13 of us stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, my first experience was the demand of £260 cash deposit (no card accepted) upon arrival. Then staying in a room that was not cleaned at all on our stay, the towels had skid marks on them, menstrual fluid on the mattress and stains on the pillows! (one of us got pink eye) Some of the cupboards had missing handles, the fire doors were not to code with a large gap around the frame. The staff's attitude was as if I had asked him to stay in that vile dungeon of a room, for example sometimes they didn't accept cash at the bar because they couldn't be bothered to go get change from reception. Brecfast would of been more nutritious if I had eaten one of the seamen stained pillowcases, and probably less frightening! When we checked out I had to remind the arrogant receptionist about my deposit (he had conveniently forgotten about) the place is a disappointment. 2 stars at best.

Stayed as a group for a stag weekend... Odd rooming triple rooms, quads etc...single beds etc... Budget and dated to say the least... Lions Rugby match on and 2 of the party were cheering in the last 2 minutes, and staff came out and said to be quiet... (apparently a family hotel)!! Quite rudely spoken to, when told .. Door broke of another room, and were locked out.. We helped him get in. But the best part left a shirt there (expensive one), sent prepaid plastic wallet with postage paid they refused to go to the postbox as none were near apparently and would only send IF I got collected by a courier, which I did... Thanks, nothing like customer service... Parking was non exist ant for any of out group despite requests. Would not stay again here...

Hotel was very disappointing Public areas are dirty and very dated Extra charge for parking £10 per night. Our bedroom was disgusting thick dust on all surfaces, dirt on floor and old toe nail clippings yuck !! Bathroom was also very dirty and smelt of damp . Fire alarm went off at 11 pm and woke us all up . The only good point was breakfast was good buffet style . Would not return and would only say it was a 2 star at the best.

Stayed as a group of 11 for a stag weekend and the Ullswater did everything we’d hope it would. There is chargeable parking available at the hotel which is a massive bonus. Location is very central and within walking distance of everything we needed. Bar well stocked(!), always available and staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were basic, clean and overall was very good value, breakfast plentiful. Cheers Ullswater team!

We’ve stayed in The hotel for two nights with my son, hotels is old but for sleeping only is just right. The front desk is very friendly and helpful if not them I would probably give only 3 stars. I would recommend it for short stay.
