I booked an expensive room with a sea view and what I got was an absolute disgrace with a view overlooking the bin area. The bathroom was disgraceful with no hot water, gaping holes in the wall and the shower was broken. The TV remote was not working, the room is the smallest room I've ever stayed in, there was no parking (there are about half of the parking spaces required). The staff were rude and we were told to stop moving tables so they could take payment for our drinks. The breakfast I paid for was not on the list the following morning. An absolute disgrace, I will definitely be advising people to go elsewhere

Third stay at this hotel, still claiming to be 4 star, but as another guest told the manager he had stayed in better hostels than the hermitage hotel.the first room offered to us on arrival, was terrible ,small with bath and shower dating back to the seventies, changed room ,better ,but not 4 star standard, shower not big enough to swing a cat, parking terrible,on the last night had to park in nearby car park, this establishment won,t allow double parking even though you’re in the building, and can move the vehicle if necessary,or leave the key with reception so they can do likewise, bar prices extortionate, food only average, the only thing that is four star here are the prices, each day going through reception there were families complaining, mainly for the same reasons,we definitely won’t be staying here again, and nor will several other people by the look of things, even 2 stars here would be debatable.

We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and always had an enjoyable stay. Yes we know it is a bit tired and the rooms need updating, but we were willing to overlook this because of its location and being able to park there, as well as the efficient and friendly staff. In fact as soon as Covid restrictions were lifted this was our first choice of a place to spend a few days away. We were disappointed to be told that the restaurant was full for evening bookings, but when we came back from having a meal at another local restaurant we saw that the hotel’s restaurant was not even open and just half a dozen tables were set up in what is the coffee lounge, this was puzzling since the main restaurant was fully open for breakfast the next day. But even with this smaller space for dinner set out, they had 3 tables empty so why we were told it was fully booked I do not know. However our main disappointment was that our stay was spoilt by a very unhelpful member of staff on reception, she is an older lady with glasses. She initially recorded our car registration wrong and we only found this out later when talking to a more helpful receptionist. But our main disappointment was because of what happened when we checked out, we asked the older receptionist with the glasses if we could stay in the car park so that we could enjoy the rest of the day, even if this incurred a small cost, but we were told that we could not. Every time we have stayed at this hotel in the past, we have been allowed to stay in the car park, but this lady told us that it was not possible as they were so very busy. However the car park was emptier than we have ever known it to be, we took a picture that I have included here to show that there were plenty of empty spaces. We found most of the staff very helpful and friendly, but this lady has let the entire hotel down. Sadly, as long as they employ such unhelpful staff, we are unlikely to book a stay at this hotel again.

The location of the property was good .When we arrived was cold by a blond haired lady on reception, but was later dealt with by a very friendly man who was extremely friendly. We were not informed on arrival that there was a charge of £14 per night to park on the carpark and we later found it hidden on Booking.com (payment of £800 for four nights is a complete rip off) , the search I did on Booking.com was to include free parking with my stay. Along with this the hotel allows non residents to park that already has limited space so I’d you decide to go off for the day you may not get back on The drinks and snacks were what you would expect to pay so not overly priced The hotel needs updating here and there, we stayed in a double fronted sea view room and this was dreary, wallpaper HANGING off the wall over the bed wasn’t a sight you expect at this level for the money we paid and there were signs of black damp patches around the bath. If it was brighter it would have been better. Bournemouth it’s self is a typical sea side place which is very busy and crowded when the weather is good, great for children, there are lots of nice restaurants and bars, avoid the park as it’s a meeting place for drug users and young adults under age drinking, it’s also a shame that homelessness seems to be a problem in the area
