The DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole garners mixed reviews, with guests applauding its prime location near the beach and local attractions. The hotel's atmosphere combines modern elegance with classic touches, though some suggest updates are needed. While the staff is often described as friendly and professional, service inconsistencies have caused guest frustration. Cleanliness receives high marks, but the value is questioned due to small rooms and extra costs. Amenities like the breakfast and leisure facilities are favored, despite some needing a refresh.

I stayed at the Metropole in November 2024 and had a very nice stay.

I tried to check-in on the Hilton mobile app to speed up the check-in process but it would not let me. The app said that I needed to show ID to the front-desk which kind of defeats the speed and convenience. When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted with a queue of 8 people deep which took 10 minutes to get to the front. Once I got to the front of the check-in queue the reception team member was super quick to make sure that I was checked-in. UK Residents beware that you will need to show a UK ID card (Passport or driving licence on check-in) at this property.

What I love about staying at a DoubleTree brand property is they always offer you a freshly baked cookie on arrival. I declined on this occasion, but they offered a can of sparkling water instead, which is locally sourced in East Sussex.

The room was pleasant, clean and very spacious - and I was able to pre-select my room prior to arrival on the Hilton mobile app, which I highly recommend joining as a member! You can even upgrade to a sea-front facing room for a small fee on the app.

Overall this was a very pleasant stay with wonderful staff, attention and a nice hotel.

The only reason I gave this journey a four star review is due to the length of check-in queues and the time I had to wait at this property, which was consistent throughout my stay in the evening for arriving guests - otherwise a great stay. Also, the bathrooms, and showers could do with updating a little bit, but with a property of this size it will take time.

Dear Jetsetterlad86, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. It is great to hear you enjoyed the overall stay, the attentive staff, and spacious room, along with the thoughtful cookie or sparkling water gesture. Your insights about check-in delays, ID requirements, and bathroom updates are helpful for future travelers and improvements. Glad the Hilton mobile app helped with room selection despite the ID hurdle. Sounds like a mostly pleasant experience. We hope to welcome you again. Best Regards.

Stunning room, floor to ceiling windows with Seaview and large balcony. Beautifully decorated and brand new. Excellent customer service at reception. The general feel of the building is grand, marble staircase, paintings etc
Breakfast was varied and good quality

The swimming pool and changing rooms need renovation and the pool water looked murky, needs more chlorine. In general the swimming pool and changing rooms do not match the standards of the rest of the hotel… perhaps last to be renovated ?

Overall, very happy with our stay and loved the Seaview balcony and excellent service

We stayed on a sunny June weekend in a family room. We have stayed at several Hilton doubletrees in the past and always been happy so were keen to visit this recently renovated one in Brighton. The room was lovely, you could tell it had all been recently redecorated and refurbished. The location on the beach front was excellent and we thought the breakfast offering was great, it was ÂŁ17 per person and free for under 5's.

However we arrived earlier than check in and were aware that we were too early but we wanted to ask about booking breakfast and to drop off our bags. The lady at check in was quite rude and simply told us we were too early which was not great for a first impression. We asked to check the family swim times and she said that the pool was closing today for maintenance. We complained that we had booked the hotel for our family because it had a pool for the children to swim in and she said we would have received a text message which we definitely did not. We mentioned that we had only rung the day before to ask about swim times and were told then that the children can swim until 5pm and not told that the pool would be closed during our stay. She really did not seem very bothered at all.

I booked a massage in the pure spa which is in the basement. The massage itself was nice but the spa facilities are not great and it is also not signposted at all once you reach the basement.

We went for a drink in the bar and ordered mojitos only to be told they had no mint, which again wasn't ideal.

The car parking is behind the hotel but not completely connected so you have to follow the signs and go back outside to go into the hotel. It was signposted but they weren't great and lots of guests seemed to get a bit lost in the car park. Make sure you get your code to pay for parking at the hotel reception at checkout as it's cheaper, ÂŁ25 for 24 hours then you have to pay for any additional hours.

The hotel seems to be doing a lot of promotion via online influencers at the moment which was also clear when one was constantly filming himself loudly walking around the lobby and bar.

Overall we had a nice weekend thanks to the lovely weather, nice room and good location but weren't convinced that we would book this particular doubletree again.

Dear Charlotteo587, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the lovely room, excellent beachfront location, and the breakfast offerings. It's wonderful to know that you have had positive experiences at several Hilton Doubletree properties in the past, and we appreciate your loyalty. I am genuinely sorry to hear about the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the initial impression at check-in and the miscommunication regarding the pool closure. Unfortunately, the pool had to be shut down for maintenance issues and could not be opened due to health and safety concerns. This decision was not taken lightly, and I apologise for any disruption this caused to your plans. We regret that you did not receive the text notification and that the information was not conveyed during your call the day before. Regarding the spa, we appreciate your feedback on the facilities and signage, and we will work on improving these aspects to ensure a better experience for future guests. I also apologise for the lack of mint for your mojitos in the bar. I understand how such small details can impact your overall experience. We acknowledge the challenges with the car parking and signage. Your comments will be reviewed with our team to improve the clarity of directions and overall guest experience in this area. Additionally, we are aware of the presence of online influencers and will take steps to ensure that their activities do not disrupt other guests' enjoyment. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Your feedback is invaluable as it helps us identify areas for improvement. I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a more seamless and enjoyable stay. Warm regards, Amy Parker Guest Relations Manager

We stayed for one night on 5th floor. We have upgraded at extra charge for the sea view room with sofa and I am glad we did as the view from our four small windows was stunning.

Room was clean and fresh. Bathtub had skin residue though -so that not great.

Bed was comfortable. I would say there was not enough hanging space for the garments so if you stay more than a day, you will struggle with it.

There is a parking but please note that entrance is not at the front of the hotel, you need to go to the side road and look for the sign “Metropole”. Once you park, there is direct although convoluted access to the hotel.

We used sauna and steam room. More than three people inside and it is unsuitable. Both are tiny so go in unpopular times. You have to bring your hotel room towels which I found unhygienic.

Silver members receive complementary water cans.

Check in at 4 pm and check out at 11 am is not generous if you come just for one night and want to maximise your time at the sea.

Overall it is comfortable hotel overlooking a sea which is close to everything so we would stay again.

We apologize for the issue with the bathtub and have taken note to ensure improvements in our cleaning process. It's great to know that you found the bed comfortable, although we regret any inconvenience caused by the limited hanging space. We appreciate your comments regarding the parking entrance and will work on making this clearer for our guests. Your feedback about the sauna and steam room is noted, and we will look into ways to improve the experience, including towel arrangements. I am pleased to know you enjoyed the complementary water cans as a Silver member and found the location convenient for exploring the area. Stayed 1st March. Arrived for a speedy 4pm check in, all positions manned. Received a free cookie, wifi, and breakfast included. We booked through Expedia, no mention of breakfast, so that normally would have been ÂŁ45 for two. Lifts a bit slow, no biggie. The room was ok, a bit small, comfortable bed, nice temperature, but whoever decided to put the toilet so close to the wall needs to be questioned!! My wife and I banged our elbows numerous times. Rooms were very quiet and I slept like a log.
Mark was on duty in the 1890 room for breakfast, he explained how breakfast 'worked' putting everyone at ease, a credit to him.

Speedy checkout, just dropped key cards into a box, used the code for the ÂŁ9 discount for the car park, still cost ÂŁ27!!!

The car park needs a major redesign, whoever built it made spaces for two cars but somehow thought that three cars could fit in them, I can't imagine how some people got in and out of their cars, I parked up and there was literally a two inch gap between my car and the next, even if I was covered in lube I still wouldn't have got out!

So apart from the terrible car park, we had a good stay.

We arrived a little early and parked the car at Regency Secure Parking, a valet undercover garage at £17 a day at the time of writing this review. We walked the two minutes to The Doubletree by Hilton Brighton and we were warmly greeted by Ruby. We were immediately advised that as Diamond members we had been upgraded. The professionalism of Ruby was extremely impressive, she enquired if we had visited the area before and gave information on how to find our suite of rooms. We were in 110, an amazing suite with two balconies, a sitting room and delightful bedroom with a huge en-suite bathroom. The suite was beautifully presented, clean and tastefully decorated given the period of an historic building. The bed was massive, extremely comfortable and we certainly didn’t want to get out of it in the morning. The bedlinen was of a good quality, felt like Egyptian cotton. I don’t know if it was.. We both had a bath before bed, and showers in the morning. Absolutely masses, and copious amounts of hot water. I will say it took a few moments to run hot, but this is a beautiful old building and allow the plumbing time. Breakfast was just amazing, really meaty sausages and an all you could want or need for a lovely start to the day breakfast. There was a chef cooking eggs to just the way one wanted. Fried, scrambled, poached or a frittata. Highly recommend this establishment if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Brighton, and we highly recommend the Hilton rewards programme. I will say some places are better at recognising the Diamond membership than others and Ruby certainly had the customer at the centre of her service when she realised we were Diamond members. Ruby is another of the very few outstanding members of staff that we have come across in various Hilton hotels. Highly recommend The Doubletree by Hilton Brighton.

We stayed for a work event in March 2024. The room was clean, modern and perfect for an overnight stay. Buffet breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice in the morning and the hotel itself felt well look after. We would like to send thanks to Saba at reception who checked in myself, my fiancé and 9 month old daughter for our stay. We arrived early and she was so accommodating. We were offered an early check-in to a different room that was available, so that we had "a base" with our baby. We were also given cookies, an activity bag for our little one and a 1pm checkout so that we didn't need to rush the next day. Saba was really friendly, very professional and made us feel so welcome and well looked after as soon as we arrived. Thank you again!

Spent two days at the hotel for a conference. Appears to be a very new remodel. I was given a Hilton Diamond upgrade to a larger room which was nice. However, during my stay the air conditioning did not function and my room was consistently 27c/80f which made for sleepless nights. As a speaker at a conference hosted at the hotel the 2 days of lost sleep made work much harder. I spoke to the front desk 4 times about the temperature or changing rooms. I was told room changes were not an option. I was given a couple fans for the room. Despite it being cool in the evening, opening the windows was no help. And while the maintenance person who came to try to fix the unit was quite nice, the repair was ineffective. I later learned that while I thought it was just my room, others at the conference had the same complaint.

Other things to know. The room only had 2 sconces and a small floor lamp which made it quite dark in the room at night. The rooms don’t have a refrigerator and you’ll have to ask for one to be brought up.

I hope they are able to resolve some of these issues because the property has a lot of promise. The staff seem genuinely nice. One of the cleaning staff got off of an elevator on my floor to make room for me, which was incredibly kind. The smash burger at the bar was delicious. Breakfast buffet was also nice, but definitely gets busy and has limited seating.

I do hate to judge the hotel from what I hope is a temporary air conditioning issue, but two days later and I’m still trying to recover from the loss of sleep, compounded by a 12 hour flight.

I stayed at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel Brighton for three nights in August 2023. The hotel is located on the seafront in Brighton, and has a great location for exploring the city.

The first room I was given had very noisy air conditioning, so I was moved to another room. This room was smaller, but still comfortable. The room was not made up properly each day.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They were always happy to answer my questions and help me with anything I needed. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. It was a buffet with a wide variety of food to choose from, including fresh pastries, eggs, and pancakes.

Overall, I had a mixed experience at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel Brighton. The location was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the rooms were not always cleaned or tidied, and the second room I was given was smaller than I expected.

Here are some things that the hotel could improve on:
Make sure that all rooms are cleaned and made up each day.
Make sure that the air conditioning units in all rooms are working properly.
Provide more storage space in the rooms.

The new room lighting is very poor.

Sometimes you have to ask more than once for something.

Overall, I would recommend the Hilton Double Tree Hotel Brighton to people who are looking for a hotel with a great location and friendly staff.

Here are some additional things to note about the hotel:
The hotel has a fitness centre and a swimming pool.
There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel.
The hotel is pet-friendly
