The staff were very rude and disinterested. The air conditioning in our room was broke and they would not fix it, when I asked the receptionist she just said “it’s fixed and the engineers have gone home” one of them tried relocating us to a far smaller and boxy room. Keep in mind I was paying £160 a night. Room was like stepping back into the 80s with the Decor, and was in a horrible state. Dirty fridge dirty bathroom, paint coming off the walls the list goes on. It was a 30th Birthday present for my wife and this hotel spoilt our whole experience of Bournemouth. Then I was reluctantly offered 20% off but still had to pay full parking. We use Accor hotels (Mecures) regularly in Cardiff Bristol and Heathrow and they’re always fantastic. This however should be avoided. It’s nothing more than daylight robbery to charge these prices for such poor service, please don’t spoil your trip, just avoid this hotel at any cost!

1) Locations perfect! Just a short walk to the cliff top, sandy beach and BIC. 2) Staff were on point. Polite, engaging, service oriented and customer focused. 3) Restaurant. Had an evening meal and Breakfast. Both were fantastic. We enjoyed the corn fed chicken so much we called and asked for the recipe. 4) Spa. Book early for treatments. This team know exactly how to help you feel relaxed. 5) The room. Recently refurbished our room came with a decent bed and some modern twist. The Rain drop shower was a nice touch. We had great stay and will come here again soon.

Overall the service and the attitude of the staff was extremely disappointing. Issues were: - The AC wasn't working in our room, when we spoke to the staff twice we were told they would fix it, however it was still broken when we came back late from dinner/drinks and we had the most awful nights sleep. After asking a further 3 times they finally changed our room. - Attitude of the reception and breakfast staff generally very unhelpful and they didn't seem to want to be there. We felt as if we were a burden; not the way you should feel given the price we paid (which was much higher than the other same * rated hotels). - Breakfast took 2 hours for 2/5 mornings. My girlfriend is vegetarian and they served her bacon fried bread on her plate when she asked for normal grilled toast. - Consistently brought out the wrong orders when breakfast was ordered. - brown running water from the sink in the bedroom. - Swimming pool was very dirty and surrounding areas were not cleaned. Changing rooms had tissue and dirty towels on the floor. - no one explained what times breakfast were in the morning, nor that we had to book in advance. When we asked why we weren't told the following morning we were told "it was on the TV". - no toilet paper or bottled water in the room when we arrived.

Hi ldgriesel I'm glad you chose our hotel for your visit to Bournemouth. Thank you for staying. We promise a comfortable and convenient experience for all of our guests. I will review your comments in regards to staff attitude. We have a young team still learning the trade and being fully booked during the first weeks of opening may have contributed. Please accept my apologies. We have so many compliments about our freshly cooked breakfast, so it is very disappointing to read that we did not match your expectations. Our vegetarian breakfast ordinarily receives exceptional feedback as we offer a unique alternative with halloumi and vegetables, and I can only apologise if there has been a misunderstanding. Timings for all our meal services, bar and leisure times are provided on arrival, and should be pointed out to guests when they check in. I can assure you the swimming pool has a daily cleaning schedule up to closing time. I'm sorry you experienced these issues with the stay. Trust that I have discussed this with the management team about this so we can make the necessary changes to better our service. We were visiting the hotel for our son's wedding on Sunday 23rd May and decided to extend our visit as it was our first holiday in over a year. We also upgraded our room to Super Kingsize for a special treat. When we arrived in our room, the first impressions were good, it was large and airy with a large bed, however, the first thing we found was that the TV would not stay on any chanel. When we got to our room after dinner on Saturday 22nd, it was really cold and we could not turn thr aircon off. When I showered on the following morning, I shampooed my hair and the flow of water was not sufficient to rinse it off. The service for dinner on the Sat night was really bad and although we had booked for 8pm, we did not a main course until 9.30pm and breakfast on the Sunday morning took 35 mins to get tea and over an hour for us to get anything to eat. We complained at reception and spoke to the manager who offered us a discount, which amounted to £63 for our 5 night stay at a total cost of £875.70. A very disappointing stay to what was such a happy family occasion.

Dear Pamela, Thank you for your review following your recent stay with us here at the MERCURE Bournemouth Queens hotel and Spa. I am really disappointed to read your comments. As a new refurbished hotel we are just getting used to ironing out some gremlins after reopening to the general public. I have reported your feedback to our managing team to ensure this is fixed. The air-conditioning unites are brand new and have temperature controls at the door entrance. I am disappointed that my staff did not instruct you how to set the temperature. I will also follow up with the restaurant team as to why there was such a delay in Saturday evening service. We produce all meals fresh after ordering and I can only apologise it took so long to come. Once again I would like to thank you for feedback and can assure you that we will improve our services as the team adjusts to the new normal. Me and my wife stayed for 2 nights with dinner and breakfast, the food was very good as was the service, the room was bright and clean, the hotel has a nice restaurant and bar both very relaxing all the staff where very polite and a special mention for Dave in the restaurant overall a very well run hotel will definitely stay again
