbles if needed and a fabulous selection of wines, spirits, concoctions, cocktails and cigars for those so inclined.

This night Toby was the duty Mixologist, a very friendly chap who quickly rustled up our Mojito and Passion Fruit Martini.

These slipped down rather easily as the evening worn on and a 2nd round was in order. My wife stayed with the Passion Fruit Martini, however Toby suggested I try a "Southside" a gin based cocktail. Why not I thought!

This was delicious, really teasing on the palate as this was not a menu cocktail so I had to figure out the elements. A Great conversation ensewed with Toby as we discussed the drinks and our plans for the evening.

I highly recommend a vist to Hotel du Vin Brighton, its a great location, highly regarded restaurant that I have dined in previously and of course it has a Toby in its cocktail bar. Enjoy!

We only had one night here and it was our first visit to the Hotel du Vin and it won't be our last. We asked for a quiet room and were allocated one at the top, up a few flights of stairs with no lift but the climb was worth it. The room was superbly decorated and equipped and supremely comfortable, we had a wonderful night's sleep. The bathroom had a large free standing bath and a large shower with a massive shower head. There were luxurious toiletries in the bathroom as well.
The breakfast was very good with a good choice of hot food cooked to order and pastries etc. Everything about it was wonderful. Also a word for the people on reception: lovely friendly, helpful people who are a credit to the hotel.

Looks great until you look closer. We booked half board in advance (2 junior suits for a work trip) this was supposed to cover breakfast and diner. We expected to see some things on the menu with supplements like most places, however there was a lot of items that were extra which left you limited over the space of a week on what to eat, as the menu did not change. The food we did have was very nice, but not our usual taste (Al a cart) and expensive if paying on the day. We were also very shocked to find we could order a starter and a main, or main and desert, but we were then told we would be charged if we wanted any veg with our main, as this was classed as a side and our half board did not include this! So half board was half diner! Ok if you want a piece of chicken but extra if you wanted a whole meal!
I did complain about this and they added sides to our booking from the 2nd day,
On that 2nd night they then gave me a bill for £31 at the end of the meal. When I asked what this was for as we were half board. I was told service charge, £9 supplement (this I did not mind) for our meal and water! The night before we had tap water and was not charged. We had also given our waitress a generous tip. I asked them to remove the service charge as I prefer to tip our servers rather than the establishment. The manager on duty promptly told me she was not going to argue with me and they had to make a living. I found her attitude extremely rude. Some of the staff were extremely lovely and understanding saying the company had only recently made the extra charges on their menus. This was already an overpriced quite pompous establishment with extremely high mark ups, that had also been reducing its staffs hours some by over half because they had to pay to repair the air conditioning as it was not working.
It is advertised as a sea front hotel which strictly speaking it is on a side road and not facing the front. They had 1 disabled parking space outside and spaces for loading. They were occupied by workmen all week making repairs.
The building itself is a lovely old building with expensive artwork and decorated in period decor that suited the age of the building. Our junior suit wasn’t really a suit, but a large room with a roll top bath. We stayed in “the rectory” and our colleague in “the fallen angel”
The window in our room would not stay open when lifting it, and promptly flew down like a guillotine. There was a small court yard outside leading to other rooms, where other guests would stand outside smoking, drinking and disturbing our sleep. Not realising they were basically directly outside your bedroom window.
The corner of the room had a large damp patch with mould, and the bathroom ceiling vent was filthy. I expected more for £3,722:32 for 4 nights half board.
I have stayed in places like “the Grand” and “the Hilton” in Brighton and there wasn’t as many hidden extras in any of them.

Stayed a few times in the past, was a treat for my partner. Paid £313 for a mid week night stay with 2 course meal and breakfast. I paid to upgrade to a suite.

Staff were lovely as always and a shout out to Toby who made the most amazing cocktails.

Unfortunately there was drilling in the street outside my window til 3am, I did not sleep due to the noise. This is not the hotels fault.
I did call 4 x to reception for ear plugs but no answer and none in the room.

The rooms are looking run down.
Carpets have stains, the shower leaks through the doors and pours out into the room. We used 2 towels to prevent damaging the carpet, we couldn’t enjoy the shower due to this. There’s heavy amounts of sealant used to plug up to bathroom, this looks unsightly. Shower heads had thick dust in them. The room needs a deep clean, it didn’t feel clean.

The mattress was in need of replacement, my side had a huge dip and felt like I was sleeping on wood. It was very lumpy.

Overall I had a dreadful nights sleep, I came home and went to my own bed!

For £313 I feel very disappointed, this room was meant to be the upgrade. This was a special stay which cost a lot of money.I’m unlikely to return back to this hotel.

I fully understand the noise outside is beyond their control but the room and comfort was not to the standard I was expecting.

Grab yourself a junior suite if you want some extra room. Roll top bath in the bedroom and an epic rain shower in the bathroom!

Rooms are well designed and laid out with a huge big comfy bed and treat yourself to a bath with bags of hot water and watch some TV.

The location is superb, just off the seafront. Bar is cosy and although a little overpriced was a nice way to sit and read a book.

Room service order was wrong and as a vegetarian I couldn’t eat what was mistakenly sent but might have been miscommunication when I ordered.

Definitely one for my Brighton black book!

I wanted to leave a review as a gesture of thanks to the staff who looked after us from when we first booked our wedding at the hotel. The wedding coordinator (Dewi) was amazing from the outset, so much good advice and made the whole process feel much less stressful than I thought it would be.

The staff throughout the entire day were amazing, so professional but friendly too. The food on the day was exactly as it had been at the taster session, which was exceptionally good.

The location meant that we could get some very good 'Brighton' photos along the street and the seafront. The Dome room is such a great room for a reception due to it's impressive glass roof and of course the chandelier.

The other parts of the hotel which were available for us and guests to use were also very nice. The roof terrace and bar area upstairs were lovely to use in between the turnaround from food to disco.

All round it's a perfect venue for a wedding, I am very glad we came to see you and that it all went so smoothly on the day, no rain either!

Thanks again Dewi and the team for your excellent work! You all genuinely went above and beyond before and during our day with you.

We’re getting married here in August and we came today for our menu tasting and to spend the night.
We were looked after brilliantly by the lovely Georgios who was extremely knowledgeable and very attentive. He made us feel very special. The food was outstanding and we can’t wait to share this with our guests in our special day!

We’re booked into a deluxe room which is gorgeous and special mention must be made of the stunning bathroom. The only thing that could have made it better would be the addition of a full length mirror in the room (which I personally feel should be standard in any good hotel). Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the HDV Brighton to everyone!!

Excellent way to relax before Christmas. We went to stay at the hotel with another couple on one of their packages, which included a bottle of Champagne, £30 allowance for each of us towards a meal, upgraded room and breakfast. The room was very nice, with a separate roll top bath as well as a huge shower. The bed was extremely comfortable ensuring we had a good nights sleep. We were looked after by Edward in the bistro and all of us really enjoyed our meal. All in all, we couldn't fault our stay and will be looking at other locations with Hotel Du Vin and also their sister company, Malmaison.

The staff are lovely but no one seems to follow through…..when we checked in and went to the rooms it was apparent that the heating didn’t work at all in one room and that neither had a radiator that worked in the bathrooms meaning rooms were freezing and towels didn’t dry. I reported this and over 2 days and nights no one came to investigate. Food in restaurant average and charged supplement on a starter even when only 2 courses were had instead of a pre paid 3. Outside the bar which was lovely and well served everyone just seems to be going through the motions, just a disappointing birthday weekend and use of £1000 and I could recommend to anyone.

Hi I’m not sure, probably best to ask the hotel directly. There are though lifts to all floors and then level room access. Hope this helps. Cheers
