Having read previous reviews i tried to ignore the bad ones. i realise i shouldnt have. On arrival the reception area looked very tired and uninviting a good coat of paint and a new carpet desperatly needed. Receptionist was very pleasant and so went to our room it wasnt quite as bad as i thought though needed updating but the view was awful. We had an issue with the sink and were given another room on the top floor. this was alot larger very hot as was the previous room. velux window was slightly open but darent move it open any more. The water pressure was not good just managed to get a shower. I looked under the green valance on the beds the beds certainly needed replacing. Breakfast was not too bad a good cereal and cooked selection . plenty of hot tea and coffee. The staff were all very pleasant and all wore masks. Not all the guests did. If i had took more notice of previous reviews i would have chose somewhere else. But it was a last minute booking so not much choice.…
Liked · The staff were good and friendly. The location was within walking distance to the town centre. Parking availability was great. Disliked · The wall paper was hanging off in places. The lift felt like a death trap. The room was far too hot and we had to open a big velux window, so all night we had revellers returning through the night that kept us awake. The window opens all the way for the 2nd floor and to close it you have to be around 6ft, it would be easy for someone to fall out. The sofa needs to be urgently thrown, it was totally gross and we did not sit on it. The pillows were poor and very inadequate. Bathroom had black mouldy grouting around the bath. Gripper rods showing for kids to catch themselves on.
Very dirty ! chairs in bar esting area material was black with grime . Bathroom smelled of sewers . Carpets were worn and dirty . Even the sign at the front of hotel was rusty didn't say" come and stay "with us !! I could go on . Don't understand why this cleaning wasn't done when it was shut with covid ???
arrived 12 midday on sunday, checked in and had to wait for room, soon as we walked in reception you could see the tired paintwork, different shades of magnolia, headed into the bar for a drink and two very small cokes a very expensive £4.60 total, sat just inside and noticed the window cill by the door thick with dust and i mean thick, not just a couple of days either, more like 3 months worth. Headed up to room 124, again very tired, the mattress was as flat as a pancake and no support, into the bathroom for a shower, cobwebs everywhere and insects on the ceiling etc, shower was either on or off, no control over the temp, we spent the afternoon, having doors around us constantly banged, the walls were paper thin and could hear everything. mentioned this at reception for the asst manager to be on our floor and only for it to be shrugged off, showed him the cobwebs etc and all he said was ill tell the cleaners, well 4 days later Mr asst manager they were still there so you failed in your job. was woken at midnight one night to only work out that the meeting room was being set up for the next day, and on that subject we came back in the car one day to find we couldnt park because of the meeting rooms were being used again woken at 5.50am both mornings by noise from staff in the back car park drive down to the car park littered with a cushion and bread trays again there all 3 days we were there,…
I cannot fault this hotel at all. We come across this hotel after being let down by a hotel we had previously booked. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Sharon who on short notice managed to get us room for two nights at a great deal. This hotel room was very clean. The room itself was a little dated but very well kept. The hotel had a lovely pool, sauna and steam room which was free to use and the breakfast in the morning was amazing. The walk into town took around 15 minutes, so not too long. All staff were very helpful and lovely. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of staying in Bournemouth.
